For me its not just about patch up ...its about Sona not getting the respect in that house and Dev not understanding this point.

1) I felt he didn't have to fight for his love hence he doesn't understand the value of Sona . He takes her for granted.

2) He thinks Sona's family will not have a problem in accepting him , he has taken them for granted too and never showed the need to understand them.

3) His lady is being treated as a glorified servant at his home , he knows that but has not done anything to change the situation

4) Even if he doesnt openly accept , he needs to understand abt his mom's insecurities and obsessive nature towards him

5) His family needs to value his likes and dislikes too. As of now he is being taken for granted. No one actually values for his happiness in his family . He is more of an ATM machine. He needs to understand this point .This can only change when he is snatched of some thing that is his . And we all know Sona is the only thing in his life he wanted for himself.
6) Before marriage its imp that the family learns to respect his decision as the patriarch of that family only then will his wife be respected.

If Dev plans to bring Sona home as his wife , then the above issues have to be sorted. Its better to break up before marriage than after. Hence we need a break up...so that Dev realises the value of love and at the same time his family treats him as the head of the family.

Unfortunately the makers seem to have got the wrong impression.
