...Jab Koi Mushkil Pad Jaaye,
Tum Dena Saath Mera...Oh Humnava...
I couldn't help but think of the above lines as I watched Premeer today. The way they stand by each other no matter what...stand up for each other no matter what...support each other, no matter what.
My heart is soaring after today's episode...so, here we go...after 2 viewings and yet another to come, I couldn't stop myself for wanting to pour my heart out today.
Bare with me...its long (as usual)...
Lets start with the recap...I was upset they didn't find it important to remind us that Heer actually PROPOSED to Prem yesterday...but, I LOVE and LOVED how they never forget to remind us that Gayatri always says something or another to make Lallu the Ullu realize the error of his ways. I can't help but cheer her on every time. Besides, if your spouse can't tell you the error of your ways and show you right from wrong, who can?
Coming to today, Now, not only is Prem standing "aloof" at the party while everyone around him is dancing, Heer has joined him too! God, they really are made for each other, aren't they?
LOVED Preet (of course) for dragging them both to the dance floor and placing Heer's hand in Prems...bhai ho toh aisa! I could kiss him! I just love his Lakshman-esq support that never faulters. 🤗
So, there they are...Premeer...standing face to face, hand in hand...starring at one another...was it just me or did the hurt in Heer's eyes shake you guys to the core as well? There was so much pain in her eyes...and undoubtedly, along with the pain...there was anger. I literally had shivers going down my spine as I saw that look on her face...perhaps because we've never seen those emotions to that extent, come from Heer...I like to think they were so strong because they were directed towards Prem...the last person we and Heer herself thought that they would ever be directed towards. And for a moment, I was afraid that I was wrong yesterday...that Heer didn't understand Prem at all...but then it dawned on me how silly that was. She DID understand him...this anger and hatred didn't come from his rejection, but from his refusal to let her stand by him and offer him support. She was livid that he wouldn't let her be his strength, as he had been hers. She was livid at the thought that he wanted to do it all himself...suffer all the pain himself. Wow..I'm getting goosebumps just thinking about the depth of Premeer's love for one another...
And naturally, her pain brought tears to his eyes.
And then, the unthinkable happened...she slowly, but defiantly, withdrew her hand from him...I loved the way that scene was shot...the focus on the hands, and she slowly, withdrew her hand...as if, she didn't want to...as if it was one of the most painful things she had to do...but he had forced her to...his words, his actions forced her to distance herself from him. And as she turned from him, he stood there, starring at his now empty hand...that scene was heartbreaking. The last thing Prem had to hold on too had now left him empty handed as well...just like everything else.
She turned and walked away heartbroken...not just by his "rejection" but by her actions as well...because she knew then that she hurt him immensely by turning away from him. She stands by the wall, clinging to it for much needed support...and through the whole thing, his eyes don't leave her for a moment.
As he slowly walks towards her, her back to him, she attempts to run away...
But, thanks to Prem's kismat, and unfortunately for Heer, that Kambakhat Dupatta of her's always gets caught and stops her from getting too far away from him. (As far as I'm concerned, Prem should thank his stars for this! 😆)
I've said it before, and I'll say it again...that Dupatta always finds its way to him...knowing where it belongs...where she belongs....
She takes a deep breath, cursing her luck, and turns to find, shockingly, Prem standing behind her, with a very matter of fact look...as if to say - accept it, no matter how much you try, you can't run from me. She looks away as if denying the truth of his thoughts...and the look in his eyes makes it even harder for her to turn away from him a second time. Just as she's sets herself free and musters up every ounce of energy she can to turn away from him, Kulraaj steps in, and again, places her hand in his.
Am I alone in being confused at why no one at the party seemed to realize how very sad, depressed, and in pain these two are? Did no one realize that had they really just gotten engaged, they wouldn't be running from one another like this? Anyway, I guess anything to make the story "flow" - even if it doesn't completely make sense, right?
By this point, I'm ready for these two to just get the heck away from one another, collect their thoughts, and then reconvene later (when the uninvited guests are gone) to discuss the situation like adults. I actually found that I was upset that Kulraj stepped in and felt she had to force them together.
Again Heer's hand is in Prems...and again, she withdraws...quicker this time, almost as if she couldn't stand to be in his presence then. She literally takes off almost about to run away from him as he catches her hand from behind. I had to laugh a little here...was that anger on Prem's face? And if so, why?
If I'm not mistaken, wasn't he just as eager to get away from her not too long ago? I swear, these two must think they're on some kind of picnic or something...first he runs from her and now she's running from him...
Jokes aside - did Prem actually say "Mujhe kuch kehna hai tumse"? Did his mouth actually move and form the words? Am I the only one that didn't see this? I had to watch it again just to see if I'd missed something. Or did Heer just hear him say that telepathically before she turned on him in anger?
"Mujhe kuch kehna hai tumse"...a matter of fact statement, with a bit of a plea thrown in. Prem couldn't just let her run from him without explaining himself...without answering her unasked questions first.
"Lekin mujhe Tumse Koi Baat Nahi Karni Hai"...she was FURIOUS! I loved it! Brilliant acting by Aditi, and I loved how Heer could express her Anger so openly. 😳 She just couldn't understand what was left to say...why was he stopping her from running from him when he himself "rejected" her just moments before? What could they possibly have to say to each other now?
I couldn't get over how very angry she was...not because he didn't want to marry her...not because she thought he didn't love her, but because she thought that he didn't think she was worthy of sharing his pain...he thought she wasn't worthy of sharing his trials and tribulations. Thats what hurt her most...
His eyes when she quit his hand were soul piercing...he was silently begging her to forgive him for causing her so much hurt...and at the same time, conveying his undying, unconditional love for her...
I would have loved to actually hear them go at it here...I would have loved to hear what Prem had to say...though, I know it was evident in the way he looked at her...undoubtedly, he would have started with "tum mujhe galat samajh rahi ho"...oh Prem...how very wrong you are...its you, who's misunderstanding her if you're thinking she isn't strong enough to walk barefoot through this fire with you...or perhaps you are aware, but refuse to let such pain come within a yard of her....but don't you see, its this very decision of yours thats hurting her more than any fire ever could...
And this is where Premeer's aloofness to the world ends. If you notice, through all their holding hands and running and chasing today, they were completely unaware of anything else going on around them. They were in a world all their own, where it was just him..just her...just them...their love...and their pain.
Unfortunately for them, it all ended with Preet's announcement, that got cut short by disaster...The Ullu Himself.
You'll forgive me if I don't go into the details of Ullu's retarded, ignorant, self-centered speech...I found I wasn't even listening to him...I was simply watching Heer...and more so, Prem react to his tirade.
Prem...my dear Prem...looked as if he was about to weep like a baby...wasn't Heer's pain already the icing and her proposal the cherry on top for him today? Could the Ullu ka pattha have picked a better time to show up? He literally kicked his son while he was down today...and my blood was boiling from the minute he said "go". 😡
Loved the anger and hatred written all over Preet's face through the whole idiotic episode...
Prem...bechara...looked as if he was dying more and more with each word the Ullu said...he looked exhausted...as if he would meet his death if he were to be forced to take one more blow today...😭
Heer stood there, astounded by this man and his insults...how can a father speak that way about his son...no matter what you son has done, he's still your son. Not only was this man insulting Prem, not only was he insulting him infront of his siblings...but, as usual, infront of all of society! DISGUSTING! 🤢
The beauty of Premeer is that they can't stand anyone insulting one another. Prem was ready to kill the ignorant boss as he insulted Heer earlier (just loved the lethal look in his eyes as the boss was leaving in yesterday's episode), and now, Heer was on her knees begging this undeserving man to if nothing more, atleast be civil to his son. "I know you hate me and thats fine, but atleast be civil to your son...atleast treat him with some kind of respect"...God this girl's got guts today! 👏 Ah, the effect that true love has one people...😳
Prem had so much love in his eyes for her at that moment. Just moments before, this woman was livid at him...and now, there she was, fighting for his pride, honor, respect, and life...Just like that, this woman, whom he loved more than his own life...had more courage that he did...the courage to plead for his samman...so, was he wrong in thinking she wasn't strong enough to walk with him through his misery?
Heer was so much like Prem in her begging...not once did she disrespect the man who had just disrespected her love...she faced him, showed him the world of respect, and timidly, yet confidently asked him to rethink his decision. I can't help but respect her more and more every day.
Over the next few moments, the Ullu turned his cheap words on her. Lashed out at her asking for the validity of her relationship with his "son"...threatening to give it a name that only he and his cheap thoughts could conjure up. 🤢
And with his every word, Prem's anger increased. He would have undoubtedly KILLED the man if he wasn't his father. The anger that was in his voice as he uttered "Bauji" was so powerful...I was actually afraid for the Buddha...I thought for sure that Prem would murder him today....
But, Prem being the "main-bhagwan-nahi-hoon" beta that he is quickly remembered to respect the man that was, after all, his father. I think now, I see Estee's love/hate relationship with Prem...It IS easy, Estee, to HATE him for trying to be so Godly. But, then again, isn't this one of the same reasons that we love him so so much?
The star of the show today was undoubtedly Gayatri mom! I wanted to run and give her a BIG hug for being there for her son today...but more so, for (indirectly) telling that Ullu of a husband she has, that he is an IDIOT and So Very Wrong.
When Prem saw her, it was as if he finally could sigh in relief...was it just me or did anyone else hear him say "maa" when he saw her at the door...it was as if this child was so very happy to see his mother come to his rescue...as if God had sent her then, just to save him from the pain and misery...
And all the sudden, when she started talking, it truly looked as if his world was crashing down around him. The same mother that had always supported him was at last, leaving him alone...She too was accusing his relationship with Heer...she too, was just like his father.
The look on Heer's face as she was saying all this was priceless. She was dumbfounded by disbelief that this was the same woman that a few hours ago was blessing her and telling her to always take care of her son.
The look on Prem's face was too much to take...especially when she said she was going to give him one "kasam" that he had to adhere to...he looked as though he couldn't beleive it...his mother was going to ask him once and for all to leave Heer forever...and just when he thought he could take no more, she did something he never expected...told him...no, ordered him, to accept Heer's hand in marriage...because She was the one that taught her son how to laugh...and She was the one that stood by him when his own mother was so unfortunate not to be able to. Just loved how she pointed to Ullu when she said "Jab saari duniya ne tera saath chod diya tha"...because after all, for Prem, wasn't his "Saari duniya" his father?
And of course, the song...the song that is so perfect for the relationship this mother and son share...the song that makes me weep for them..weep with them..."youn toh main, batlata nahin...par andhere se darta hoon main ma...youn toh main, dikhlaata nahin...teri parvah karta hoon main maa.."
Yes, by this time, the tears were streaming down my face, and I was sobbing like a baby...
Did anyone notice that as soon as Gayatri took the jaal in her hands, Preet looked at her with a very knowing look...as if he understood her actions so very well...knew exactly what she was about to say...and loved her so much for it. Kudos to Preet...did I mention I love him?
Gayatri ordered Prem to marry Heer...and Self-centered Ullu couldn't take it. He detested the fact that she would stand against his wishes...and, of course, verbalized his discontent. I love how fearless Gayatri was in shutting him up...LOVED the way she raised her hand, stopping him from speaking...loved how fearless she was in saying "Ek maa apne bete ke najayiz rishte ko naam de rahi hai"....those words were so powerful...had so much underlying meaning...and just enough umph to shut Ullu's mouth! Gayatri was incredible today...hats off to her...and to the strength of a mother's heart, when it comes to her children. 👏
If I was already sobbing by the end of it all, the preview for tomorrow made me cry even harder...tears of utter joy...as my love for Prem reached higher, unthinkable heights...there he was, on his knees, infront of his one true love....telling her that he had nothing to his name, and therefore nothing to offer her...but, if she was willing, he would pull heaven and earth together to buy her a mangalsutra, ie, her respect. God I Love This Man. After a proposal like that, Heer would be crazy to still be upset with him. 😳
I'm soaring on cloud nine today in my love for Prem...and his Heer...and of course, for Gayatri Mom...who came and saved her son, and more importantly, his love, from disrepute.
Now, whether the actual wedding will happen or not is yet to be seen...I'm thinking no...b/c after all, its a Kekta show.
What I couldn't understand though, is that the Ullu is actually still standing there when Prem is proposing...He's the last person I would have expected to stick around for it...I'm floored to see that he's still there...I'm afraid though that he, in his presence, will cause more trouble for our beloved Premeer as Prem attempts to propose...😕
WOW...what a day Prem has had...what an emotional roller coaster ride he's been on all day...one after the other, he took blow after blow...and now, he will lay his life down on the line, and beg his love to accept him, even though he has nothing to give her in return....
Yes, THE Prem still exists...
and I LOVE HIM.
Boy, after all that, I hope I didn't leave something big out...though, If I did, I'm sure someone else will point it out....
Love,
Prem Ki Deewani,
~Payal
