Here's a shot I wrote for an assignment, and I felt like posting it here so Enjoy!😃
The clock strikes 9pm and a girl is seen running furiously down the steps to the train station while attached to her cell phone at the ear.
"No Susan, I know it's late but I'll be fine. I've got to go but I'll talk to you later."
She flipped her phone shut before making the final leap onto the train. She sat down on the large bench and caught her breath before realizing that the car was completely empty.
She took her purse off her shoulder and hugged it closer to her body, hoping the anxious feeling in her stomach would evaporate. The train started slowing down and her heart accelerated in the hopes of someone coming onto the train and taking away the fear of being alone.
Out of the corner of her eye she saw the doors slide open and someone walk in. He took the seat directly across her and for some strange reason his eyes were locked on her.
She silently wished that she had on sunglasses so she could examine him without him noticing.
She watched as he peered at her and took out a book from her bag and held it out in front of her face to avoid him staring.
Her heart was fluttering and that feeling frightened her a bit that she was feeling apprehensive.
She heard footsteps across the floor and looked up slowly to see him standing over her.
Her breath stuck in her throat and she started coughing and he sat down next to her, stroking her back.
"Are you okay Rubina?"
Her eyes widen and she turned to him. "How do you know my name?" She looked down and checked if any of her belongings had her name written on them.
He smiled knowingly at her and she frowned trying to remember where she knew him from. Her heart was agreeing with him that they did know each other but her mind was boggled.
"Do I know you?" Rubina asked softly.
"You should," He replied as the train gathers speed.
She sighed before blushing lightly. "I'm sorry, I can't place you."
He smiled at her and got up to reclaim his spot. "You'll remember if you go back nearly 7 years,"
"7 years?" Rubina frowned. "You mean in high school?"
"Precisely," He smiled. "Remember anything significant from that time?"
"No," She shook her head but then she frowned. "Wait, did it have something to do with the chemistry explosion?"
A small smile comes onto his face and his eyes looked distant for a few moments. "Yeah it did,"
"Oh my god!" Her eyes went wide again and she put her hand to her mouth. "Are—you—oh my god Farid!"
He smiled wider at her and nodded. Now that she knew he was still nervous about it. What if she didn't care that it was him? What if she didn't like him? What if—he smiled as he saw her get up.
Her heart was fluttering as she got up and was about to sit next to him when the train suddenly stopped and she fell into his lap, surprising both of them.
"I knew I'd meet you again but I never thought it'd happen like this," he whispered to her.
Rubina smiled before pulling herself out of his lap. "Sorry,"
"Don't be." Farid lightly touched her shoulder before she asked the expected question that was at the tip of her mouth.
"Why did—how?" She mumbled.
He sighed. "How did my face change?" She nodded. "I've gone over this meeting in my head so many times."
"I'm sorry if you don't want to answer Farid," she smiled and shook her head. "I understand if it's hard to talk about."
Farid smiled. "That's not it. I just don't know what your reaction will be." He took a deep breath. "After the explosion, I was rushed to the hospital and informed that half of the skin on my left side was burned and so I had to get it crafted again."
"Wow you must've been in so much pain," She touched his left cheek lightly. "Does it still hurt?"
He shook his head. "Thankfully no," He put his hand on hers.
The train slowed down and she glanced out the window. "This is my spot," Rubina stood up carefully, avoiding what happened before when she tried to move on the moving train.
He smiled slowly and looked down at his shoes.
"Hey Farid, do you want to come with me?" Rubina smiled. "You know maybe catch up over coffee?"
"I'd like that," He stood up and they both left the train with their hands intertwined.
