I do not watch this show regularly but, as far I know KKusum and Abhay never got a divorce, she is Abhay's legal wife, they lived in different cities for 18 year is there choice, and his marriage to Mahi is illegal. So what is big deal if Kusum keeps fast for Abhay?

I agree. The same thing is happening on Piya Ka Ghar (avinash has to get a divorce from rimjhim in order for her to re-marry). If you have not leagally divorced your first wife, then your second marriage is illegitimate.....meaning it doesn't count.
Therefore, Kkusum and Abbay ARE still legally married which means that he is/was never really married to mahi unless he was divcorced from Kkusum.
See, its points like these that are not being adressed which make sense but no one brings it up. I hope they do.
