Chapter 3
4 years later.
Meher finished the lullaby she had been singing to put Suraj to sleep. She was laying down next to Suraj on his bed running her hand gently over his head.
Suraj: Will you please read me a story now? he asked sweetly.
Meher: No sweetie it's time to sleep, she said getting up from the bed.
Suraj: But mama I'm not sleepy at all, he said yawning.
Meher: I can also see that, she said chuckling. Shut your eyes and you'll fall asleep okay?? Good night, she kissed his cheek.
Suraj: Good night mama, he said kissing her cheek. He snuggled into his covers shutting his eyes tightly.
Meher shut off the lights and walked out of the room shutting the door behind her.
Meanwhile...
Preet: And they lived happily ever after, He said concluding the story he had been reading to Nisha. He looked down and saw that she had fallen asleep on his chest. He placed the book on the side table and gently placed Nisha on the bed. He tucked her in and placed a gentle kiss on her forehead brushing back the hair falling on her face. He left the room shutting off the lights and shutting the room door gently. He walked back to his room and saw Meher struggling to undo her necklace.
Preet: Why does this necklace clasp always give you such a tough time! He said teasingly walking up behind her and looking at her reflection in the mirror.
Meher: Beacuse it hates me, she said frustrated. She finlly let go pouting cutely at Preet's reflection in the mirror. Preet smiled gently and slowly undid the clasp. His fingers brushed over her back making her heartbeat increase. Preet saw her blush lightly in the mirror. He removed the necklace and placed it on the table. He gently pushed her hair to one side trailing his fingers against her skin. Meher shivered under
his touch. He wrapped his arms around her waist pulling her closer to him. She gripped his hands tightly.He placed butterfly kisses along her neck up to her collarbone. She shut her eyes in bliss. He turned her around slowly so that she was facing him. She looked up at him with love. Preet aproached her lips but was stopped by her hand covering his mouth. She giggled lightly and ran into the closet shutting it behind her to change into her night ware. He sighed smiling. He walked out onto the balcony enjoyig the cool breeze looking out at the clear sky. He felt a hand on his shoulder. He looked to his side and saw Meher smiling up at him.
Meher: What are you doing out here??
Preet: Nothibg. Just felt like gazing up at the moon. But now I have another moon to gaze at as well, he said looking at her with a wide grin.
Meher lightly smacked his arm. He wrapped an arm around her pulling her closer. Meher placed her hand on his cheek and approached his lips. She gently kissed him. Preet readily accepted the kiss. They broke apart a couple of moments later grinning at each other.
Meher: Shall we sleep??
Preet: hmmm I've got a better idea he said eyeing her lips.
Meher: Stop it Preet! she said with a giggle pushing him away lightly going back inside. Preet also went in. Soon they were both fast asleep.
The next morning...
Suraj and Nisha slowly opened the door to their parents room and tiptoed inside.
They stood on the side where Preet was sleeping.
Nisha: Papa... She whispered shaking him
Preet groaned turning the other way
Suraj moved his head next to preets ear.
Suraj: PAPA!! He screamed loudly.
Preet: AAAHHH! he screamed loudly jumping up immediately. Nisha and Suraj quickly scurried underneath the bed hiding
Meher also got up startled.
Meher: Preet! What the heck was that!!
Preet: Someone screamed in my ear, he said rubbing it. He looked around the room and saw no one. Then suddenly it clicked to him. He slowly peered underneath the bed. Nisha and Suraj where lying down on their stomachs facing away from preet. Preet smiled knowingly. He got up and indicated to a confused Meher to be quite. Meher stayed quiet waiting to see what would happen.
He slowly lowered himself to the ground and slid underneath the bed. He laid on his stomach right next to Nisha an Suraj who still hadn't noticed him. He had his head propped up by his arm.
Preet: Good morning, he whispered. Nisha and Suraj turned towards preet sharing identical shocked expressions.
Suraj: Oh no. He scurried out from underneath the bed followed by Nisha Preet also came out and saw Suraj and Nisha hiding behind Meher on the bed.
Meher: Preet, where did these two come from?? She asked confused.
Nisha: Papa I didn't do anything. Suraj screamed in your ear. This was all his idea.
Suraj: Liar!! You were also part of the plan!!
They both started arguing.
Preet: QUIET! He yelled loudly.
Nisha and Suraj stopped and stared at Preet.
Preet: I think you both should be punished. What do you think Meher he said winking at her indicating that he was just playing around.
Meher: Yes Preet absolutely. She said playing along.
Preet: Come here you two, he said sternly still pretending to be mad. Nisha and Suraj stood in front of Preet their heads bent down.
Preet: Stretch your hands out to the sides, he commanded. Nisha and Suraj obeyed.
Preet grinned and began tickling them. Nisha and Suraj laughed uncontrollably while Meher smiled at the sweet scene. Preet sat down on the floor pulling both of them into his lap and tickling them even more. The room was filling with the sweet sound of laughter.
Nisha and Suraj together managed to push Preet down so that he was laying on the floor and began punching him playfully.
Preet: Okay okay enough please, he said getting up breathless.
Meher: So punishment over? She asked with a grin.
Nisha and Suraj looked at Preet hopefully.
Preet pretended to think for sometime.
Preet: ummm... Yes punishment over. He said grinning.
Nisha and Suraj: YAAAYYY!! They both screamed together happily.
Meher: Okay enough screaming. It's time to brush lets go! She said getting out if bed and hurrying the kids into the bathroom.
