Arjun stopped the car with a screech outside Romits college. Romit grabbed his bag and got down from the car. He came near the passenger window and smiled at Arjun. Arjun looked at him and pushed his black sunglasses further up his nose.
"Thank you Bro."
Arjun continued staring at him.
"Have a nice day Bro."
"Aur kuch?" Arjun asked sensing that Romit was bubbling with anxiety to ask him something.
"Woh… Bro… Aap kitne baje office se nikloge?"
"Kyu?"
Arjuns expressionless face and stern voice was making Romit more nervous. Plus his eyes were covered with sunglasses so Romit could not make out if he was just staring or glaring.
"Woh… aap mujhe on the way back pick up kar sakte ho?"
With one hand on the steering wheel and another on the adjacent seat, Arjun turned a bit towards Romit and asked "Mein tumhe driver nazar aata hu?"
"N..n..n..no bro"
"Ya fir tumhara baby sitter???"
"Aap galat samajh rahe ho Bro… woh… mein…"
"Toh apne aap ghar chaley aana! Useless… "
"Ok Bro… thank you bro… have a good day bro…"
Arjun closed the passenger side window while romit was still trying to talk to him through the diminishing gap, stretching himself upwards, till the SUV left with a squeal of tires.
Romit turned around dejected and started walking towards his college building.
"Bhabhi ke jaane ke baad to Bro aur bhi sadu hogaye hain… Pata nahi poora din itna kya kaam karte rehte hain. Raj pehle hi apni mom ki kami mehsoos karraha hai aur ab bhai bhi gayab rehte hain. Ek question poochne ke liye bhi guts jutaane padte hain. Dadi thik hi kehti hai… Sirf Arohi bhabhi bhai ko thik kar sakti hai."
Romit was muttering to himself when someone closed his eyes from behind.
"Guess!!!"
"Itni sunder awaaz sirf tumhari hi ho sakti hai shefali"
Shefali left his eyes and came in front of him. "Hi… Tum apne aapse kya badbada rahey they abhi"
Romit smiled and held her hands. "Wo kuch nahi… Bro ke baare mein…"
"Tumne poocha usse??? Kya kaha ussne???"
"Kaha yaar… wo meri baat suney toh na! Jabse wapas aaye hain tabse aur bhi terrorist ho gaye hain. Dadi bhi unhe jyada force nahi karti. Ya toh ghoorte hain ya daant dete hain. Hasna jaise bhul hi gaye hain…"
"Arohi se durr rahega to aur kya hoga… Ye dono kab samjhenge yaar!" Shefali frowned. "Udhar Arohi ka isse bhi bura haal hai. Kamsekam Arjun fake to nahi karraha. Wo genuinely gussa hai to gussa karraha hai. Lekin Arohi… Usne apne face pe ek fake si smile paste kar di hai aur poori family ko ullu bana rahi hai ki wo thik hai. Issiliye mein Arjun se milna chahti thi… Mein janna chahti hu ki aakhir aisa hua kya hai… lekin bhagwaan ne mujhe kya bahadur boyfriend diya hai… Apne bhai se ek sawaal tak nahi pooch sakta!!!"
"O hello… Tumne Bro ko dekha nai hai! Jab apne khayalon mein kho jaate haina to aise stare karte hai, mujhe to lagta hai ek din jo bhi object samne hoga wo pighal jaayega! Please god, wo object mujhe mat banana… please."
"Shut up Romit. Agar tum aise hi darte rahey to hum unki help kaise karenge… Koi na koi rasta nikalna hoga…"
"Agar Bro ko pata chal gaya na toh mera aisa haal kar denge ki mein khud ki help karne ke kaabil nahi rahunga!!! Pata hai agar koi bhabhi ka naam bhi leta haina to volcano ki tarah erupt ho jaate. Ek sirf Raj pe unka koi asar nahi hai... Usse to jaise kisine bribe kiya hai Arohi bhabhi ka naam lene ke liye. Ab to Bro bhi thak ke usse kuch nahi kehte, lekin humme se koi…."
"Kya kaha tumne??? Sirf Raj ke liye Arjun kuch nahi kehta right???" Shefali smiled as her various thoughts started entering her mind. "Chalo mere saath" Shefali grabbed Romits hand and started pulling him towards the college. "Ab kisise milne ka waqt aagaya hai…"
"Kisse???"
Shefali turned around with a smile on her lips and twinkle in her eyes. "Hamare poorane sahakari se!"
"Saha… WHAT???!!! Romit stared at Shefali in confusion as she winked at him, dragging him again towards his college.

Arohi was in the kitchen, cooking for dinner when she heard the phone ring. She wiped her hands on the towel and ran towards the living room. The ringing stopped before she could reach the phone. She started going back to the kitchen when the phone rang again. This time the ringing stopped in two rings and the lights on the handset turned green, indicating that someone had taken the call. But who? Tayaji and Chachu were at work, her mom was in the hospital, Sanchit had gone to a friends place for his assignment and lovedeep was arranging another wedding. Maybe taiji or DJ must have attended the call, she turned towards the kitchen, her eyes missing the number on the caller ID of the handset.
Dinner time was usually quiet for the Ahluwalias ever since Kartar Singh was in the hospital. After Arohi left the house for Arjun, only arguments and discussions occurred over the dinner table. When Arohi returned, silence had again prevailed. However, for the past few days Arohi had brought back the light hearted family atmosphere in the house. The first step that she had taken was to not sulk, she had tried to go back to her bright and sunny self. It was not the same but noone could stay untouched by her personality for long. Kartar Singhs stable condition also helped in relaxing everyone to some extent.
"Arohi wo mutter paneer dena please" Sanchit stretched out his hand to grab the bowl.
Arohi extended her hand with the bowl and suddenly snatched it back. Sanchit frowned at her in confusion.
"Tere college mein koi fitness competition tha na? Usska kya hua?"
"Woh to agle mahine hai"
"Haan… lekin uske tayari toh tujhe abhise karni chahiye. Haina bua?"
Arohi winked at Lovedeep egging her on to pull his legs.
"Haaan… Haan sanchit. Arohi bilkul thik keh rahi hai. Aur fir tujhe simmi ko bhi toh impress karma haina. Tu ek kaam kar… tu ye salad kha." Lovedeep passed him the salad as the entire family watched in amusement. Sanchits face fell as he noticed the bland vegetables in his hands.
Arohi tried to hide her smile. "Soch mat Sanchit… Kha le. Tuney hi to kaha tha na ki tujhe 6 pack banane hai?" Looking him over she continued "Filhaal to tu sirf ek bada pack nazar aaraha hai… Vanilla ice cream ka… Family pack!"
The entire table burst into laughter as Sanchit glared at Arohi. "Udaale mazak motu… Jab mein competition jeetunga na tab pata chalega. Uss din mein jo jo dishes kahunga tujhe sab banake mujhe khilana padega. Deal?"
"Haan… haan… deal! Tu pehle jeetke toh dikha… family pack" "Aur mein motu nahi hu!"
"Arohi kya tumhe caterer lagi… Jo jo u kahega wo sab banake khilaane ke liye? Sirf ek dish banayegi woh." DJ declared.
"Waise idea bura nahi hai…" Rajveer said thoughtfully. "Arohi is a very good cook. Tu khudka catering kyu nai shuru kar deti?"
Lovedeeps eyes brightened in excitement. "What an idea Bhaiyya! Mujhe toh roj caterers se deal karma padta hai. Aur shaadiyon mein, parties mein humein caterers ki jarurat padti rehti hai. I can use your service too."
"Nahi bua… Khana banana aur catering ka business karne mein bohat fark hai. Usske liye capital chahiye, skilled staff chahiye, supervisors etc. Ye sab mein handle nahi kar paaungi." Arohi shook her head in denial, the idea seeming too far fetched.
"Capital tujhe mein de dungi." DJ volunteered.
"Haan Arohi. Puttar tu itni padhi likhi hai. Ghar pe baithke apna education waste kyu karna. Bauji bhi yahi chahte ki tu kuch karey, iss ghar se bahar nikal kar apni pairon pe khadi ho jaaye." A hush fell over the table as Arvind mentioned his fathers name.
"Thik hain Tayaji. Mein iss baare mein sochungi." Arohi quietly agreed. She felt an unusual happiness to see her entire familys support for her. She had missed them so much… all of them. She had not realised that she missed her entire family, as one single entity. Not any single person but each and everyone contributing to this madness called Ahluwalias. She had not realised until someone had made her realise.
FLASHBACK
"Jab mein ghar se dur hoti hu to sabse jyaada kya miss karti hu?"
Arjun smiled. "Mein jaanta hu ki puri family iss sawal ka jawab sunne ke liye bechain hai. Lekin mein ye bhi jaanta hu ki, iss sawal ka jawab koi ek naam nahi hosakta. Arohi apni poori family ko miss karti hai. Lekin sabse jyaada, wo ek ehsaas… ek feeling ko miss karti hai. Apni family ke beech hone ki feeling ko miss karti hai. Aur mein Arohi ko ye batana chahta hu ki, mere saath, usse kabhi ye feeling nahi hogi ki who apnon ke saath nahi hai."
The entire family clapped on this answer.
Arohi smiled. "Cheeku ne ekdam sahi kaha."
FLASHBACK ENDS
How well he had known her. On the spot, he had molded up her every single feeling, in words, which she could never explain. And he had done that, in a way that noone could ever do it… not even arohi herself. In her heart she had known, more like wished that these would be Arjuns words and not Cheekus.
And they were.
Like the rest of the family she had been shocked too, not to find out the truth, but at her destiny, wondering how a small wish, a tiny hope borne in a small corner of her heart had come true so soon. Then why was it that, today, when she is screaming out only one single wish, in every space of her heart, it looks far from getting fulfilled??!!!

"Matlab tu bawarchi banegi???"
"Shut up Shefali. Bawarchi nahi caterer, theres a difference!" Arohi shouted at her best friend on the phone.
"Ek hi baat hai yaar… Sirf tu english mein khana banayegi."
"Tuney mujhe taunt karne ke liye phone kiya hai???"
"Nahi. Maine ye poochne ke liye phone kiya hai ki kal kya karrahi hai? Bohat din hogaye shopping kiye. Aur tere bina shopping mein mazaa nahi aata. Toh kal shopping chale?"
"Mujhe kuch shop nahi karna hai. Mein tujhe company dene chal sakti hu"
"Ok great" Shefali exclaimed. "Toh kal 4 baje mall mein milte hain, OK? Bye"
Arohi stared at her phone on the hasty bye from Shefali. 'Saari duniya ke namoone sirf mere hi life mein hain'. Keeping the phone aside, she slipped under covers to sleep as another day came to an end.
Shefali sent a quick sms to Romit, patted herself on the back and smiled as she slipped inside her duvet thinking 'yeh tomorrow kab aayega…'
