Yesterday I made my first post here in this forum. Today I am starting a discussion thread 😆.

Some of you may know me from earlier interactions. My name is Priti. Forget the regular "I don't watch may shows etc etc" saga I normally start my rant with. I like Shaheer and Erica's acting, they are very nice as a lead pair. But unfortunately for me, I started watching the show very recently. I am yet to catch up on the initial episodes... and it is already time for their "break-up" 😕. So, in my own self-interest (and for my own sanity) I was wondering if a "break-up" was the best way forward?

Well, it is a story, and there are probably certain rules that the creatives have to follow for huge impact. And we can all guess how this is going to end! So, I don't mind giving this new separation track and shot. And I agree that for the story to move forward, a separation was necessary, but a break-up? I know that they don't sound very different, but isn't there a difference? Let me explain -

(I am aware that I could be jumping the gun here, and the story may unfold totally differently, but the recent comments and segments indicate the heart-break and rude Dev etc etc. So I am assuming that Dev is cutting off all and any connection with Sona, and my comment is only from that perspective)

Dev could not take a chance after his mother's recent (near future in the show) drama. He has to be cautious. But two people as intelligent and mature and smart and balanced as Dev and Sona can handle this situation better, without so much heart break. Ishwari has a problem with Dev's growing fondness for Sona. She does not like sharing his attention. She knows she is wrong in feeling this way, but she cannot help the way she feels. So, Dev and Sona parting ways is the most obvious way to go. But did they have to break all ties (the way it is being indicated). Could they not have had a heart-heart conversation about it? Instead of plainly choosing his mother over Sona, could Dev have not discussed with Sona and made her understand that there can never be anyone else for him, but unfortunately his situation forces him to give up on the best thing that happened to him in his life? At-least Sona would know that Dev really loves her. She would know his reasons for his action. She would know why he has to do what he is doing.

If the story went that way, Dev and Sona would still be separate and miserable without each other. But at-least they would have the satisfaction of knowing that they still love each other? They could still be each other's strength. They could try and attempt to be each other's friends but fail miserably because they cannot be "just friends" anymore. They could still talk over phone and miss each other terrible not knowing what to say. They could show so many things if they just didn't break things off. And truly, there is no necessity for them to break things off completely. They could make a really good story with a forced separation too... I truly hope that is the way the story goes, but I doubt it very much

What do you guys think?

Nice thoughts...I agree with you ..we need to wait and watch how they would proceed with the breakup...from initial promos it's clear that they will be in touch even after their breakup..so whatever you have written might come true ...Dev might explain his helplessness and as Sona once said when you love someone you will wait for them throughout your life will understand his dilemma and might support him...initially Sona might take sometime to accept the reality and will be heartbroken thathe might be the scene aired on sbs
Eventually Sona will comr around and even with Sona's support Dev might not be able to forgive him for whatever happened and might turn into Rude Dixit ...

Lovely post.😊

This is for sure that they can't stay away from eachother for long. Dev will definitely find reasons to see her or meet her. We'll get the old restless Dev back. And a headstrong but lifeless Sona. Lets see how the story progresses further.

Hi. I am mostly a silent reader - but now feel that I must put forward my view. I think dev breaks up with sona in such a harsh way because he knows that sona would never willingly leave him
He has to hurt her so badly that she wouldnt think of him again
Also I feel he does not want her to live in uncertainty of the future. I think he will be more unhappy than sona and will also be sad and miserable without sona.

I also feel after seeing the initial promos sona will understand along the way the real reason why dev broke up with her and will love him even more

yes I want Dev & Sonakshi to be with each other ...thought separate and be each others strength...and he still feels at home when he share his day with Sona...may be daily of SKYPE...I know I know guys I am going in DEVAKSHI world...but the way story has shaped...just love both Dev & Sonakshi characters...and just can't see episode where they are actually not talking to each other...initially Dev may break up but he would not be able to stay away from her and by his way...he would be keeping eye on Sona and see that she has lost smile...might again start meeting her occasionally and start calling also...what say...we just want Devakshi...

I want Ishwari & Dev sis to miss her to core...

I think we are reading about break up happened and saw sona crying but didn't know how the break up scene played out. What words exchanged between them . I think they didn't shoot break up scene still. Other wise SBS will give a segment about the scene. So I think we should wait for the breakup scene. Then we can come any conclusion.

Hi Priti ,nice topic for discussion seeing the forum is on fire from the segments.
The break up with Sona actually goes with Dev's characterization until now. He is not emotionally mature. Even in the beginning when he wanted Sona to accept the Job he terminated her from her Job n then closed all other doors for her so that she will have no option but to accept his offer. That time too he panicked because of his mothers dwindling health. He was completely insensitive to Sona emotionally, never caring about her career, her job satisfaction n good will. The more she resisted the more he panicked.

He worships his mother for what she went through for them, her fights, never succumbing and bringing them to this point with her head held high. If he knows that his love for Sonakshi is the reason behind her condition he will definitely put an end to it because of his guilt. Ishwari have always used this to get things done her way without openly expressing. This time though unintentional the effect will be the same.

For Ishwari to face her inner demons she should reach a breaking point and that is Dev's breakdown. He will be completely shattered after the break up which may not have been the case if it was a separation with mutual consent. As long as there is hope he may not have returned to the rude young man he was before. If Sona after a period of time really tries to move on Dev will be in agony.

The silver lining in this is that their relationship is very strong and they are completely honest with each other unlike the mother-son duo who thinks they know each other inside out and never expresses what they really feel. Just my POV.

Agree with all of you. It is nice to get a different perspective isn't it.

I haven't seen the earlier episodes, so don't know how or what Dev did for Sona to come and work with them. He seems like a fairly well balanced guy now, and hence the assumption that he has always been this way 😃

I guess we will see what happens !

Hi Priti !!! Nice to see you here too ! Missed those Dahleez times..
I have a slightly different view. I think Dev will be horrified that his mother overdosed on sleeping tablets and attempted suicide. She won't tell him why and will over hear Mamaji talking to Ishwari and assume she disapproves of Sona. Gareeb ki Beti will stir fry on high heat also to aggravate things against Sona.

As seen on SBS, Sona arrives to visit Ishwari too. That might upset Dev, since he assumes her as the reason the mother doesn't want to live anymore. I hope he doesn't overreact and place blame on her for distracting him from his beloved mother. Or say harsh words saying their relationship is the reason and reject it.

Dev is very emotional when it comes to his mother. He might just in the heat of guilt just toss Sonakshi out in horror than he hurt his mum. That will hit Sonakshi so hard, I'm so scared for her. He will regret it, and she won't forget it.

😭 can you imagine the guy you love breaking off with you because his mother doesn't approve? It's like a direct hit to the solar plexus of your soul. I'm so glad that her family is ironclad strong support.

I so wished in an alternate plot line, they decided to take it slow and see each other for a year before marriage. That way Ishwari could have eased into her presence instead of it being shoved down her throat..

Hi Priti! And yes we have met, I don't remember where exactly... perhaps greys anatomy?
Anyways though I would rather want to see them still meeting each other and trying to be there for each other... even without a relationship, like probably what was shown in the initial promos... I too think that wouldn't settle this issue. Sona did say I would not leave you even if you leave me... sigh
Dev for one wouldn't dare to keep being in touch with Sona knowing that their relationship put his mother's life to threat. And like [@gmgi] said Dev hitting bottom is the only thing that can make Ishwari rethink. That is what is going to make her guilty of taking the smile away from Dev which had for once appeared. She would learn that she would rather have her son smile than just have him all the time (hopefully). So if this heartbreak will bring them bk... let's get ready to endure it too...

And lol you should watch from the start... it is going to help you endure tomorrow better + it's awesome! And yes Dev is an extremes kind of guy! While Sona is realistic yet a dreamer...
