First of all, my sincere apologies in the delay caused in posting this piece. I just moved to a new place, new culture and am still getting used to the whole experience. Am really sorry that I am giving this late, and M, thank you sweetheart for being so understanding about this!

Talking about Kis Desh Mein Hai Mera Dil, it brings with it this enormous history for me. Because Desh was literally the first ever desi show I "watched and loved". It was the most random incident that made me watch this beautiful saga of unconditional love.

I was bored and just flipping through the channels, so I came across SP, and the episode was where Prem refuses to marry Ash and defends Heer in front of his family! Back then, I didn't know anything about the show, its characters or the plotlines! But Prem Juneja's power and confidence in his words and Heer Maan's vulnerability as she wept in Prem's arms. That had me arrested! I will repeat this time and again, I have never seen a TV actor in our desi shows who is as expressive and passionate as Harshad Chopra, maybe a close call is Ashish (Rang Rasiya and Siye Ke Ram), Karan Tacker and Karan Patel. LOL they are all my favs ;) but HC takes the crown for me! 15-20 minutes was all that it took to get me addicted to the show hook, line and sinker! There was no going back, I couldn't think about anything else for the rest of the week, Prem's every word in that monumental scene from Desh still resonates in my head and heart!

That's how my tryst with Desh started and I must say that Desh along with Ek Hazaaron Mein Meri Behna Hai, are the only two shows so far, where the love story came a full circle and the shows got the ending it deserved. Nothing about Desh was rushed or done quickly. (Thank you Ekta ... probably the only thing I would thank you for!) There was something very unique about the Prem-Heer love story. It has an amazing script, yes there were bad tracks with too much drama, but the intensity was never lost, and that's in part probably due to the commitment of its lead actors, HC and AG towards their characters and the show.

Also, Prem Juneja is one of those rare Indian Male Characters, who can actually be called an absolute figure of our dream guy. He isn't an M&B character, he is the man every mother would want as a son, every father would be proud of, every brother would want to look upto, every sister would want to fuss over and the man whom every woman will find it easy to love and trust without fear. The only other similar character to Prem in Desi TV is Viren Vadhera of EHM in SP.

Desh is a unique mix of family relationships, where every character got its due. Every relationship was explored in all its shades, the beauty of promised love, of destiny taking two people together, tying them in an unconditional bond of love, a love that was prophesied, The very essence of Jugni's character brings so much beauty to the Premeer love story!

For me, Desh and Iss Pyaar stands on the same podium, I can never make a choice between these two, but at the same time, Desh is a fairytale that Ekta produced only once and she can never replicate it to that degree of perfection ever again!

I have said this before as well, but the dialogue writers of Desh are truly the best! The intensity of every dialogue between Prem and Heer, its sheer beauty and passion. And Harshiti has this amazing chemistry that can easily translate that intensity onscreen effortlessly!

If TV were to ever have a hall of fame, then Kis Desh deserves to be in there from the very beginning, it's a show that will always be remembered for raising the bar of romance in Indian TV, because it truly did and it did that in pure Indian style. It was the absolute desi love story with no external influences, every facet of the Premeer love story resonates with the essence of Indian culture.

Kis Desh Mein Hai Mera Dil ... Is a saga of unconditional and selfless love and the celebration of this love story will never end.
