It is pleasant, indeed, while the summer lasts
with the mild pheasants' song ...
but now I feel the northern wind's blast
its severe weather strong.
Alas! Alas! This night seems so long!
And I, because of my momentous wrong
now grieve, mourn and fast.
It had been two hours since Sonakshi left . Dev was still sitting in her apartment, feeling totally empty and confused and anxious at the same time. He did not know what to do because he did not know what is going on.
Somewhere deep inside his heart he was expecting Sona to call him and open up. He had seen her exuding every sorts of emotion but for the first time he could not comprehend what she was going through. Ticking clock was not helping him either.
Finally he could not hold himself any longer and got out of the car. She might not like him coming after her at this hour,or she might have even gone to sleep. But he had to see her before going home. His instincts were screaming.
Surprisingly the door was unlocked. "heights of carelessness", he murmured.
"Sonakshi", he screamed , no answer.
"Why the hell is your door unlocked. Are you planning on getting robbed or something?"he added. And again no response!
He entered inside.Worried and angry at the same time.
"Where are you? I swear ..." , his words died. There she was ,on the floor..her eyes closed!
In no time Dev was by her side.
"Sona,,,sona wake up..Sona what happend? Please open your eyes" he begged shakily.
"Sonakshi!!!!", he felt her pulse...is was working..thank god...but it was a bit slow.
Dev picked her up and laid her on her bed.
"Sona please get up. You have got no f**king right to do this to me..do you understand." He screamed now. Sona was motionless. There was something errie in her expression even though she seemed peaceful.
Finally his logical side of the brain kicked in. His mobile was dead. He looked around and got hold of her mobile and dialled 911.
"hello...this is an emergency...I am at my friend's place and she is not opening her eyes..something is wrong. Please come",he sobbed brokenly after giving his address.
"Sir, we will take few minutes to reach there..please stay calm" ,and the line was disconnected.
Dev had no other option but wait.
He took her hand and rubbed it ,hoping she will open her eyes very soon. Something fell from her hand. He bent and picked it.
A syringe!!! What?!!
The help arrived . Everything which happend after that was like a blur to him. He had no idea when they picked up Sona and put her in the ambulance, as well as escorted him to the hospital as well. Clearly his mental state was not good.
Dev woke up in the morning. Aware that he is sprawled across the hospital bed. The sun was shining bright and he wished someone could close the window.
Finally he got up and suddenly realised that he has a severe headache.
The doctor was sitting beside his bed.
Everything came back to him
"Sona..how is she doc?"
"Mr. Dixit,your friend is fine...she is your friend am i right?"
"Yes"
"Ok...if you dont mind i need you to answer some of my questions"
Dev nodded.
"How long have you known her?"
"We are childhood friend"
"I see...has she confided something to you recently? I mean has she been disturbed mentally or emotionally recently?
Dev did not know what to say.
"Doctor, she is an emotional person. And yes she had her fair share of issues in her life. But she is not so weak as to attempt a suicide..."
"Mr. Dixit, she did not try to end her life. It seems like your friend is on heroine. And I am afraid but looks like she has been taking it since long"
"Meaning?" Now Dev was blank.
"Meaning your friend is a drug addict, mr. Dev" , Doc replied sympathetically.
Dev's face lost its colour. Does he even know this girl?!
[Note: Hello Guys, I know I know I have been really really late in posting this update. But I got engaged and then married and had to move ..and man...marriage changes the life!!!!!! In fact i had forgotten all about this fan fiction..till few days back when suddenly i came across some of the unread mails in my inbox. I was touched by the fact that so many of you all have been waiting for the next chapter...and to all those my friend i apologize for making you all wait so long...
