Tracing the journey of three generations of women - Kumudini, Tulsi and Aradhya - Krishndasi, which premieres tonight at 10.30 pm, focuses on their contrasting personalities. While the family's matriarch, Kumudini (Indira Krishnan), holds great pride in her lineage, her daughter Tulsi (Chhavi Mittal) feels otherwise and strives to protect her daughter Aradhya (Sana Amin Sheikh) from their legacy.
Commenting on her role, Indira says, "Krishndasi as a concept is both bold and culturally rich. Kumudini has great strength, power and pride in her legacy. I had to understand her psyche and deliver it on screen in the best possible manner."
Speaking about Aradhya's character, Sana says, "Aradhya is an enigma. She is headstrong like today's self-motivated women and wants to find out the truth. But her strength can also be a hindrance, as the shadows of her past can affect her present."
Chhavi, a reel-life and real-life mother, states, "Tulsi is willing to go to any length to protect her daughter from the world. However, she has a strong history that connects directly with her Krishndasi roots. She has taken a stand and is adamant that her daughter will not follow her family's ways. Being a mother in real life, the intrinsic emotions of her character come naturally to me. I can feel her pain and anguish, and that has helped me tremendously."
Shravan Reddy plays the male protagonist in the series. Uday Tikekar, Jiten Lalwani and Shweta Mahadik make the rest of the cast. As elements of love, mystery, struggle and self-discovery unfold, this drama, which is set in present-day Pune, promises to attract attention.
