CHAPTER 1
It was the first day of college. Day of new dreams, new hopes in hundreds of young eyes, who were on the threshold of a new life. They had been waiting for this day for years when at last they will step out of school and into the exciting world of college, where they will make new friends, new relationships, find the path which will take them forward in life, help them achieve their dreams, may be find that special someone who will be with them forever. They were excited as well as a little apprehensive – excited coz they can now dress as they please, do what they like, are not accountable for each movement, have the freedom to go where they want and when they want and scared as they didn't know what is waiting for them outside, how will they cope with the freedom available to them now, will they be able to make new friends easily, will they be ragged by their seniors. It is such a strange time for them – they are no more children but they are not adults also. They have lived in such a protective environment all their lives and they now will be accountable for their actions, no mom and dad to hold their hand. BUNKING – a whole new word was added to their dictionary of dos and don'ts. They want to experience the thrill of saying that they bunked college to go for a movie, for dinner, to be with their boyfriend/girlfriend, etc. Life would never be the same again for all of them.
(Ragging was banned, but everybody knew that a mild form did take place in every college, as a healthy interaction between the seniors and juniors just to break the ice, though sometime it did get out of hand)
SCENE AT SINGHANIA HOUSEHOLD
Dadi-romit, kithe he puttar. Aaj tere college ke aakhri saal ka pehla din hai. College ke liye late na hona. Maine tere liye kheer banayi hai, muh meetha kar ke jana.
Romit- Haan dadi. Main tayaar hoon. Bus apne dost ke phone ka wait kar raha ho. Aur dadi aap kabhi nahi bhulte kheer banana. Thank you dadi. I love u. Final year of college. Kitna strange lagta hain, Abhi to college join kiya tha aura b khatam hone jar aha hai
Dadi- Ja mujhe maska mat mar. Mein janti hoon tu mujhe pyar karta hain, per yeh I love You kisi ladki ko bole to kuch maza aaye. Ek arjun hai, who bhi kisi ladki ko pasand nahi karta hai. Mujhe lagta hai ki mere jeete ji mein apne par pote-par poti ka muh nahi dekh paunge. Kuch paise to nahi chayihe, apne dosto ko treat karne ke liye.
Romit- Nahi dadi. Bhai ne de diye. Kya pata dadi is saal koi aisi ladki mil jaye jise dekh kar mere dill ki ghante bhi bajne lage. Bhai ki tarah nahi, jinhe har time koi nai ladki se pyar ho jata hai
Dadi- arjun ko pyar hota hai ya kuch aur hota hai – yeh main sab jaanti hoon
R – Dadi you aree too cool. You know everything.
Just then Rudra and Arjun enter the dining room one look at arjun and you couldn't take your eyes off him. Bhagwan ne use badi fursat se banaya tha. He was 6'2" tall, brown hair, warm brown eyes you could drown in, rock solid body with8 packs, a cleft in his chin, movie star looks,
Rudra- Romit, this is your final year of college. You have to decide what you want to do next. Do you also want to go to US to do your MBA like Arjun or you want to join the business right away. You should make up your mind as admission is a big process and then you need to get grades also to secure admission in a good college.
R- Dad I want to go to US for MBA like bro, and experience the life there . don't worry I'll not let my grades fall.
Rudra- Another thing, I should not get any complaint from the principal like last year. It was with great difficulty that I managed to convince him to give you a second chance. If there is a single complaint, then you will not get the motorcycle on your birthday.
Romit- Dad, It was not my fault. It was just harmless ragging. I just challenged that guy to a basketball game with me. I didn't know that he was asthamatic and would get an asthama attack while playing. But then I had rushed him to the hospital and got him treated also. The principal is like an old woman, he doesn't want us to have any fun. But, when bhai is there I don't need to worry, he is there to care of everything right bhai. And Bhai, if dad doesn't agree then you will get me my mobike, right na.
Arjun-No little bro. if dad doesn't agree, then you don't get anything from me either. So take care and don't get into any serious situation. Just keep it mild and casual. You just want to break the ice with the freshers, not scare them for life. why don't you find some girls and get them to show you a dance or sing or something like that. Nice and simple – all girls love to dance and show off.
Romit - but bhai what a bore. Romit Singhania has an image to maintain, the coolest dude on the campus and asking a girl to dance is the stupidest thing ever. All the guys will make fun of me instead of them.
Arjun - You kids. Well do what you think is right, but remember what dad said, this time even I'll not be able to help you
Romit - Bhai, can I ask you for something. Please please
Arjun - Anything for my little baby brother
Romit-Don't call me a baby Bhai. And I am not little anymore. I am as tall as you are. Also, this is my last year of college.
Arjun-yah I know, shorty I know, but you will always remain my little baby. What do you want this time.
Romit-Can I like, uh, take your new car to college, Bhai just for today, please, it's the first day and first impressions are the last. This will really boost my image as the coolest guy in college and I ll have no shortage of girlfriends throughout the year. Please bhai. I will take good care of it.
Arjun- Romit, you know I cannot refuse you when you ask so nicely. But you dare not even get a scratch on it.
YIPPEE. HERE I GO. THANKS BRO. LOVE YOU. AND DAD DON'T WORRY. NO COMPLAINTS THIS YEAR. MEIN SUDHAR GAYA HOON.
Takes the car keys and runs off, before Arjun changes his mind.
Rudra-Isi baat ka to dar hai, yeh sudhar gaya hai. Yeh kabhi nahi badlega. I hope this year, something happens which will make him more responsible.
Arjun- dad leave him na. Abhi chota hai. Puri zindagi padi hai, responsible hone ke liye. Aur main hu na, uska dhyan rakhne ke liye. Aren't I responsible enough for you.
They all look at each other and smile at the exuberance of youth. They know though he is spoilt, he is a good kid and always listens to his elders, specially Arjun.
Precap ' The white Honda city stopped in front of the college gate and two girls got out. They looked wide eyed at the gate.Their excitement was palpable. They were a study in contrast.
