| Anuj Saxena (Kkusum's Abhay) has been asked by producer Ekta Kapoor's father Jeetendra to stay on in the Balaji show.
Two weeks ago, Saxena had announced that he was quitting the Sony daily as he was fed up of the production house's erratic style of functioning. But after being called by Jeetendra, Saxena has decided to stay — for now. Couldn't say no
"Yes, I am continuing with Kkusum," says the doctor-turned-actor. "I was unhappy with the way things were being conducted.
But post my announcement to walk out, there have been new developments which have made me stay put."
Saxena was called for a meeting by Jeetendra. "I have known Jeetu uncle since childhood. We have been family friends. So with him and his family it is a very special relationship. He insisted that I meet him and we ended up chatting on everything and anything. I know there is no way I can say no to him."
Earlier, Saxena was also summoned by Sony's Tarun Katiyal for a meeting about his decision to quit Kkusum. Total chaos
What irked Saxena was the fact that the script was never ready so there would never be any bank of episodes.
Moreover, the continuous cheat shooting (that's when co-stars are not there and anyone else stands up for them as they are not visible in the frame) and last minute shoots – just a day before the telecast, threw the shoot schedule out of gear. Busy, busy, busy
So does he expect things to be better on the work front? "I have been told things will improve; let's wait and watch," says the actor.
Incidentally, Saxena was also out of Kkusum in late 2002, as he was shooting for a film then. He was replaced by Rohit Roy, but was back in six months. Saxena will be seen on the big screen in Sameer Malkan's mystery thriller Lips — The Kiss of Death.
The film's completion party is being held this weekend. The actor's recently-floated production house, Maverick, is also lining up shows for television. shaheen@mid-day.com |
