To find simplicity in the complexities..

Hi everyone, I am new to the forum. I've watched the show from the very beginning but I've never written anything about it but after yesterday's heart breaking episode, I felt that I needed an outlet to express myself and so, I decided to pen down my emotions and thoughts about the show here. I know that despite watching the same show, we all have different understanding and interpretations of the characters and the story. I respect the different perspectives... To be honest, I've never seen or read about a serial that's massively discussed by the audience like KRPKAB. It actually made me happy to see so many people having so many opinions and feelings about this show because it truly means that the serial have left an impact on the audience and have set everyone thinking.

This is my first time watching an Indian serial...Like many others, I caught a glimpse of the promos on tv; I saw two individuals who were very much deeply in love struggling with the complexities of their relationship and I was intrigued by it. Is it a new and unique story? No it isn't. Like Shaheer mentioned in one of the earlier interviews for this show, it is a story that has been told many times but what makes KRPKAB special? Many raised their disappointments about the over the top drama that we've witnessed in recent episodes, even I was initially taken aback by the back to back problems and complications that were showcased in the serial and even I wondered for a while where was the subtlety that was evident in the first 100 episodes.. I then realized that KRPKAB isn't about subtlety but it is about finding simplicity in the complexities of life. To me KRPKAB is special because they do not shy away from portraying and addressing flaws in the characters. What I have always found deeply fascinating about this show is that every character is right and wrong in their own places, you cant really point a finger. Each character are the way they are because of reason. I wanted to see growth in Dev's character, but time after time, he kept repeating the same mistakes. Why are the makers hell bent on showing Dev rising in an episode and falling in the another? Then it occurred to me, how foolish I was to expect the makers to show a constant upward graph in one's character when in reality, people do flutter.

Yesterday's episode was a turning point.

Dev and Sona may seem different from each other but at heart, they actually are the same. Both are always willing to sacrifice themselves for others. The both are truly selfless. To them, their respective spouse and family's happiness matter the most. We can see this in many instances in the show, where they put others before themselves and in yesterday's episode, we saw them and their relationship crumbled because of their selflessness. When people are selfless, they make way for others to come between them, and that was what happened between Dev and Sona. Their families came between them. Ishwari and Bijoy are actually the same; they both never accepted their respective daughter and son in laws... Bijoy out of protectiveness for his daughter and Ishwari, because of her insecurities. Both families made used of Dev and Sona's greatest weakness, which is their love for their family and their selfless nature, to create a rift between them and they succeeded. Who is at fault? Dev, Sona, Ishwari or their families? The answer is none and everyone.

When Sona was walking out in yesterday's episode and the flashbacks were shown, I felt something inside me break. I felt a lump in my throat and tears started to roll down my cheeks. Without me knowing, Dev and Sona have made a special place in my heart. I realized how much I love them both and the impact they've left in my life that no other fictional character have managed to achieve. But despite the immense pain of seeing their marriage fall apart, I actually had a small smile playing on my face because now, we will see a different Dev and Sona.

A leap and a child may be clich but I am excited to know how the story will continue to unfold, how Dev and Sona will try their hardest to move on and change but ultimately realize that no matter how far they run from each other, their love will keep pulling them back to each other. And when they realize that they cant run away, they'll be forced to face and overcome all the issues that have remained unsolved together.Only then, will their love and relationship strengthen, a new colour of Devakshi's love is going to be brought to light..

Great post! I have two disagreements tho!

1. I don't think Dev and Sona are the same. I think they share the similarity of caring for others and willing to sacrifice their happiness for the other. But I think Sona is also more mature and reasonable than Dev. I think she's also stronger and knows when to stop/ how to give back.

2. Bijoy and Ishwari are POLES apart. Bijoy wasn't a fan of Dev, but he *did* accept him. And to be honest, Bijoy actually had reasons to be skeptical of Dev. I mean the man has put his mother before Sonakshi many times and that would make any father angry. But even then, when Dev would come to their house or anything, Bijoy would be cordial. It's just his personality is a bit prickly. I mean he acts with Saurav in a similar way.

Ishwari, on the other hand, NEVER accepted Sonakshi the way Bijoy accepted Dev. She constantly tried to look for faults in Sonakshi and always interfered in the couple's life. She just outwardly treated Sonakshi with a little more kindness than Bijoy, but otherwise, she was basically anti-Sonakshi the ENTIRE time the two were married. I totally agreed with Sonakshi when she alleged that the whole fight was initially b/c of Ishwari and her actions. Alas, neither mother-son see their faults and both also refuse to show each other the mirror.
