Yesterday I made a post on the show and today this is dedicated to the forum.
Hats of guys!!
Three-four lines of speech... And so many conclusions, analysis, thoughts, highlights etc. Every viewpoint different.
What I had thought could only be seen in one way... I am pleasantly surprised to see its not.
Here not being sarcastic AT ALL... I am really glad that some women or mothers could relate to ishu's speech. Of course they have clarified that it's the emotion they relayed to and not her obsession of being mother or taunt to sons. But I really loved that because then the CVs have been successful.
I am a sociology student and have been taught that to understand truly why people do what they do... You have to step in their shoes, u cannot be an overlooker from outside. So to all who thought speech to be completely OTT including me... It's possible because of this. At least I think it is for me. So really loved that...readibg the views of these posts.
Not intended to hurt any one and sorry if I did. Not even trying to justify ishwari or any of her words. Just an appreciation for cvs

No one has problem with maternal love ...its the content of the speech that was highly disturbing ... what she said was very selfish...she is obsessed with the tag of being Dev's mother.

I will try and explain this in a different way...the same speech and the same situation ONLY difference is that this time all those ppl sitting over there knows Sona and Dev cannot have kids , they need to go thru medical procedure for the same ...

Now tell me ...would Dev have tears in his eyes for his mom or his wife after hearing this speech. Would her parents have enjoyed listening to this...and that final hug would it have taken place ...I doubt...Above all ...think abt Sona , how would she feel??

Similarly , yesterday a lot couples who cannot have kids would have watched this show sitting with their in laws and extended family...imagine the situation of those women...Now each of us should stand in the shoes of those women and think ...then we will know what was wrong with the speech...

Not being able to give birth is a very sensitive issue and has to be handled with a lot of care and responsibility.

A production house as famous as this one...and a TV channel like Sony should have thought abt this as they have certain "Social Obligation" while they broadcast shows. This is one show that refrains from showing intimate scenes even betwn married couples ...but they couldn't think of this point ?? They need to think about the larger audience ...morthers are not the ONLY viewers for this show...yesterday the forgot that !!

If the speech was abt his childhood as its his birthday, him being naughty and few of his tantrums, it would have been ok...ON HIS BIRTHDAY she glorifies her role as a mother...listen to the speech again...it was not about Dev , its was about her as a mother ...after listening to that speech I felt , the day was celebrated because "Ishwari as a mother was born"...not because her son was born ....that is why most of us thought it was disgusting...

Its my POV ...think about it ...

I do completely agree with u. As I said the issue of becoming a mom, taunt to sona... I am not speaking for that. In fact after reading all posts I went back to see it again but still felt it to be unusual and unnatural. Just like yesterday.
What I said in this post was just showing my surprise as how to how people have taken another pOv to it that's it.
And yes now I do understand as u said that all viewers are not mothers and they should have been responsible about it.
Hope I could clear myself.
Again sorry if I offended u!

Hi ALL,
Just wanted to add my two cents about what I understood from the speech,or what I think the creatives are trying to convey.

Mothers are always selfish in their love for their kids.(most mothers are),especially in India where marriages are more for the perks and less for love, kids being one of them.

As in Mothers take love also as an investment, because they have no choice but to turn to their sons for emotional support and physical support,as most husbands(in that generation) take more than give to their wives.

As to why Ishwari does not love her daughters to this extent, she does love them a lot,but she is obsessed with Dev because shes see her future in Dev,Her budhape ka saahra.

She wants to be instrumental in Devs life, one way or the other, her statement that "Daftar ke kaamon main Dev ke liye kuch bhi nahi kar sakti proves that.So she tries to a part of Dev s life through household duties, but when she sees Sona taking that place or asking him to be self dependent, she becomes insecure.

...coz,she sees that as the start of her becoming obsolete.

I have no issues with yesterday's episode, coz I did not see a proud mother, rather an aging mother insecure of her future.

"Mera beta mujhe vanvaas nahi bhejega" was the crucial dialogue.

But cvs have to handle all this properly, rather than showing her insecurities as her limitless love and glorifying her, they should show Sona empathising with her insecurities.Because she needs that assurance from Sona, because she clearly sees her as a threat to her identity.

I hope they have the courage to show that, because Ishwari is a very beatifully framed character.
Someone who is totally gray.

This serial has a lot of potential content wise for brilliant depiction through celluloid.

I just wish the screenplay and script does the justice.
