Well so much for sleeping early today. Let me make this quick. Or well... let me try and do something I almost always fail at.
Finally Mr. Gujral makes a reappearance, even if it's on paper (quite literally 😆). Err small note: To my knowledge, news articles never mention one's name as Mr. Gujral, Mr. Dixit etc., especially in the title. Maybe the makers forgot to invent a first name for the guy. 😆 You can even use last names but without the titles Mr./Mrs./Ms. 🤓 Anyway I'm glad they finally showed that Dev did suffer some repercussions from the alliance breaking. I was almost beginning to wonder if Mr. Gujral magically transformed into an understanding and big-hearted man... Pretty much the opposite of what we saw him to be. Nicely handled by Dev anyway... His reaction was perfectly understandable. Not only is Natasha not supporting her Father in any of this but Dev probably still regrets how things ended with her. He knows that although he did do right by her but she still got hurt in the process. Causing more pain to her is out of the question for Dev.
Once he is alone, his guilt and pain over Neha resurfaces. Very realistic. If you expect that Dev would immediately be okay after one good cry session then in Hermione Granger's words "you have the emotional range of a teaspoon." 🤣 I was glad that Sona checked up on him. I was wondering about that after the episode ended yesterday. Anyway, my favorite part of this scene was Dev's brutal honesty with Sonakshi. The concept of someone being an apna' is not a new one. But the manner in which the writers of this show have depicted it is absolutely beautiful. The freedom that Dev feels around Sona is so contradictory to how he is with other people. He's always so busy protecting his family from any of his own worries and troubles. However with Sona, he freely admits that perhaps he should have given a little more time to Neha than to this relationship. It could have hurt Sona and yet it's absolutely necessary for Dev to just share everything with her. It's funny how Dev is a little about extremes. Either he is completely closed up or he just bares his soul to you. It's taken him a long time to find someone he can really talk to... isn't that the definition of someone you can call your own? Koi aisa jisko sab batado, jisse sab kuch keh sako. Har baat, har ehsaas, har ek darr, har ek khwahish.. Sab kuch.
Sorry for suddenly rambling off into Urdu.. I could have easily written that in English too but it sounded a little more beautiful in Urdu. 😳😆
Anyway, these two and their stories... Beautiful once again. :) The simplicity with which Sona said "Because I'm yours." Haaaye. My shipper heart! It was cute to see Sona, now a fully grown adult, still lowering her voice before saying the cuss word. 😆 Dev babu... From bunnies to dogs, he finds everything associated to Sona, cute.😆 On a different note, she literally replaced those sleeping pills in this scene. I loved the smile on her face when she realized Dev had finally fallen asleep. :) There's a kind of happiness that comes with knowing that you could take care of the people you love and it was visible on her face.
Dev and Ishwari's scene.. I love how there was a perfectly logical backdrop to Dev asking Sona to do the things he normally asks his Mother to do. It was a little similar to the time when he didn't want Ishwari to make any haldi doodh for him. All he tried was to not inconvenience his Mother and it was the same today. When Ishwari says that she wishes "Dev ka mann badal jaye"... Nice bit of foreshadowing over Dev sitting in the pooja in the coming episodes. Ah Ishwari, the kind of positive influence that Sona is on Dev... I hope you open your eyes soon to it!
Sona asserting once again that Ishwari is like her own Mom - Being the cynic that I am, I would probably scoff at such statements but in Sona and Ishwari's case, I love how their relationship has progressed in a way that it feels completely natural for Sona to say that and care for Ishwari as she would for her own family. Naturally Dev babu fell in love with Sona for perhaps the 3894094th time. 😆
Ishwari walking in to find Sona going through Dev's files... I liked how the whole thing also led to Sona learning about the losses that Dev's company suffered in the wake of his engagement breaking. It was nice how Sona was somewhat casual when Ishwari came into the room. She knew she had every right to be there. Ishwari on the other hand... she's possessive enough of her son to not even care for the fact that Dev was really just trying to take care of her. What irked her instead was that he gave a certain right and responsibility to Sonakshi, something he had only ever trusted his Mother with. And to top it all, Sona's explanation was exactly what Dev himself would have said. Its little things like these that really tell you about the silent understanding and connect that two people share. No wonder Ishwari kind of lost it. *smh*
Ranveer and Neha - It's interesting how Neha is exhibiting so much understanding and patience in response to everything that's happening. If something like this were to happen at her home she wouldn't have wasted two seconds before giving everyone a piece of her mind. It shows that she does trust Ranveer to take care of everything and most importantly take care of her. She knows that she is a priority for him and that he loves her. Really tells you that Neha's problems were never entirely about material comforts but about her own significance in the eyes of her Mother and Dev. I know it won't last, it would be unrealistic afterall if she just readily accepted this new life but I'm glad that she is atleast trying. :)
The last scene between Dev and Sona wasn't just sweet but perfectly true. As guilty as she might feel about it, it wasn't her fault at all. Loved that smile that appeared on Dev's face as he says how loving her wasn't just his decision but his 'khushnaseebi'. Sona's smile in response to what he said and that look in her eyes... Erica emoted beautifully there. :)
Oh BTW... Not that I miss her, but where did ghareeb ki beti disappear after Neha's wedding? Maybe Mamaji locked her up. God bless his soul then. 🤣 And I'm too sleepy to think of an apt title so just putting up my favorite line from today. Signing off!
