It is Dev who always does everything for everyone, no one in the family does not care about his feelings much not even Ishwari. She always takes Dev for granted. I am not saying Dev does not have any faults but it just that "Selfish'' the word does not suit himself, it is too strong to describe Dev as a character.
Our problem is we always think leads of the show should be flaw less but in reality no one can be flawless. Dev does mistakes and his great virtue is that he tries to rectify his mistakes as soon as he is aware of this. That makes Dev character real and for the same reason we like him this much.

One of the most heart rendering dialogue is before Sona's accident , Dev says. Mein sab ko khush rakhana chahata hoon par rakh nahi pata. Kuch na kuch galat ho hi jata hai.

His heart is in the right place, his intention is right but the expectations are no unnatural now can a human match them all!!

He is a sincere son and a caring brother who does not have any expectations from any of his family members, in a way he only knows how to give, keep on giving and never expects anything in return. He is the sole breadwinner of the family, the caretaker and the most generous person in the Dixit household. To be precise his world revolves around his mother and his three sisters. He is such a selfless person, he never thinks about himself and his priorities, thus when it struck him how he spent some sparing moments for himself on his sister's wedding day, he felt guilty. Which made me think so his journey with Sona will always be guilt-ridden? Then I feel sorry for them. He has to stop feeling responsible for everything he cannot do for the four ladies in his house. He has to let it go. After all he is a human being and he cannot be perfect all the time.

@ bold... that is my worry.. that will stop him from talking to Ishwari about Sona.. His own guilt for being happy... 😭 and that is the most difficult and sensitive issue to handle for the CVs.

External villains can be handled but how will he fight his own demons is what makes the journey so interesting to watch.

Fabulous Post

Its true Dev studying and working hard to attain his dreams not just for himself but for his family
so when he started working his mother should take that step forward and be there for her three daughters comfort them and start a bond but she did not and that's the reason whenever Neha saw Ishwari comforting Dev or smiling with him or giving him advice Neha would always feel sad perhaps jealous too because she got that from her mother .
Neha telling Dev to make Ranveer rich and she'll forgive him but Dev too had a difficult life true Neha had to take care of her younger sisters and could study like Dev did but why blame Dev .
her love for her brother seems to be bound by limits and conditions

I totally agree with you. Dev has lived his entire life for others. For once he has lived for his self and everybody started calling him the selfish and irresponsible. Dev always have to do everything for everyone and expect nothing in return. Once he fails, everyone gets angry on him. Neha has suffered agreed but dev has suffered too and dev was not responsible for neha's suffering, still he has taken all the blames. He is human being and not God. All those getting angry on him wants a typical serial where leads are not human beings but GOD. This show is trying to show what is close to reality where leads can for sometime be self -oriented.
Also, we should not forget it is serial so they won't show daily mundane work but something different and entertaining. So, dev focussing on sona doesn't mean he don't do any work or he forgot about ishwari or his sisters. They can't keep on showing same thing again and again like dev going to office, giving medicine to ishwari or caring his sisters.

Oh man!! Gonna be blunt here!! Love you for this post 😆 can't agree more to what you've said.
Dev is 27 years old, his dad died when he was 10... For 17 freaking years, the only thing that has been on his mind is his mother & his sisters...the need to fulfill everything & the need to support them is what he's ever thought about.. And boom one day he falls in love & he's thinking about himself for the first time & he becomes irresponsible???? Not that he shrugged away from his duties as a son & a brother... Give that man a chance to live his life.. And if this is called being selfish!! Oh am so glad he's selfish & he ought to be one.

Initially the emphasis was too much about him, his mother & his sisters. Now it's him & Sona. And in due course of time he'll learn how to balance his family on one side & his love on the other... Someone mentioned in another post, don't seem to remember whom... 'Dev is one of the most beautiful flawed character'. So true! I love the fact that he isn't perfect...
