One aspect of the story that many on this forum (judging by posts and comments) wish to see - a more passionate or should I say greater demonstration of physical attraction :)

I have been wondering about why the makers are going slow on that one when it is commonplace to show the same on Indian TV and actors are also prepared to enact the usual scenes...

There may be several reasons for this. Some of them to do with the story line and some to do with the storytelling strategy of the makers.

They did not focus on this aspect much till sharing of feelings because that would mean that Dev has to reflect on them but they clearly wanted him to reflect only prior to engagement with N. :)

Post that they have shown that Dev is making some attempt but has managed to understand that his otherwise confident Sona is delightfully reticent in this department so he is not rushing her. There was a lovely post the other day titled "Permission" in which the post maker called attention to the scene outside Neha's room when he thanks for being for being ok with it. The actors expressions in that scene were a delight to watch...

They probably also need to tread carefully here because a Dev who pursues a girl like Sona (one who he knows has never dated, is very serious about relationships and is looking for "the ONE") in all ways including initiating a physical relationship will look very bad walking away from it..

Of course the makers may just be pacing themselves. After all the show is only 100 episodes old and the leads are already in a relationship, very fast for Indian shows - usually by this time they get started on their second misunderstanding..:)

To retain the audience's interest they have pace themselves and if they explore every dimension now, they end up with fewer cards up their sleeves for the next 100 - 200 episodes.

Does this make sense?

I actually like the progression of DevAKshi's relation
none is rushing it and both are concentrating on building the pillars to their relationship making that firmer
if they start now with their passion then soon that too will become just like another love story but this couple is unique and this is exactly what draws the fans to them .

Lovely post! I quite agree with most of what you've written. As far as I know and what I have gathered from the statements of the makers of the show is that they're more focused on subtlety.. As the 'Permission' post highlighted, not even a single dialogue was used to convey Sonakshi being ready to take the next step in their relationship.. I would say this is a bold move on their part, they're taking a leap of faith by trusting the viewers to figure this out on their own, and it is paying off handsomely as everyone is praising the show for its feel good factor and lack of melodrama! Although I do feel they should show some more intimacy between the leads as it is a necessary part of a mature relationship.. but as you very correctly pointed out, the show is still relatively new and I trust the makers to show us whatever we need :)

Loved your thoughts on 'What women want' ...

For a change, makers of an Indian TV show have done one of the best things - acknowledged that the audience is intelligent and their simple, straight forward writing confirms this!
The phase Indian television is going through showcasing stories I cannot begin to describe, this show has simply broken through the clutter and compelled some really insightful discussions. The discussions here are as much a pleasure as the show itself...

Yesterday was a century completed and they do need to pace themselves to journey onwards but for some reason, I was left 'disturbed' after watching the episode yesterday. It answered many questions, packed many emotions in short 22mins but something somewhere just wasn't right. But I reserve all my thoughts until tonight's episode as I have seen the Writers usually address unfinished sentiments in the next episode...

Just addressing the much-awaited & now much talked about Kiss on the forehead. It portrayed the reflex action of someone upset with a loved one. 'I love you but I am upset and need space'. Dev in the heat of moment doing what he would naturally do if not treading carefully around Sona's reticence. This was him being him! Nice...

Although the whole scene took me back to their earlier disagreement (again due to different approaches to Neha-Ranveer) when Dev offered Ranveer a job and Sona got offended with the 'class difference' statement. As Sona walked away, we got a restless Dev waiting in the rain for 2hrs to tell Sona never ever to walk away without finishing a fight. A promise that Sona made then & she kept it by calling out to him the next morning...
Dev however walked away now, couldn't get himself to call her, couldn't make the first move to bridge the gap. He sat at the dining table throwing glances at her & would have walked away then if she hadn't stopped him...

A promise Dev made Sona make but couldn't get himself to act on it!

Makes me think of many promises he's been making!! but the few Sona makes, she will stand by them...

Sorry... This went on for longer than I intended... Owe it to my 'disturbed' state and the engaging show that this is 😃
and guess the strategy is to focus on the passionate emotions now and keep the physical expression for when words may not work 😊

I hope the makers continue in this vein, especially now that they are entering the tricky phase. This is the real litmus test actually. Can they show a strained relationship on account of issues at his end and still make it palatable, no engaging for the largely female audience?

Lovely reply and I found myself nodding as I read it.

I know that yesterday's episode showcased all the main plot elements of this show but I was not a happy viewer at the end of it..

Somehow after watching yesterday's episode I ended up feeling bad for Sona being caught in the midst of this complex Dixit family dynamic. Strangely enough I did not get that feeling because of that scene with Ishwari because that one actually made sense. She does not know they are in a relationship so she can feel emotional about her son not eating something she knows he loves and which she made with a lot of effort. My mother is that way too, she makes stuff that is unhealthy but will obviously be hurt if we avoid it completely.

I felt bad for Sona after her cafe date with Dev actually. The vibes from the scene indicate a relationship driven by him - when to get into it, when to make it public (even when it seemed to mean a lot to her to go public but he dismissed it rather casually), when to stay apart with little room for her to influence any major milestone. Even all the love that he showers on her somehow could not banish that feeling..

I really liked this line in another thread ...Sona needs to move out of Dixit house, needs to stop roaming the house looking for someone to heal...Her value in his life is not on account of her ability interfere and help him resolve his family issues. I so want her to have a life of her own..Post the accident phase, that aspect diminished on the show, everything about Sona became about Sona-Dev whereas there are many things about Dev on the show that have nothing to do with Sona. I would have liked the fight to be about Dev/Sona and not Neha who does not even know Sona..

To your point on his approach to the fight and his promises - agree. He made her agree on how they would handle disagreements but did not stick to the template himself! Perhaps the makers wanted to show balance. After all they made him wait in the rain when she walked away, so they wanted her to make the move this time :) Which is all right as long as it was just about this disagreement..I do hope he is able to fulfill the promises he made to this girl. It is he who initiated the relationship, she had actually made her peace with his engagement and handled herself with dignity..

Loved the episode, it was perfect but whatever you said in bold above is very true..was thinking about that...it is hinting towards the future track..where Sona will be the one standing by Dev no matter what comes..he made her promise not to leave without completing any argument but left himself..when he left I felt so empty when Sona was watching him leave..

This situation was different..looking forward to see how Dev will not let Sona go away from his life..I am hoping that the CVs will show us a fighter Dev..may be initially he will choose his mom but as time passes he will realize what Sona is to him and he will fight to get her back..

Lovely post😊
I agree with what you have said here.
It is not that this PH makes stories in sweet zone, both its shows Sadda Haq and JNDSD have been quite bold in their approach towards lovestories. So, if the subtlety is being potrayed. .then it is intentional. The story telling here is the major factor. The story is about two people who both have never fallen in love before, one of them has always been waiting for her love story and the other never thought about it.
Like you said, it will look bad if they show him walk away after being physically close to her, considering both the characters are very graceful in how they carry themselves.
So , I totally second the fact that intensity and physical expression of love will be used when words won't be able to suffice their feelings. Yesterday also, this was potrayed.
About the kiss, as beautifully simple it was, It certainly indicated that Dev wanted to avoid conflict with her,the way he looks at her face a second before kissing the forehead, It looked as if he was strongly holding himself back from the argument because of love, he decided it is better to leave.
That second showed he wanted to say so much more, but he gets up and just kisses her forehead and leaves, without looking back.

But him leaving like that made me feel bad for Sona too. She is stuck in a bad situation. Dev is the one emotionally controlling the relationship fornsure, inspite of Sona being the mature one.

I feel it's because of the same reason (Dev controlling the relationship, I mean) - because Sona is the mature one and Dev has much to grow emotionally.

I did come away yesterday feeling bad for Sona and definitely not because of Sona-Ishwari scene. That was beautifully done and Supriyaji is a brilliant actress...
