Star Parivaar Awards started with a bang in 2002 and continues to grow bigger and bigger with each passing year.




With the introduction of new stars and some who had left returning the Star Parivaar, the family just keeps growing bigger and entertains the audiences to the fullest. The glamour of SPA isn't limited to getting nominated and bagging the awards; it is about the star performances by every member of the Star Parivaar.

This year, watch out for the endearing performances starting with the child stars of Paanchvi Pass who will be welcoming the audience with a song from Welcome Welcome. Also, the singers of the reality show Jo Jeeta Wahi Superstar will entertain the audience with their dancing and singing.

It will be the last stage performance for Shweta Tiwari. Shweta will take to the stage along with Hiten Tejwani. And they will be followed by Harshad and Aditi of Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil fame. They will dance to the tune of Ishq Hua from Aaja Nachle.

The awards night is all about performances so how can Nach Baliye jodis be far behind. Kashmeera Shah along with Krushna and Sanjeeda Sheikh along with Aamir Ali will be seen shaking legs to Bollywood songs.

In typical Bollywood ishtyle, similar to that Rani and Konkana in Lagaa Chunari Mein Daag, the Bidaai sisters along with their on-screen mamaji will perform on Hum Toh Aise Hai Bhaiyya. This will be followed by Benaf aka Baby who will be seen grooving to Badal Pe Paav Hai from Chak De! And without crutches for sure!

Who says only the silver screen male actors can do macho acts? Do watch this particular dancing act in which Shabbir Ahluwalia, Hussain, Shaleen Bhanot and Kapil Nirmal will be doting the macho man look and doing some stunning dance moves.

Lastly, there will some sizzling on-screen couples who have been nominated in the Favourite Jodi category performing one by one on some romantic tunes.

And of course, without anchors how can an awards function proceed. So there will be Ketki Dave, Ali Asgar, Deven Bhojani, Hussain, Tina, Abhaas and Tasneem Sheikh in charge of the mike. They are sure to tickle your funny bone.

Harshad, Shabbir in race for Arjun

Harshad Chopra aka Prem of Kis Desh Main Hain Mera Dil fame and Shabbir Ahluwalia who plays Milind in Kayamath are in the race for the character of Arjun in Ekta Kapoor's Kahaani Hamaaray Mahabharat Ki.




Suraj Rao, creative head of the show, told us, "We are discussing Arjun's character with Harshad. He had listened to the script and is quite ok with it. Though he is new he is quite suitable to the character. However, we are also in talks with Shabbir Ahluwalia."

Adds Suraj, "Nivedita Basu (creative head of Balaji) is going to take the final decision within two days. We are going to have a meeting on Thursday and the announcement will be made soon. And yes Anita Hasnandani is going to play Draudpati."

Arjun is one of the most important characters of Mahabharat. He was the best archer and was the one who had hit the eye of the fish by looking at its image in the water and then got married to Draupadi in swayamwar. Lord Krishna gave him knowledge about the famous Bhagwat Geeta at the battle field when Pandavas were fighting Kauravas and Arjun was not ready for it.

Welcome to Gen-Y


There is talent galore on the small screen, and it's important that it gets noticed. So a large number of actors, actresses, directors and producers gathered at a suburban fivestar the other night to applaud this new talent, at a show hosted by SaharaOne.
One seemed to have got transported to Planet Y, what with youngsters taking over all roles, right from anchoring to performances. A sizzling Barkha Bisht-Sengupta and the humorous Cyrus Sahukar were the emcees for the evening which saw house-rocking performances by Krystal D'Souza, Abigail, Jay Soni, Vikrant Massey and Parul and a romantic drama by Sara Khan, Vikas Manektala, Priyanka Bassi and Angad Hassija. Naveen Prabhakar had the audience rolling in the aisles with his stand-up comedy act while Mouni Roy and Sayantani Ghosh, in a far-cry from their on-screen dutiful bahu images, set the stage on fire with their dance moves (though one wonders what's with the striking golden ensemble on Mouni?)
But there was as much action offstage, as there was on it. Arzoo Govitrikar made an appearance after a long disappearance from the scene and was welcomed with heaps of praise for her new look comprising a fringe, elfin shoes and a cutesy balloon dress. Aditya Narayan made a dapper entry and was overheard saying that youngsters are conquering every field, be it acting, singing or rocket science. Krystal and Abigail formed a mutual admiration society as Abi went into raptures about Krystal's dancing skills and Krystal wowed Abi's outfit. The emotion transferred to Ragini Khanna (wearing a quirky patch on her dress that made it quite interesting) and Priti Amin where Priti praised Ragini for her "million dollar smile" and was complimented in return for her acting skills. Ditto between Raavee Gupta and Mansi Parekh — ex-colleagues who caught up with each other and made plans to hang out. Now, who said actresses can't be friends?
Couple-dom was the flavour of the evening as Raavee and Manojje Biddvai, Barkha and Indraneil Sengupta and Nazneen Patel with a mystery guy were seen together for most of the evening.
Anang Desai, Swati Chitnis, Krishna and JD Majithia stuck together as a family; Muskaan Mihani was seen flouncing around looking pretty in pink, and Sandiip Sikcand looked his relaxed best as he hung around chatting with friends about his upcoming film and plays and "lots more on hand." All in all, the evening was quite a dash of effervescence — just the kind needed for the usually gloomy evenings nowadays!
