Downing kebabs like nawabs:
Where were all the TV stars (well, quite a lot) on Sunday night? At Baluchi, the Indian restaurant at InterContinental The Grand. Gurdeep Kohli, Arjun Punj, Karishma Gulzar, Kishwar Merchant, Hiten Pental and Manmeet Singh trooped into the place for the start of the Mughlai food festival (on till August 7). It was a late dinner for them after their shooting schedules, stepping out of the small screen and into the big picture at Baluchi reminiscent of the bazaars of Lucknow.
Flickering candles and colourful bangles caught your eye as also the open show kitchen with Chef Subhash Joshi and food & beverage manager Rajnish Chopra making sure you got a taste of ancient Awadh. The mood was mellow with ghazals in the air and a dance performance added to the action.
The welcome drink was thandai made with chilled milk and spices, served in he earthen kullad. The spread included murg kasturi kebab, nukti kebab, murgh mussalam, phaldari kofta curry, raspberry mutter, dal kabeela, biryanis and more. And for dessert there was rasgulla, kalakand and kesari jalebi. How sweet!
