I think CV are trying to show that Sona will choose Dev her true love over Neel who is a better than Dev in all sense ..at same time Dev will choose Sona over Natasha who is ideal patner to him...

Neel and Natasha are more common for me . Both of them are from rich family .
Born with silver spoon - no struggle for money and survival.
Whereas DEV is because of his hard work , intelligence and over burden of family responsibilities
Same with Sona - she is from middle class understand the value of money . Even she is taking care of family responsibilities like DEV ( otherwise she won't accept DIXIT job offer ) .

So Sona falls in love with 1) Dev struggling stories ( accident track and how his teacher told her regarding his childhood stories ) 2) Dev attitude towards needy people
3) His responsible and caring nature towards every family member
4) How DEV being the entire world upside and down for her life

So in every manner Sona should choose DEV over NEEL because indeed he is the best .
Point is NEEL is good but DEV is best 😉

NEEL is more successful because his dad is more successful.
NEEL has got got everything in plate . He just need to expand the dad empire
Where as DEV need to start from scratch.

If NEEL and DEV both face financial crisis , am sure DEV will able to cope the stress more than NEEL .
Or you can say for me a self made man is huge +++ points over readymade successful men
