Dear diary,

I stare into eyes that once reflected purity

I stare into eyes that once showed courage

I stare into eyes that once held truth

I stare into eyes that once held dignity

I stare into eyes that once inspired trust

I stare into eyes that once stood for right

I stare into eyes that once never cowered

I stare into eyes that once wished for my happiness

I stare into eyes that once made my heart skip a beat

I stare into eyes that once I saw a future with

Today I stare into those very same eyes... Searching

And yet, I cannot see what I once saw...

Today I see...Pain, fear, complaint, disappointment...

I wonder... Have the eyes changed... Or I, the reader

Dear diary,

How long am I supposed to be harsh?

How long am I supposed to be angry?

How long am I supposed to not care?

How long am I supposed to hate?

How long am I supposed to hurt?

I hurt... I hurt deep down.

Oh why... Why did she have to be the one thing I hate? Why!

The one thing that has brought nothing but grief in my life... And continues to do so.

The one thing that fills my mother with pain, fear...

I can't bear the tears, the anguish in my mother's eyes...

Eyes that look to me to right all the wrongs done...

Every time I see her...

My heart still skips a beat...

Her soulful eyes reminding me of what was...

Reminding me of the dreams I had nurtured...

I look away afraid that I shall forget my mother's pain...

No longer reading eyes that hold the lyrics to the rhythm of my heart...

I am tired... Tired of pretending...
