although this rant of mine is directed towards all hindi soaps (except maybe 24) it is stimulated by today's episode aka the last episode of krpkab for me. that's right, this is break up post.
what even are they showing. now at this stage we all know the stale, over-used plot that will follow before the trps drop and the show winds up. sona will leave, a whole lot of drama will follow, coincidences involving their child will occur (bade ache lagte hai shit all over again), they'll know maami's plan and accordingly the redemption will take place after numerous leaps, trials and tribulations. my problem is WHY. WHY must the girl wait for luck to turn to her favour. WHY must she always be the adarsh, honest, abla naari. WHY is it that when a girl raises her voice to prove her point she's considered as non bahu and horrible wife material ? the answer is. decades of regressive and suppressive indian tv shows have fed it into our subconscious minds that women must be gracefull and diplomatic and should treat people with complete respect even when they same people insult her knowingly or unknowingly. krpkab is the result of the same stupid mindset.

now i know many of you'll will say that such shows are showing the reality and many women face this bu*****t and to that my reply is- so you affirm and support the bu*****t she's going through by portraying her favourite character going through that and not taking a stand ? duniya waise hi buri hai uske upar se you'll go like look- "even pretty little mbbs sona goes through this, tum kya cheez ho ? bear it!!"
now if you're gonna say its just a fiction show and is of no impact then let me ask you- have you not spent hours thinking about this show long after an episode has aired ? have you not spent hours thinking about how it should have happened or speculating what will happen next ? have you not spent hours expressing your anger, opinion, thoughts on this forum and read what others have said too ? if you're answer for any of this is yes then congrats- you've been influenced. now i know one one show makes no difference but this has undoubtedly been the format for every goddamned indian tv show and hence has embedded itself into our already regressive society making it more regressive. and its not our fault either i mean, repetition is the key. its a psychologically proven fact (i've done my research ok) that more you see something, more is your attitude affected by it.i mean, that's exactly how aggressive advertisements work. they repeat the ad so many times that we subconsciously start to favour the product and eventually buy it (done my research here too). so now, you'll are smart enough to to put 2 and 2 together and acknowledge what every show does to our society. and so are the producers. they KNOW the influence their shows have on masses and that the audience is hooked. and yet, yet they are neglectful of the content and the characters they show. i mean ekta kapoor being a woman promotes such mysogny. so yes i think that my anger id 200% justified and i'm 300% never going to make the mistake of thinking that a show may be mature and progressive and watch it ever, ever again.

no i dont have the patience for time to pass and cvs to make positive changes, no i dont trust the cvs any f*****g more and i believe that sonakshi or anyother woman should ever have to bear such ill treatment or wait for her inlaws to get to their senses and admire her again. i also know that me not watching the show wont make a difference to anyone except me but unless we dont boycott such nonsense, we cant expect change. so yes, i'm gonna re watch friends at 9:30 everynight, have a good laugh and be happy that i dont support this drama anymore.( i mean indian tv shows in general)

peace out.

First of all Take a bow for this stupendous Post. Today I did make a post on this being Fiction and you are right that if we talk about it, write about it read about it we are influenced but the level of influence depends on your maturity level and ultimately you can make a decision to watch this aimlessly too and that is my opinion. i dont know much about Indian TV shows ( soap) have watched Mahabharat the old one and a few Tamil Mystery serials and they are pretty good. I love Friends and that is a great show
Great Post

👏 Brilliant👏
Yes our subconscious mind gets affected with visual repetition.. And what one plants in there, nutured with repetition and emotions that becomes a reality some day..

Many a times people do not know what and why they do and behave in some situations.. There would be some distant connect with some memories or some experiences or some people or some visions.. could be from books or shows or movies or real-time.. And that's why we ask kids to read or see good things.. 😉😃

hi! thankyou so much! i didnt really expect a compliment, rather expected jooti-chapals lol.

i'm just stating my thoughts to have a healthy discussion and not any argument to if i come on too strong, i really dont mean it and am sorry in advance.

i'm currently reading this book in which the author says that majority of our decisions are made or affected my our subconscious minds, our conscious mind just implements these decisions. he also cited numerous case studies and experiments to support this statement and concludes that whether we like it or not, anything that we see, feel, think on a regular basis affects us and our actions whether we know it or not. so basically, its only human to start thinking and acting like what we watch regularly(in this case, tv shows).it just happens. and a lot of effort and meditation is needed to tap the subconscious mind. this is also the reason why kids arent allowed to watch too much cartoon or tv or even tv in general they get influenced very quickly and it sets into their mentality.
getting back to my point, we are a country where external interference and penalty was needed to stop the practice of burning widowed women. and tbh, our progress is slow (think: the latest banglore case). and movies and television media have a HUGE influence on this. hence the need to broadcast and write plots with care.

and yes friends is therapy <3

Why should you expect anything other than accolades for this Post I love it. I dont know whether the book you are reading is called Power of the subconscious mind if it is it is an awesome book. Yes our thinking and our environment shapes us to some extent. If we change the way we think whether consciously or subconsciously you are bringing change in yourself. But this has to be a conscious decision on your part and that in turn works on your subconscious mind to bring about the change

Thanks again for writing keep writing👏

I am really in a terrible mood, but thank you for the wonderful post..

Indian TV shows are meant only for the intelligent. Unfortunately they are pronouncing the word wrong.. according to them it is IN-TELE-GENS.

With due respect to a lot of old people out there ( i think i can take some liberties as i am also old and on the wrong side of 50!), it means that generation of people who are glued to their Tele's 24X7 as they do not have any other work to do,and keep shows on just for some noise.

Agree with everything. I am really done with people justifying by saying that it's showing reality and blah blah. What is the use of showing reality when you are not showing any logical redemption? How many times a woman will tolerate atrocities against her and keep forgiving her husband, in laws.. who are as stupid, egoistic, selfish etc etc.. How many times will a woman be portrayed as a doormat? How easily the makers will leave all these questions behind conveniently forgetting character redemption and character growth. So fiction or show reality but it should mace some moral value to it also of they are saying that their show is breaking stereotypes. What stereotypes have been broken? Please tell me... because I cannot see any difference in this show and others.

And Hindi shows better not bring issues like infertility etc in the story because they only end up insulting the sensitivity of the issue.

This show is stereotypical and regressive to the core. Pota, ghar ka Chirag and what not...

Shame on such a show!!!
