its pretty clear the moment ishwari pleads and dev begs, she is going to go running and then after marriage its back to square one...she will again be be the spineless sona trying to impress mom in law and dev

Here I would definitely defend Dev. It wasn't a joke for him. He just realised his love and handled a bad situation as best as he could. He was concerned for Natasha and explained it to her accepting his fault for breaking it to her at the eleventh hour.

Sona moving on is a fault I actually liked. It made her real rather than a Mary Sue who does no wrong. That makes her less of Sona the saint and more of Sona a human being.

I was of the opinion that she would be spineless post marriage but she put them to rest with that Ishwari/GKB confrontation.

I would trust her to take a stand when the situation demands. And not behave like a GKB for every small issue.

We already have a doormat in Dev, Sona doesn't need to join the club as well.
