You see Dev knows your weaknesses. He told the reporters that award doesn't matter because he doesn't need acknowledgement. He is there to encourage start ups for whom these awards matter.
Instead of ignoring him, you handed him the opportunity to snatch your award by acknowledging his relationship with you. You see, that's what he wanted all along.
You are right, he can't take away your achievements. But you know what he came to get there? Your attention and he got it.

Someone please explain in what logical sense after constantly lying to his wife, throwing out his wife, handing her a pre-nup with his signature, calling her ugly names somehow becomes her fault?

How true. Dev was used to being treated as the cherished, adored, pampered boy who always got what he wanted. He never cared that his sisters were shortchanged by his mother at his expense. He continued to throw money to make up for the Lion's share of his mother's attention he kept for himself.
He kept making mistakes and he kept getting forgiven. The one time, he got the test of his own medicine, he got so offended that he started hating the woman who gave him that medicine.
You told Ishwari that from now on you will take care of yourself if nobody else will. My dear, who do you think were taking care of your useless self until now? Your mother were running after you with Halwa while your sisters were starving for attention. Did you ask your mother to turn her attention to your sister's then before hogging all the love?

Before, all Dev's lies and crimes got whitewashed by claiming that his intentions were good. This time his intentions are definitely not good, so now there's the other cop out, "Awww...
