What was the point of all the drama

I'm guessing the PH didn't decide to do a leap just this week and it has been in the works for some time, I'm wondering why they made us go through the prolonged mandir drama and the Dev vs God drama... What was the point of extending those scenes if they are all but going to be wiped out with the leap.

They could have balanced the episodes with GKB comedy or Ria and Nikki ... Or covered Neha divorce in that time since Shaheer was in Indonesia and to buy time to figure out the leap story

all that is just to hurt sona so deeply that she felt nothin but a carrier of the dixit baby...
so now she will not go back ... if she is not insulted and hurt so badly by selfish dixits -- she will always have a soft corner for dev and ishwari ( just like after the initial breakup... where sona was saying .. yes dev did wrong.. but we know and understand why he did what he did)/... No there is no such understanding anymore... she will be ruthless
