PART 2
"What!!! How can this happen? What the hell was the execution team doing??? Sleeping!!!"
The entire office jerked upright hearing their boss scream in the phone. D had especially had her cabin sound proofed to protect their staff's fragile hearts from such minor attacks. But looked like someone had screwed something up majorly for Arohis voice to penetrate through the acoustic sound proofing and blast in the entire office.
Arohi did scream when she was upset but usually she resorted to narrowing her eyes and give the 'I can kill you for this' stare. That was good enough to make an employee start counting his last days on earth. But her working style and no-nonsense attitude also appealed to many and hence they were no quitters in the company. Her workers did not mind getting screamed at when they were at fault, because Arohi was not an unreasonable or an unfair person. She looked after her employees equally well.
Sudhir Ahluwalia was on his way to his daughters cabin as he saw the frightened faces. Shaking his head, he continued walking and entered the war zone. He saw Arohi hang up her phone and close her eyes. Her face had become red with all the yelling and anger. After feeling composed, she took a deep breath and opened her eyes.
"Hi Dad... Sorry I wont be able to attend the Singhania meeting. There has been a mix up in the dispatch & delivery department. Two consignments have got interchanged and the clients are upset about it. I had given them my word regarding the delivery and now we are going to be one day late. Sometimes I feel I just cant leave anything to anyone."
Arohi started gathering all the required documents and pressed the bell for D.
"Arohi..." Her dads calm and soft voice froze her hands and she looked up. "Beta... itna tension mat lo. (Dont take so much tension my child.) It happens. When you're running a multi-million dollar industry, there are bound to be mistakes. So don't let it affect you so much."
"Dad... my word is on the line here! Mistakes is not the issue. The problem is that people donot understand the repercussions of their actions. If a person would do just his/her job correctly and sincerely then there will be minimal mistakes. But I guess there are still some departments which need to understand the way that I work."
"I can understand beta. My only worry is the stress that you take. You can convey the same without the screaming and yelling. Its not necessary..."
"It is dad. So that this does not repeat again... because if it does, then god help them!"
Picking up her stuff, Arohi marched out of the cabin with her secretary in tow.
Arjuns white land cruiser entered the gates just as a black Mercedes benz zoomed out of another. Locking the screen of his phone after sending out emails, Arjun got down from the car at the drop point and headed towards the lift. Many heads turned to check out his 6'.3" form, stride slowly but surely on the smooth marble floors. Natasha smiled to see a lot of guys among the awe-struck crowd that was staring at her boss. Arjun looked totally cool and arrogant as he waited for the lift to arrive.
Arohis cabin...
Natasha realised what Arjun was talking about. She instantly took a liking to the senior Ahluwalia. He was chivalrous, wise and had an amazing sharp brain. Somehow, he reminded her of Arjun, probably when he would grow old. Although she doubted he will be so serene.
Arjun was one of the most fun and happening person that she had met, even in college he was the most popular person. She definitely hoped that he will grow up to finally settle down with one woman. The love and respect that oozed from Sudhir Ahluwalias eyes for his wife, when he spoke about her, was almost endearing. She desperately wished that Arjun would find that for himself. If he respected and adopted so much from his mentor, then why was this quality not in the list???
Arjun found himself smiling more and more as the meeting progressed further. Even though it was thoroughly professional, there was a certain warmth between them that made the entire deal seem like almost, not work. His eyes darted a couple of times towards the door expecting Miss Ahluwalia, about whom he had heard so much. Most of it was from from Natashas mouth. If he didn't know Natasha then he would've been suspected that she was in love with this Arohi!!! But there was no sign of Arohi joining them for the meeting. He felt a tad bit of disappointment creep into his heart... why, he could not understand.
Almost two hours later, Sudhir Ahluwalia got up from his seat and shook hands with Arjun, informally sealing the deal.
"I am sure we are going to be a very successful team. I've been wanting to work with you for a long time now uncle. Im glad I came to India at the right time."
"Me too beta. Infact even Arohi has been very eager to start this new project. She's also looking forward to working with you. Unfortunately there had been a minor issue at out delivery department and so she could not be in this meeting. However, she will be there when we do the final signing."
"Even I'm looking forward to meet and work with the youngest successful entrepreneur who has been featured in Forbes." Arjun replied grinning.
"Ohh... so you've read the article? They actually put her on front page!"
"No actually! I have been too busy to catch up on that but I would rather meet her in person. Anyone who has your values and ideals will be a cool person to work with."
Sudhir chuckled at the 'cool' part. Well his daughter was definitely cool, until someone make a mistake and she lost it!
"Lets go home for dinner beta. Even Amrit will be happy to see you... and that way you will get to meet Arohi and Sanchit too..."
"I... I don't know uncle. I mean I don't want to impose..."
"Nonsense! Why do you think I asked for an evening meeting? So that I can check if you both had dinner plans and then take you home." Sudhir grinned and Arjun laughed.
"That's very sweet of you Mr Ahluwalia but I really need to go home for dinner." Natasha looked at her watch and tried to excuse herself.
"Please call me uncle... like Arjun does. You're not just his secretary but also his friend, so I can give you this liberty." Sudhir smiled.
Natasha could not help but smile at this extraordinary sweet man. He was the owner of so many industries, yet his humility took her by surprise with every passing second.
"Yes uncle. Natasha ne jo ek galti ki hai usski penalty bharne ussko roz jaana padta hai. (Natasha has made a mistake, for which she has to pay the price everyday.)" Arjun explained to Sudhir with a serious face. Sudhir Ahluwalia became confused and his eyes darted from Arjun to Natasha.
"He's talking about my husband Sir... I mean Sudhir uncle!"
Arjun chuckled, Natasha shook her head and Sudhir smiled. He liked the easy camaraderie between the two of them. Being professional did not mean being serious, it did not mean NOT fun. This is something that Arohi could learn from him.
"No problem beta. My driver will drop you, and Arjun, we can go in your car."
Waving goodbye, Natasha started parting ways. But Sudhir insisted on seeing her till the car, opened the door for her and sent her on her way. Arjun was amazed again... with the kind of manners displayed by this man. His father had always told him to look up to his elders if he wanted to become something in life. And this was one man whom he idolised. Yet, everytime he felt there is a lot more to his personality that was yet to be seen. Alongwith being with humble and polite, he was chivalrous and kind. He was in the company of not just the best business family, but also good human beings.
Fortunately or unfortunately, Arjun had missed on seeing a copy of the Forbes magazine on the side table in Arohis cabin. If he had just managed to steal a glance at the front page, then he would've changed his mind about going to the Ahluwalia Aashiyana for dinner.
