Anu calls up her hero and they meet near a tree..She tells him that folks at home are pressurizing her for the impending wedding and so he better take a stance. Mano says his mom and dear sis are currently busy with UN's death and are at their house (nalla time paartha idhai kEtkaradhukku? oru vevasthayE illai) and as soon as they come home, he will talk to them. And he says he understands her concerns and wants very much to marry her as well. (abhi kaila ivvaLavu paNam paartha piragu and that too the way she vaari vazhugufies for basker's family, maybe Mano thought he can add on Anu as a free loader). They depart.
Alamelus...
Alamelu is sitting with Basker lying down in a mat, Vidhya staring at the space along with KKK and Abhi, elavated to sitting on a bench due to her paNakkaara status (TC's logic - he cant very well say due to her pregnancy). and Chithi comes (in the same pattu saree she was wearing for abhi's nichayadhartham, cant she change?) and calls Alamu to come eat. Alamu for a change points to maaji-sammandhi and asks her to feed KKK and says, i have been observing her since morning (iva enga paarthaa? rasa, raasa nnu koovikinE irundhaa?) and she has worked non-stop and she must be tired. Please take her inside and give her food. Chithi calls Basker, he refuses, Vidhya refuses and then Alamu starts her howling...She calls for raasa and says, if only UN had been alive, he would have been real happy that all his favourite people (meaning abhi and co) are at his place. but no, he had to die for being a good man. She further lies and says that UN was a guy who would never rest and was always on the move (to do what? he never earned a penny, according to her and to me, he was always walking slowly as if in constant joint pain - maybe from Alamu's girth and walk, that was fast, I suppose). she says he was such a genuinely nice person and God has to take him? while bad people survived? (indha nelailayum she did not say, i shd have gone instead of him).
KKK refuses to eat and says she is not hungry but Alams insists that she eat and so she gets up. Alams in a rare gesture, tells Vidhya to get a good sElai from inside and give it to KKK since she has not even changed since that morning. KKK goes like a bali aadu behind Vidya...(probably thought it was small compensation for abhi spending so much....kedacha varaikkum laabam).
Chithi calls Abhi but she is not hungry as well..(why are they dera adichufying here? shouldn't they go their houses?) But chithi insists and Abhi gets a call from Ganga who says she just now heard abt UN and sorry abt that and if Abhi wants her help. Abhi says all is covered at this end. Ganga wants to know if Abhi can come site-seeing the next morning and Abhi says yes. (oh, i forgot, in between polambals, alamu manages to mention that UN always called her alamelu, unakku ivvalavu periya pottu evvalavu azhagaa irukku? and now she can't even keep pottu on her nethi..- i was reminded of thillana mohanambal - vaithi coming to see vadivu (padminis mom) and commenting, ivvalavu periya nethi, adhil avvalavu periya pottu, irukku vechukkara) I shudder at the thought of UN-Alamelu romancing....and am sure do did others, including Basker and Vidya. Chithi also bids Alamelu to quit her crying since her offsprings are depending on her...
Dinner table at the rich and the famous...
Adhi and co are having dinner and Kanchana and Usha are serving them. Kanchu wants her son to have more rotis and Usha also insists that he ate very little and he glares at her. Kanchu is happy abt that glare. He tells her abt the meeting the next day to legalize his and Rekha's partnership. Usha's face changes and dead beat dad opens his mouth. He asks Adhi to consider his words and pay credence to it without getting angry. Eashwar then says, what is the need to partner with someone? all along Adhi has done his business independently and he will lose his individuality because of this partnership and will be difficult to make independent decisions. Adhi is mad that Usha instigated this talk from Eashwar and asks Eashwar to shut up and he will take care of his own business. Eashwar continues that Rekha's dad is a politician and nothing good will come of it in the end but Adhi is relentless and blames Usha again for this advice. Eashwar is angry and washes his hands in his plate (haven't they heard of wash basins?) and walks away, with Usha calling him. Anu is perturbed but Anjali is pleased at this. Paatti is conveniently once-again absent. (went for Hindu interview i think).
a posh garden club...(acc to TC but they had plastic tables and chairs)
Ganga is approaching a team of 3 men at a table, two of which are playing chess. They are none other than nadadhur narasimhan, Gangaikondan govindhan and rangapuram Raghavan...(their last names are the ones given by TC but matradellaam naan kodathadhu)..the trio is happy playing and drinking..Narasimhan is happy to see Ganga and tells her he has good lucrative business opportunity for her but she has to promise him something in return first. Ganga tells Raghavan that he is about to lose in the game and says she will take over his game and win; so saying she ousts Raghavan and sits in his chair and immediately checkmates Narasimman's move. Ganga says, you haven't even said what the business deal is and before that you want a cut of it; Narasimman says that he doesn't want money as he has it in plenty; he says, this was a nice club with exclusive private rooms and if Ganga was in agreement......Rangapuram R and Gangaikondan G are watching this with glee and anticipation; to partake in the spoils? Ganga's face changes and she counters his chess move and says, nee thOkkapOradaa narasimma and needless to say, NN is shocked. He tells her she may not like his proposition but that is no excuse for talking to him like this with 'da'; she says, you yourself have demeaned your status in my eyes; he says after all, she is in event management and such sort of invites shouldn't shock her; she says, as long as i like a person, be it a beggar even; it doesn't matter if he is rich or poor, intelligent or not (she deliberately didn't say ugly or beautiful, marandhum kooda TC pakkam pOgalai), then I will go with him; but if I don't like a person, then that is it. She then asks if he still wanted to list out his money-making deal. He says yes, and that he was waiting for a big shot to come and in the parking lot, we see Adhi alighting from his car and he comes to their table and takes a seat..
Narasimman asks Ganga if she knows who he is and she says, of course and says he is Adhithya, the man behind Adhitha builders, A interior decors, A constructions, A investments and the pivotal and prime force behind A group of industries and Adhi is pleasantly shocked/surprised..
