We have all ranted and expressed our views on this very complex and frankly, frustrating character; however, yesterday's episode (08/30) really irked me to a new height. I've never posted a topic before, so I apologize for the length. After Mr. Bose confronts her along with the blame of Devakshi's demise, she goes into an extreme sense of self-inflicted blindness. Not only is this seen when she's has a fake facade and defending her "strong" son to Mr. Bose, but also when she's supposedly venting out her sadness to her brother.
I mean, isn't she at least supposed to be genuine with her brother? But instead, this woman continues to hide behind a heavier self-construed curtain of delusion. She tells Mamaji that she never verbally opposed Devakshi's relationship by directly complaining to Dev.
But let's not forget how incredibly juvenile and downright atrocious her behavior and actions were upon learning about their sweet affair. Her stubborn, harsh words even brought tears to not only Sona's but even her beloved Dev's eyes. For a mother that claims her son's happiness is of the utmost importance in her life, she sure is quite conniving and hypocritical.
Examples include: Birthday Sari when she knew what made him happy but wore a different one to prove a point; purposely demanding and hanging a family portrait without Sona, even though Dev wanted her in it; Not allowing Sona to even come close to sick Dev although he was mumbling her name and asking for her in dire need; plus more to count.
Upto a certain and very rational extent, I get how she was a little hurt when Dev started grouping his Maa and Sona into the same category of importance when he was in a predicament, especially before he revealed his special relationship. Being somebody's confidant in difficult situations and just suddenly having to share that with another without warning can be a little hard at first. But every single thing after and other than that just cannot be justified.
Ishwari Dixit has fought her fair share of battles and faced hardships, but her current behavior is by nowhere the means of a "caring, nurturing, pure mother" as she so artificially paints herself as. I really hope Dev can witness her hidden motives, ideally with the her intentions with Sona's alliance. At the end, the truth will hurt Dev and Sona a lot more, because their love and respect for Ishwari.
Thanks for reading and would love to hear any thoughts on this.
