Bye Bye Kaalchakra
Here today, gone tomorrow…Star Plus is all set to bid adieu to its weekly show Kaalchakra. The serial that didn't quite garner the expected response has been on air for a year and a half. Apparently, Star Plus had paid actress Nausheen Ali Sardar a huge sum to play the lead in the show. Nausheen, who had then just walked out of Sony's Kkusum, was a big name to reckon with and Star tried their best to capitalize on her popularity. Unfortunately, it didn't shape up the way they'd expected. Despite putting in big money in terms of high remunerations and good production value, the show turned out to be a huge disappointment. Pulling it off air was the only option. "I gave my last shot for Kaalchakra on July 17. It's going off air. It was completely the channel's call," says actor Mukul Dev who plays a major role in the show. The show's lead actress Nausheen too confirms that her mega serial ends in August 2005.
