As Ganga of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, and now Kkusum, Shilpa Saklani takes on both roles minus preconceived notions. "I like a role, I take it," says she, "As simple as that."
On Day One of her Kkusum shoot, she has already shot as Ganga in the morning. The afternoon spells Kkusum for her — a wig and a dress change, and she's ready for the new character.
This Balaji daily on Sony ventures into a filmi scenario. Kkusum has suffered a memory loss and undergone plastic surgery. Her husband Abhay (Anuj Saxena) can't recognise his wife post the makeover and she can't remember him due to her memory loss!
Abhay and Kkusum brush past each other at Chennai airport. Abhay has just landed as the cops have told him that they have vital clues that Kkusum is in the city. Kkusum is on her way to Mumbai, in search of Abhay. Here are images of how Ganga becomes Kkusum…. shaheen@mid-day.com | | DUDE, WHERE'S MY CAR? Shilpa arrives on the sets wearing a wig, only to be stopped for autographs. She's distracted; she can't find her car and driver | | CLOTHESHORSE: While Shilpa makes her way to her make-up van, one of the set boys rushes in with her clothes | | ACTION! An injured Abhay and Kkusum cross each other's path at Chennai airport | | THRICE LUCKY: Kkusum's husband, Abhay (Anuj Saxena), can't believe his luck — four years into the show and three different Kkusums! | | MANE ATTRACTION: As the hairdresser straightens her tresses, Shilpa cautions her not to burn her hair… oops wig! "Go slow," she instructs, as she freshens her lipstick | | TOOTH AND NAIL: After the shot, a stray visitor on the sets catches Shilpa's fancy.
Kkusum's got protection... beware Mahi, Kali and gang! | | My husband is my son-in-law!
Amit Sareen plays Saahil, Ganga's husband in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi.
While in Kkusum, he is Kshitij, Kkusum's son-in-law!
"Yes, that's a joke," laughs Shilpa Saklani.
