"Aapko Dhoni pasand hai?" Arohi asked, smile never leaving her face.
"Hmm.." Arjun replied with his eyes still glued on the TV screen.
"Cricket aapka favourite sports hai?" She asked after few minutes.
He nodded while sipping his tea.
"Aapki favourite team kaun si hai?"
He didn't reply. Arohi didn't dare to ask again but just waited for the game to end, hoping he would reply.
"Tumhe kuchh dekhna ho toh dekh lo.. nai toh TV band kar dena.." Arjun got off the couch "Good Night!" and with that he was out of the living room.
Sighing, she called it a night as well.
Next morning, Arohi woke up to find him already in the bathroom. She hurried up to prepare his favourite breakfast.
She was quite happy with her newly discovered cooking skills. She may not be an expert but she was becoming one, with each passing day, especially with his favourites.
"Good Morning!" Arohi smiled as he came out, all ready in his formal wear.
"Hmm.. morning!" Arjun nodded while checking mails on his mobile.
"Breakfast?" She asked as he walked past the dining table.
"Office mein kar loonga.. I have a meeting!" Arjun walked out of the house the next minute leaving her behind with unshed tears.
Door bell disturbed her nap. Arohi glanced at the wall clock, it was 3 in the afternoon and she wasn't expecting anyone, so, she took her own time to cover the distance from her bedroom to the main door.
"What took you so long?" Arjun asked, irritated.
"Woh.. I was..." She began only to be interrupted by him "Lunch mein kya hai?" He walked inside.
Arohi gasped upon hearing his question as she didn't prepare the lunch.
"Fried rice.." She replied after few minutes of debate with her inner self.
"Hmm.. main aata hoon fresh ho ke.." He kept his files on the table and left.
"Thank you, God!" She smiled in relief as she began preparing the lunch.
By the time, he came out, lunch was ready to be served. She sent a silent prayer before serving him the fried rice, which was her fastest cooked food so far.
"Kaisa bana hai?" Arohi couldn't help but ask after a while.
"Theek hai.." He replied, typing a message on his mobile.
She sat there with a content smile, watching him eat. In the two months of their married life, this was the first time, Arjun was having lunch at home, if not with her, at least, in front of her and that was more than enough to curve Arohi's lips in a smile.
"Aapko fried rice pasand hai?" Arohi asked.
"Hmm.."
"Aapki favourite dish kya hai?"
Arjun didn't reply.
Mustering all her courage, she asked again, "Aapki favourite dish kya hai?"
"Sorry.. did you say anything?" He sipped some water "Tum dinner kar lena.. I will be late!" He picked up his files and left, without even asking if she had the lunch or not.
It was a Sunday morning and she felt as if it's the most special day ever because it was the first Sunday since their marriage, Arjun was at home. Arohi smiled, watching him reading the newspaper with no frown lines and for a change, he seem relaxed.
"Lunch laga doon?" She asked.
"Hmm.." He nodded.
"Kaisa bana hai?" Arohi asked.
"Theek hai.."
"Aapko kadhi pasand hai?" She tried to start the conversation.
"Hmm.."
"Aur kya-kya pasand hai?" Arohi asked again.
Arjun looked up from his plate, her face lit up gaining his attention but the next moment, her face fell as his mobile rang and in no time he was on his way to the office.
"Sir, Ma'am is here." His personal assistant informed him.
"Kaun Ma'am?" Arjun raised his brows in confusion.
"Your wife, Sir." His P.A. replied.
"What?" He closed his file. "Send her in."
"Hi.." Arohi entered his cabin.
"Tum yahan kya kar rahi ho?" Arjun asked.
"Aapne aaj breakfast nai kiya tha so I thought lunch.." She showed him the tiffin box.
"All right!" He said and gestured her to sit.
"Your office is really nice!" Arohi smiled. "I love the interiors!"
"Hmm.." Arjun nodded "Lunch karein?"
"Uh.. yeah!" Arohi smiled sheepishly.
"Kaisa hai?" She asked, as usual.
"Theek hai.." He nodded, as usual.
"Aapko chhole pasand hai?"
"Hmm.."
"Aap dinner mein kya lenge?"
He didn't reply, just kept eating while reading a file.
"Chilli paneer pasand hai aapko?" Arohi asked.
"Ya phir aaj bahar chalein dinner pe?" She bit her tongue as she said.
"Nai.. we can't go out today.. Aaj Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings ka match hai." She reasoned. "Aaj aap ghar jaldi aayenge na?" She filled his glass with water.
"Will you please stop your questions?" Arjun kept the spoon on the plate "I'm very busy, I have a hectic schedule and I don't know if I will be back home early or not!" He snapped. "Happy?"
"Sor.. Sorry.." Arohi managed to voice out "I shall take your leave now." She turned around to blink her tears "Please lunch kar lijiyega.." She said and walked out of his cabin.
It was almost midnight when he came back home. She was asleep but Arjun found his dinner on the table with a note that read "Sabzi microwave mein hai and I'm sorry for the afternoon. Since the very day, we got married, I'm trying to fit myself in your hectic schedule without disturbing it but guess, I failed miserably."
And since that very moment, his priorities changed.
