Before anyone tells me this was completely lifted from a movie, I'm admitting it right now. I saw the movie last night--and couldn't help it! 😳 It seemed like the perfect one shot and so I made it a surprise one! 😃 Hope you all like it! 😃
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
"Oh come on Preet! Don't tell me you're scared of being beat by a girl," she teased in a sing song voice.
"Don't instigate me." He narrowed his eyes at her.
"And why not?" She tilted her head up. "It's not my fault you think you're going to lose to a girl,"
"I swear—" he mumbled under his breath. "Fine—you're on."
Both of them decided to go from one place to the other and they were off.
While she ran she couldn't help but think about how she and him had become friends. They had met during his friend Yug's wedding to her best friend Ravjot. At that point friendship was too far to even think about with the way they constantly argued and fought. Then the wedding had happened, keeping them both on opposite sides; girls vs. boys. Yet when Ravjot had her bidaai Preet was the main person who was there for her; as a friend. That made her realize his true personality. All the fighting was just a facade, he really cared about his family and friends and now she was one of them. Now they were meeting again for one of her other friend's wedding, Shifali this time to Preet's own brother Prem. It was as if they were meant to keep meeting every year. There was something about him that intrigued her some more; the way he always helped out with her problems and then refused to take any credit, saying the solution was in her head—he just brought it out in his humorous way.
Thinking about all this and not watching where she was going ruined things for her when she tripped on a rock and landed flat on her front side. "Ouch!"
Through her pain she let out curse words not bothering to use the edited versions when she saw Preet stop in his tracks and turn back.
"Are you okay?" He knelt down by her and slowly reached out to touch her ankle when he realized what he was doing and pulled back.
"It hurts Preet." She replied, trying to stand up.
"Don't. Here, put your weight all on me." He slowly reached around her waist and pulled her up to him. There were fireworks exploding around her as she slowly placed her right hand into his open one, as she limped towards the house on her left foot. "Ouch!"
"Don't think this is going to work too well," Preet mumbled as he slowly slipped his left hand underneath her knees and lifted her into his arms. "Much better."
"What? Preet put me down."
"I'm fine."
"Preet put me down!"
"Shabo!"
"Preet!"
"Shabo!"
"Preet!!!"
Finally he sighed, "Shabo you will shush right now because there is no way you're going to be able to get back to the house in time for the reception if you try walking. This is the best way."
Shabo didn't know why but a crimson colored blush had come to her cheeks and she could feel the heat. Just having Preet's face so close to hers, with him glancing down at her every few seconds, a smile emerging on his adorable face; she couldn't help but smile.
"Here we go," Preet's voice brought her out of her thoughts. She noticed that he had brought her to the room she was sharing with Shifali and that meant he had lifted her UP the stairs.
"You carried me up the stairs?" She asked.
"No Shabo—we simply floated from the ground." He winked as he set her down on the bed.
"Oh shut up," She threw a pillow at him.
"Hey! I carry you here and I don't even get thanks?" He pretended to pout.
Right then Shifali comes through the door, chatting away on her cell phone when she sees Shabo hunched over by her ankle. She quickly asks them. "What's wrong?"
"She hurt herself when she was trying to race me," Preet told her as he looked for some balm to massage onto it. When he found it he handed it to Shifali who shook her head.
"I can't do it Preet. I'm on the phone and see," she showed him her hands that had some freshly applied mehndi on them. She walked away still talking.
"Tum ladkiyan bhi na—phone pe hi chipki rehti ho. Itni baatein kis liye? She's getting married to him in two days; they can talk all they want."
Shabo shook her head as she felt the cool balm on her ankle. "You won't understand Preet. It's something a girl goes through just once."
"Sure," He smiled as he continued massaging her ankle. "Dukh nahi raha na?"
She shook her head as she stared back at him. "Tumhe kabhi koi mili hain?"
He looked up at her startled by the question but then shook his head. "Tumhe?'
"Nahi," She looked down where his fingers were working circles on her ankle.
"I believe that in this world, someone's name is meant to be joined with someone else."
"You're right." She smiled as she looked up at him.
"Just like Laila Majnu, Heer Ranjha,"
"Soni Mahiwal, Romeo Juliet," she added.
"Ravs and Yug, and even Shifali and Prem bhaiyya; and just like that Shabo your name is meant to be joined with someone else. Shabo and—"
"Preet!" She yelped out as her ankle hurt.
"Preet?" He repeated.
She slowly looked into his eyes and wasn't aware of who was looking back at her. Preet—the one who loved to tease her, or the one who had so much concern for her?
Without acknowledging anything he continued massaging her ankle till he wrapped it in the tension band and slowly placed it back on the bed. He was well aware of her eyes following him to the door. He just smiled at her and walked away from the door, and then went back knowing she'd still be looking out at where he just was. "Agar sapna dekhna hai—to so jao," He winked and with that he was gone.
Shabo didn't want to analyze this whole feeling, jab hi hona hoga—woh ho hi jaayega, She remembered the words Yug had said when he took her friend away from her At that time she knew he was just teasing but now—the words held meaning for her. Maybe just like other love legends her name would be joined with his too.
So yes it got kinda sappy for Shabo's taste I presume—but I still really sincerely hope she liked it! 😛
Love you,
Meera😳
