Lalit smiled as he watched Preet slowly escort a very pregnant meher down the stairs.

"Preet! mein bachi nahi hoon, mein cud se chal sakti hoon!" meher shrilled in preet's face. "Obviously, tum bachi nahin ho, kyunki tum meri bachi ki ma ban rahi ho!" preet said cheekily as he grasped Meher's hand tighter to help her come down the stairs.

He could not believe that his youngest son had become so responsible. After Heer leaving, prem had become a stranger to the family, but Preet and Meher had been there for eveyone. Now they were finally getting some hapiness of their own.

When he saw Preet fuss over meher, he couldn't help but think of all the pregnancies he had endured.

He was broken out of his spell by preet's calls. "Bauji, mein meher ko leke Doctor ke paas ja raha hoon, aur phir mein Mr. Malhotra ke saath meeting mein araha hoon."

"Arrey nahi beta, aaj tum meher ki saath hi raho. Jab se hum canada aaye hain, tum ne, meher ke saath waqt hi nahi bitaya."

Preet whispered in Bauji's ear,"Agar waqt nahi bitaya hota toh aaj meher ki yeh halat nahi hoti!"

"Badmash!" Lalit roared.

Meher unable to hear what Preet had just said meher whined" Bauji, yeh kya mere buriyaan kar raha hain? Aur bauji, agar mein preet ke saath aur waqt bitaya, toh yah mein pagal ho jaongi ya isse pagal kar doongi!"

lalit laughed. "Thank you!" he said as he smothered both of them in a hug.

Meher and preet exchanged puzzled looks.

"Kisliye Bauji?" preet said.

"For being there for eveyone and keeping this family together. you guys are the glue of this family."

meher and preet smiled. "yeh toh haamara firz hai bauji, and we love this family as much as you do!" meher said as she squeezed preet's hand.

Preet and meher were coming from their doctor's appointment, when Meher had a certain craving for gol gappas.

"Preet, ruko na! mujhe gol gappa bohut kaana hai!"

"Arre thik hai, chalo!" preet said as he pinched meher's cheek.

preet watched with amusement as meher closed her eyes in pleasure as she ate the gol gappa.

"you want one?" meher asked preet

Preet reached for one from meher's hand, but she swiftly turned away. She giggled. preet pretended to be angry. meher smiled at her adorable husband. She quickly held one up to her husband's mouth. Preet shook his head.

"Ka lo na, preet!" meher said

Preet finally gave in as he ate the gol gappa from meher's hand, but he bit her finger on purpose. "Ouch preet!" meher said as she lightly hit him on his arm. They both laughed.

They walked off in the sunset towards the beach. As Preet and Meher sat on the beach, meher held Preet's arm. They waited for the sun to set. "meher, thank you!" preet said looking deep into her eyes. "Ab tum thank you kisliye bol rahe ho?"meher said.

"For being my wife, for loving me, for taking care of my family, for this baby,for bringing me closer to bauji, and lastly I know what you have been doing for prem Bhaiyaa."

Meher was puzzled. How did Preet know? Meher had been the only one talking to Prem after Heer had left. She had been convincing him to go to India and look for her. She would save prem dinner when he came home and she also gave him a shoulder to cry on. She hadn't told Preet because she knew how upset he was with Prem.

Meher smiled back at him and squeezed his arm harder. "Aren't you doing the same thing for me? I know you have been looking for Heer Di in India."

Now Preet was surprised. He didn't tell meher because he didn't want to get her hopes up in case he didn't find her.

They both prayed that their siblings would be able to share the happiness they now had.

Meher rested her head on his shoulder and he circled his arms around her back.

"Preet!" meher squealed. Preet was startled. 'Kya hua meher?" preet said concerned.

"The baby kicked!" meher said as she placed preet's hand on her stomach.

Preet felt the kick and got excited, "She is going to be a football player like her papa!"

Meher laughed, "we will see!"

Preet and Meher spent the rest of the evening thinking of all the things they would make their daughter do as she grew up.
