Hi guys! I know I am super late in updating! Sorry for that! I really hope this update makes up for the delayed time. Please do comment and let me know what you thought about this one. Criticisms are welcomed!
Arohi and Arjun were walking through their park, hands entwined and lips smiling. They felt like the entire world was singing and dancing for them. Everything seemed romantic and beautiful. Everything seemed perfect and wonderful. They were in love and enjoying each moment of it. It was the evening of their confession. In afternoon, Arohi found Arjun missing. She didn't know where he went without informing her. She was worried, angry and sad. All at once. Her anger was there but more than that there was concern. But when it was time for the afternoon classes to begin Arjun was back and he had a happy smile like he had got what he wanted to get. And in evening, Arjun took Arohi with him to their park. The park was their haven. The most beautiful place for them to hang out. The place where their most beautiful moments were spent. After walking for some time they sat down on the bench and Arohi at once asked Arjun where he was during lunch break.
"Arjun where were you at the lunch break?" Arohi said in a slightly angry tone.
Arjun smiled at her cuteness and took out a rectangular box from his pocket and slowly opened it.
Arohi curiously looked at him and asked with her eyes 'what's it?'
Arjun just winked at her and took out a golden bangle bracelet and put it on Arohi's right hand. Looking at the bracelet laden hand of hers he smiled satisfactorily. It was looking good on her hand. Then he looked at Arohi who was shocked and then shaking her head she took off the bracelet and handed it over to him. Arjun perplexed looked at her and wondered at her odd behaviour. Sensing his question Arohi slowly replied,
"Arjun I can't accept such expensive gifts from you! Sorry I can't have it!"
Arjun was little agitated at this answer. He asked her, "Why? You don't like me giving you gifts?"
"No, Arjun it's not like that! I don't want people to say that I love you because you are rich!" Arohi said in an apologetic tone.
"What?? When did you start caring about what other people say? Let them say what they want to! I know you love me because you simply love me!" Arjun tried to make her understand.
"Arjun, I would have never mind it if it wasn't you! When it comes to you I don't want anyone to say anything! Because along with me they would also accuse you! I don't want that! I know my logic doesn't make much sense. Just know that I don't want your name in mud!" Arohi tried to make clear her position.
"Arohi, why do you love me? If you love me then you won't mind what other people say!" Arjun wanted her to take his gift.
"Arjun, I love you... and I don't know the reason. There is simply no reason. If I was able to give an explanation as to why I love you then it could never be called love. It would just be 'like'. And I don't like you I love you... with all my being! And about receiving your gift? I will take your gift when it is something you bought with your own money not your dad's! I want to wear your gift which is the result of your sweat and toil!" Arohi said at last.
Arjun was silent for some time. Then he said to her in a small voice,
"What if I say I bought the gift with the money I saved by working in a cafe during school vacation? What if I say every single penny that was used to buy this gift was my blood and sweat?"
Arohi looked into his eyes and she knew he was saying the truth. And she never doubted him. She looked into his eyes to see his love for her. He had saved that money for kick starting his career as a writer and he used it to buy her a gift. Her eyes slowly started blurring and silent tears started falling down. Arjun was alarmed by her tears. He was worried. He immediately cupped her face and wiped her tears and asked worriedly,
"What happened jaan? I am sorry if I hurt you! I am so sorry jaan! Please don't cry! Please!"
Arohi couldn't believe her luck. Her most precious gift was sitting in front of her. Her Arjun. She smiled at him and cupped his face. Arjun didn't understand what she was doing. With her tear filled eyes and wet lips she kissed him. First on his forehead, then on his eyes, his nose, his cheeks and finally a small peck on his lips. Arjun was dumbstruck. He looked at her with awe. She again smiled and repeated the kisses again. When it again came to his lips, she kissed him once, twice and on thrice attempt he captured her lips in a more intense kiss. She obliged obediently. When they finally parted she showed him the bracelet and asked him to put it on her hands himself. Arjun smiling put it on her hands and kissed her nose first and then her nose ring. Arohi rested her head on his chest and took his hand in hers. She started talking in a small but loving tone,
"Arjun, I know you took the money you saved for your career... but promise me you will follow your dream what may happen. You won't move away from your path. Because now your dream is my dream also. I want to see you as a successful writer. It is my dream to see you basking in the glory of your success which will be the result of your hard work alone! Even if a time comes in your life when you feel like you don't want to do anything with this life or your dream, you will not back out. You will fulfil your dream for me! Promise me you will! Promise me you will make me proud as I know you will!"
Arjun was surprised by Arohi's sudden demand. He didn't know what brought this out. He was really worried now. He held her more close and asked,
"What happened Aro? Why are you talking like this? There won't come a time when I would want nothing with this life. For that to happen you will have to be away from me which I won't let happen! I won't let you go! So why such promise?"
Arohi said at once, "I know Arjun! But just promise me, please! For me!"
Arjun helplessly looked at her and then nodded his head and replied, "I will fulfil my dream! I will make you proud!"
Arohi smiled but she was anxious. She didn't know why. Ever since they had confessed a weird feeling had taken over her. She was getting really afraid of losing Arjun. She had this nagging feeling that something was not right. She slightly moved her head and looked up at Arjun who was looking down at her. He raised his brows asking 'what happened?' She slowly straightened herself and looked into his eyes and asked again,
"Arjun, how much do you love me?"
Arjun was kind of expecting this question. He had seen her insecurity, her fear of losing him. He could read her eyes. Even he was afraid of losing her. He didn't have to think much to answer her. He knew the answer as it was his biggest truth. He said smiling,
"I love you as much as that I can spend the rest of my life as a blind, deaf and dumb person if... if it is you that I last see with my eyes, your voice that I last hear and your name that I last utter. I love you only this much!"
Arohi was teary by now. She thought he would say something that everyone else would say but he was unique. No one could be like him. She hugged him in an impulse and her grip only tightened. He too hugged her back and assured her everything was alright. In a choked voice, Arohi asked Arjun,
"Arjun, never let me go! I don't trust myself! I am someone who runs away when something good comes my way! Please don't let me go even if I behave rudely with you, hurt you very badly or push you away! I love you so much!"
Arjun was taken aback by this. Arjun was touched by her confession that she didn't trust herself. Making her sit straight, he cupped her tear laden face and told her,
"Arohi, I will never let you go even if you push me away or hurt me! I can't live without you! Even if you want to go away from me I won't let you! I will find you and make you come back to me! Because I know just as I am incomplete without you, you are also incomplete without me no matter what you say! I will never let you go!"
Then he kissed her on her forehead, her eyes, nose, cheeks and lips just like she did to him. Arohi's face brightened up hearing him. She again rested her head on his chest and calmed herself down. Arjun was remembering his conversation. He repeated in his mind that he wouldn't let her go...
Arjun opened his eyes hearing the whistle of the train. They were still in the train. It would take some more time to reach their station. Arjun looked at Sudhir and Amrit who had Arohi sitting between them opposite to Arjun's seat. Arjun felt happy that he had forced them to come to the vacation against their wishes. Arjun smiled at the way they were talking with her. None of them were giving her a chance to speak. They were showering eight years' love on her. Raj stirred in his arms and he looked down at him. After Raj's emotional meltdown Arjun had taken him on his arms and let him fall asleep on his lap. Arjun slowly ruffled the boy's hairs and kissed him on his forehead. The kid had already cast his spell on Arjun. His attention again shifted to Arohi who was now smiling at her parents' antics. Just then Addy came and sat beside Arjun. They both smiled at each other. After Arohi left their bond had strengthened. Addy and Arjun were like brothers now. Addy understood Arjun like the back of his palm. They were best friends. It was weird how two persons who hated each other were now best friends. It was fate! Fate was an amazing planner who would twist and turn and brought out unexpected results making the enemies friends and friends enemies! Fate was really beyond one's expectations!
Addy spoke to Arjun in a whisper, "Dude, make sure this time she doesn't slip away! You know her naa!"
Arjun smiled at Addy's concern and replied, "Don't worry bro! I won't let her go! I had found her after such a long time! I am not letting her go at any cost!"
Addy patted his back and went to sit with Gauri, his fiance.
Arohi was watching Addy and Arjun. Shefali had told her that they were like brothers now. And seeing them whispering to each other and smiling, a small smile spread across her face. She was happy for them. She thought about the possibility of going back to Arjun and immediately discarded that thought. After the first year of separation it was her guilt that had stopped her from going back, now it was something else. Surely, her ego was one big thing back then but now it was her other responsibilities. She couldn't walk out of her new life. She had responsibilities and duties on which she couldn't turn a blind eye. And there was Raj too. Raj was brought up as her family. If the organiser of 'Saans' took care of the needs of other kids Arohi took care of Raj's. She couldn't leave him like that. It was really too late...
Arjun watched the change of expressions on Arohi's face. He knew she was confused. He knew she was worried about Raj. He also knew that she wouldn't come back to him thinking it was too late and knew that she wouldn't be able to leave Raj behind. He never wanted her to leave Raj behind. He wanted to take Raj along with her. She could come visit the other kids whenever she wanted. He was even ready to shift his city for her. He just wanted her back in his life. He just wanted her back. He hadn't forgotten his promise to her. He had fulfilled one by becoming a successful writer. Now it was time for the second one to be fulfilled. He wouldn't let her go no matter what she said or did. She could push him further away but he would only come close. She could hurt him as much as she wanted but he would only smile and embrace her. She could show a cold shoulder to him but he would only engulf her in his warmness. Whatever she did it never mattered. He loved her. He knew it. She knew it. She loved him. She knew it. He knew it. So there was nothing else to be thought about. Arohi could run as long as she could but she would always find him just behind her. She could avoid him as much as she wanted but still again she would be in his presence. He would be her sun, her shade, her shadow and her pillar. He would be there. And it doesn't matter where she went. Because he would be there with her... inseparable as ever...
