argh. now perfect prem has me stuttering and acting shifty-eyed in front of my mom. who couldn't really have cared less, 'cause she was busy doing what she always does when her siblings are around -- competing on who can talk the most! gah, i hate prem. π
* big thing: prem running away from his thoughts. that was one brilliantly ambiguous segment!!!
totally loved him - prem-who-worships-his-father! - actually sounding like he thought his father (gasp!) misunderstood him! (since my mom couldn't see my face, i thought it was okay to let my jaw drop to the floor at that.) but of course, being mein-bhagwan-nehi-hoon-hahahaha-just-kidding! prem, he immediately wants to go make his father feel better. go apologise to his father for making him feel bad no matter that his father is wrong, and he is right. sigh. prem... give up, no?
the ambiguous part came with heer: she appears, reaches up to comfort him - and he backs away. turns away. and it takes him a heartbeat to remember her saying she can't live without him. and then remembering how his father has done nothing but push him away. it was as if, just for that heartbeat, he did see heer as the cause of his father's distress and didn't want to be comforted by her? what does it mean? i want to know. π³
* prem thing: is there something new and delicious about prem in a suit where the shirt is starting to hang out? there is something new and delicious in watching prem run, and watch that shirt go alternatively taut and loose against his chest. what has hc been upto? has he just turned even more delicious lately???? argh!! someone slap me!
(or take me out of this gang of rabid prem-lovers! although it's not affecting just the gang. when that pearl-drop of a tear trembled and fell off the perfect prem eyelid, there was a sudden lull in the chatter from the sofa. "that boy is very nice-looking." i needn't have frozen - it was one of my aunts, not mom. thankfully, the derisive snort that exploded from the gang on the floor distracted the sofa crowd - "what do you mean very nice-looking, ma? he's gorgeous, drop-dead gorgeous! aaaiieieieiaaahh... yum." i found out it's disgusting getting drooled on by another human being! π)
* little thing: btw, that pearl-drop of a tear seem to be something that the camera loves making prem and heer do. remember after prem's confession, when heer remembers that he is engaged to ashlesha and turns away, there was a shot of a similar tear-drop that trembled off her lid and tumbled down her cheek. hmm..... prem has to do as much sorrow as heer until heer saves him, "make him laugh again"? ooh, i can hardly wait to know how heer is going to "rescue" her prem.... π
* heer thing: she is not leaving prem to be alone in his misery! this must be so new for prem! all his life, he's been the strong silent type, who no-one understood, no one came close to helping to bear the burden of all responsibility. only his mother knew how much he was bearing. and he never let her share.
* prem thing: fone of the brilliant things in this episode, i thought, was how slowly - as events unfolded - prem opened himself to heer.
irst, even though not letting her touch him, just letting her be with him. then telling her what he felt, what made him miserable. and slowly, letting her tag along, sharing his burden -- carrying his coat! π -- and then finally, letting her see his tears, letting her wipe them away, letting her hold him, letting her comfort him.
* heer thing: heer has never really had the words for prem. her conversations with prem have been mostly through her eyes, her hands being held in his. this was no different - she can only helplessly ask him to control himself. which might even have sounded cold, if it had not been for the genuine tears and the fact that she simply refuses to leave him alone. i am so fiercely glad that she is there for him. teaching him what her love means. love heer. π
* non-prem-heer thing: um, was it just me and my gang, or was the entire next segment of the show deliberately ridiculously hilarious??? i mean sylvie must have ripped this segment apart!! i know we did!!
laluchacha's accident where he's lying in the car with streams of blood down his face and his eyes wide open like he's ... um... passed on to another place? i felt for the crowd of people peering at him from the outside.. they looked like they were going to give him a poke to see if he was dead.π€£(don't really know if it's a funny thing. but when i was watching it with the gang, there was much rolling on the floor.)
and the flashy dude in the flashy car with the totally girly voice!!!!! π€£π€£
i mean, i'm sure he can't help it. but the moment he started speaking, all - i mean, all of us, even the dogs! - were sniggering our faces off. he was saying indignant things that made perfect sense when munnabhai said it about emergency wards for injured people. but when that voice said it!!! hmmphhhaammmffff! hysterical!
and then, mr. rampal!!! π€£ for a moment, i thought he was listening to his ipod in the other ear when he started at being asked to cut the ribbon - "hmm? oh! snip, snip. fake smile." what is with this dude? why isn't he just hiding out in his palatial whatever and doing weird things in private, instead of asking randomly for toothpicks in public hospitals???!! π€£π€£π€£
and of course, what really killed it was the nurse's reply: "yes, sure, why not?" π€£π€£ "why not???" what the heck does that mean???? π€£π€£π€£ "why not" what? "why not take my pen instead?" "why not take me with the toothpick?" π€£
and we were just becoming rapidly sober when laluchacha came back. but he looked like he was getting ready for a round of kung-fu.π€£
and then the flashy dude comes back with a girly "uncle"!!! and we were back to π€£π€£π€£ all over the floor. if it was just us, it'd been okay. but the dogs thought they were missing out on the action and joined in. then the boys joined in. and when the merriment got too wild, so did the adults!
(ever been in a group tickling match with 23 people and animals of different ages??? prem evidently never has done one such in his life -- he would know how to deal with adults better, if he had!! π)
it was a good hour and a half after, with pop-corn and ice-cream supplies, that we finally got back to the show! π
* heer thing: lovely piece of advice from heer to prem - "time will heal. just control yourself till then. everything will be fine." love heer.
* prem thing: what was sweetest about their little walk away from the hospital was prem remembering the best thing he said in his own proposal "it's our life - we will make it happen." omg. is he actually resigning himself to giving up temporarily on his father and just building a life of his own with his heer???? omg. can we now begin to dream, really dream? please, pretty puhleeeeease??? π
i mean, laluchacha will have the new boy - who already sounds (even in a girly voice! π€£) like he can better handle laluchacha - occupy himself. and will get off hounding prem?
that means prem can have the peace of mind to recover from the constant bruising his heart has been getting from his father. and heer will apply large doses of her intense love which will be balm to his poor heart. and meher will cluck around him like a real sister, getting in his face, shouting at him when he's stoopid. π and maybe preet will come around more often 'cause his father will be even more intolerant of him as well, and he will want to escape the rivalry to run the business between girly-voice and melissa's harman. π
* dream thing π: maybe, tomorrow night, when heer has to go to do "extra work" in that el creep's catering service, prem will go with her. and when she has to wash dishes, he'll roll up his shirt sleeves - sigh! - and help wash them with her silently. dunno why the management will care - as long as they don't have to pay him.. and they'll both start managing the entire kitchen better. and when the real boss - 'cause el creepo just can't be the boss! - comes to check why his catering business is suddenly making so much more money, he'll discover prem and heer. and he'll be old and so grateful that he'll make them partners. and they'll grow even faster. and will soon become the best service in all of ludhiana.
nice dream, no? π except i haven't included
* little reminders:
- dirtchachi who will want to mess up prem's life. and heer's life. and meher's life.
- mr. rampal who does have an ancient enemity with the old mr. juneja??? and who will do something which will make the young mr. juneja run to the old mr. juneja's rescue?
- so did anyone think that mr. girly-voice (mmmmpppffff!!) could be a plant by mr. rampal to sneak his way into the juneja hotel, juneja mansion?
- or is he the long lost brother of heer-meher?
thankfully, the possibilities of links with the old stories are endless!! just not very interesting! π
* (back to) dream thing: certainly no-where as interesting as the possibility of watching heer and prem come home from work together, wash up, eat. and where heer will have to cradle prem's head in her lap to gentle him into sleep. 'cause as gayatri-mom said, when prem eats late at night, he doesn't get to sleep very well. and he won't tell anyone about it, and will rather suffer in silence. but now he will not do it alone, 'cause he has got a very persistent little lover called heer. who will chase him and chase him and never let him be, until he is happy. π
sigh. can it this actually be this way for the next two weeks? i want to know. π
highlight of the episode: oh what else???? that last shot of prem-heer, holding hands walking down the street, wrapped in together-ness of the forever variety. π
i thought that the editing was shoddy. i thought that sweet way in which prem first locked little fingers with heer, and then took her hand, was probably how the hand-holding started. and he was back to carrying his own coat, thank you very much! π but what a way to end a rather high up, high down week, donchya think?
(makes me miserable to think that the next episode will be back in the loneliness of my own sofa at home. oh, i do hope everyone in the world is dreaming same things for prem-heer, including the folk at balaji telefilms! that would make next week ... nicer. π)
