Alvida Kis Desh + A Critique

Dear Creatives,

Before I start with the critical analysis... Its Alvida Kis Desh from end! not for anything, but its pointless really. Kis Desh is not what it used to be. I used to be watching an eternal love story of Prem & Heer and not some conniving women scheming to separate the main leads! I am sick and tired of the whole show and I am sick and tired, of screaming, raving and ranting for the show to regain it's lost charm & glory.

So creatives, I bow down. The IPL Scores are Creatives : 1 And Audience 0 and the creatives win. Congratulations. May you all bask in the glory of your complacencies. May you all be with your own ideologies that what you think is right. On our part, we are leaving your show not because we lost, but because we cant take the crap you churn out. I have tried to tell you in the nicest of way possible on what's wrong, what will work and what will not but obviously, you are not getting it...because obviously you don't see reason. Obviously you dont VALUE OR RESPECT your AUDIENCE and hence, you keep re - heating the same dish all the time. In what language, do we tell you : WE DO NOT LIKE WHAT WE ARE WATCHING THESE DAYS. I think, I am talking in english here and not some greek foreign language.

I wish I could thank you but I am sorry to say, that neither you all have the foresight nor the vision and you all have no idea about the foundation and the essence of the show.

May be tampering with the foundation and essence, is your thing... watching this tampering on TV is certainly not our thing. So, be in this glass world of yours and in this illusion that you are the best. Obviously, you are not ready to combat and embrace change.

And I am very sorry to say, that you all have FAILED BIG TIME. You all were given a wonderful show on a platter and you have totally wrecked it! You have not been able to live up to a legacy that was woven and spun by Mr. Gary Bhinder. If not for the audience, atleast for him. WAKE UP and if you still want to be in this dream world of yours, then please please please, END THIS SHOW.

Oh and a request to whoever aproves the screen play/story concept/dialogues and whoever, it matters: Can you please stop jerking your audiences around as if they are some yo-yo balls and stop taking them for a ride

I have a life where there are enough stresses and strains in it - so thank you very much. I used to watch this show to get rid of the stress ad strain, not rip my hair apart in confusion and wonder - WHATEVER HAPPENED TO THE MEDIUM AND REALM OF ENTERTAINMENT. Aapka show, aapko hi mubarak ho. Oh and Star Plus if you are reading this post - I dont think Balaji will have the guts to END THIS SHOW, So can you do us a favour and end the reigns of Balaji on Star Plus and put curtains down on this show. You will save so much time, effort and money, if you do and No, we dont want this show going to the afternoon slot. End this. So requesting your intervention please. Either, retain the foundation of the show, give us our Prem or then please put curtains down on this show.

Kis Desh - A Critique:

Today's episode drove me to write this!!!

Kis Desh Main Hai Mera Dil has been portrated as a different love story - all about pre destined and immortal love. It was supposed to redfine love on the small screen. All in all the whole story had a very different but contemporary feel to it. Very Realistic in some ways to say the least....It had us glued to the TV Screen at the time slot of 8:30 pm on Star Plus thanks to a rocking chemistry between the main protogists. It was supposed to be a love story - very different from the regular rona dhona and the saas bahu khitpit ..the show was different and catching on...Right??? Think Again! Right? Wrong!

I am still trying to fathom out the reason as to why most of us went gaga over this serial - Preets one liners, Ashlesha's comedian streak, Heers Sensitivity, Prems endearing look, Heer and Prem's expressions where they talk through the eyes, Gayatri as the mother hen, Mehers vunerability, Manmeets psychoism, Savitri Kaki whom all of us thought would be a catalyst in bringing Prem & Heer together'.. And this is the serial that had us say Yeh dil mange more!! The show made us smile and laugh and believe in the beauty and power of love? For me, like always, a show has started off well but somewhere down the lime has lost its steam and lost its steam, it sure did in a big way.

Kehte hai, bhagwan ke ghar main der hain, andher nahin. Par Balaji ke serials main, hero- heroine ke milne ke liye der bhi hai and andher bhi. Kehte hai, pyar main koi gile shikwe nahin hote par Balaji serials main, pyar nahin, sirf gile shikwe hote hain. Kehte hain, pyar ek atoot bandhan hai, par balaji serial main, yeh bandhan tootne ke liye - ek second nahin lagta.

Kehte hai, acchai ki hamesha jeet hotee hai, par balaji ke serials main burai ki hamesha jeet hoti hain.

Can religion be stopped being made as some kind of a joke. Can the yada yada track - a track which symbolizes victory of good over evil be stopped please, every time they show maya, veera and gayatri.

Money is everything in today's world and hey don't work hard because hard work never pays, Talent is of no use, use other people and other people's feelings to get our point across or then is it showing us and telling us to bad and mean and use and hurt other peoples feelings because being good and kind and ever so sacrificing is not going to help you at all... its definitely not teaching us to move ahead in life - is this what life is all about? How else can one explain Maya & Veera's Scheming ways and the fact that they aren't exposed as yet!

and Pray for heaven's sake, why is Maya after Prem & Heer's life!! Should it be, Preet & Meher's life that she would be after!

I dont think the story writers and the creatives have a goal in sight and know where they want the story to head. Else how can one explain too many loopholes and unresolved tracks. Instead of working on unresolved tracks the creatives seem to be wanting to add more masala to hook the audience... please gimme a break!!

Never look back and think of those who have made you, never look down to see where you have come from and yep, be ever so ungrateful as you can. Else how can one explain, Lalits reaction in not remembering his friend even once in the last 6 months, How else can one explain, Heer being said, muhe yakeen hi nahi hota ki tum teji ki beti ho and teji & balraj are those, the Juneja's are indebted to for life - a friend who gave lalit his entire earnings so that he , lalit could start life afresh.

Yet, we have dont have lalit thinking about a friend who made him.

Can some one tell me, why do we have a spineless fool in the name of the Harman Juneja in the show? I mean, why is he even there! All he does is suck up to his wife and he is hardly shown. Pathetic and Sad, that you just relegate the third lead to a mere extra.

Characters have totally lost their essence. I cant fanthom out Gayatri's reaction. I dont understand her character one bit. Gayatri has turned out to be this blind, unaware and insensitive, scheming idiot who is selfish, foolish and highly immature.

Now, they are showing that Prem has totally lost it. As a final straw, he thinks Heer lied - his heer lied - his heer, his heart told him that she can never lie and he thought she lied. Do the creatives even know what they are showing. He miscredites her, he redicules her.

Can some one tell me, if this is Kis Desh that I am watching because I think I am not watching a Planet Earth wala show. It is all so alien to me.

Lalit was supposed to be an extremely humble man and a man of words. However, he is coming across as some one who is totally spineless. (All the male characters are spineless and have no nerve of steel)

Preet is suddenly becoming seriously and taking over Prem's mantle. I mean c'mon. I agree, other characters too need space and medium to act but not at the cost of ridiculing and undermining your main male protogonist.

Gayatri is ruthless, insensitive and some one who is hell bent on hurting other people's feelings and treating her son and daughter in law as if they are some non existence commodity. This character is over reacting to the point of driving me crazy.

Gayatri has lost it big time and is so hell bent in revenge that she has forgotten the difference between right and wrong, forgotten the difference between good and bad. She isnt concerned about what her husband must be feeling, what would go through her children'smind. lalit is a statue. Since when has kis desh become a matrichial family?

Is it really so easy to forget a person specially some one with whom you claim to have loved and be best friends with. I really wonder how will prem be redeemed now? What the hell will do, when he learns that he has wronged the only person, he has truly loved in his entire life.

Nothing I bet, except for cry over spilt milk. No Wait, He will go and sit under under the bridge after driking and howl buckets and buckets of tears. Since when has Prem become a mommy's boy and a dhoodh ka dhoola? Since when has he stopped getting a spine and become a weakling. This is not the Prem, we fell in love with. The very Prem, who couldnt stand if the world said anything to Heer, that Prem today said that Heer was wrong.

The very prem who could only pour his heart out to Heer, is refusiung to talk to her now.

Does this Prem belong to Planet Pluto by any chance.

Veera's miscarriage Identity has still not come out and it has very conveniently being forgotten thanks to the creatives and the story writers suffering from amnesia!!!

Is there any logic prevailing in this show any more?? I don't think the story writers themselves are aware as to how they want the story to shape and going by the current track, it seems too run of themill kinds. Heer will keep quiet and accept her fate as it is.

Can some one get prem and heer to get a conversation going and understand each others point of view,

Isnt love also about trust and the fact that one will be true to each other and not hide stuff from one another? So is Kis Desh telling us to play along and keep the ones you love in the dark?

Too many cooks spoil the broth but in Kis Desh Main Hai Mera Dil, too many characters spoil the plot!

Can some one tell me why are new characters are being introduced when there is major chunk of the storyline they can work upon. New characters are being shown, characters who will soon disaapear for the creatives will not know how to handle the plot.

Of late it seems that Prem and Heer are the modern day devas! Can some one tell then that its not the end of the world.. everytime heer looks at Prem and Prem looks at her, i feel they both are singing ..dont cry for me -argentina ...ooops dont cry for me - my sweet love. Can someone please tell them that its ok to sacrifice but one has to fight for what is rightfully theirs. Pyar kia hai koi chori nahin ki prem and heer darling'

Uff and thisMaya & Veera & Gayaytri ' their scheming ways are driving me up the wall. Is Kis desh Main Hai Mera Dil Ka actually teaching us that falling in love is a bad bad idea and telling us not to believe in love and the institution of marriage?????

Why is there no passing reference of balraj and teji by lalit and gayatri? Why is Maya so anti Prem & Heer? Where is Jugni? Where are the doves? Why is Kiran not shown? Where is the freshness, the cuteness and the romance? Why has lalit become a looser of the first order?

This serial is so unclear - so unclear and so confusing that one just cant stretch their brain cells any more. Consistency is still an issue. Heers property has conveniently been forgotten? the lotter ticket has conveniently been forgotten?

The essence of kis desh has suddenly been lost and forgotten? The foundation is broken and is being tampered with. How difficult is it to run a show keeping the essence intact? and if they cant then they have no right being where there are.

Everytime, we see kis desh, I cant think, if it is a kyunki, kahani, kavyanjali, kasauti that I am watching. This whole show is a kichdi of sorts!!

Why do the hero and heroine have to suffer all the time. Why cant veera be taught a lesson. Why cant her truth be exposed? Wont that hold audience interest, if veera's truth is exposed... how will the family deal with the truth?

How I wish it was Maya and gang in the streets. Thoda sa effort unhe bhi lagana chahiye
There is no silver lining in this show and its seems as if the doors of kis desh are closed forever.

kis desh also teaching us to break a person heart and in being heartless?

It seems that the madding crowd funda caught up with lalit and it was upto gayatri to raise the kids and in the quest of yearning and working hard for more income and making a name for himself in the business world. I guess, he forgot to spend quality time with his children - something he is paying up for now.

The creatives it seens are trying to create a magic of their success story here in this show and they seem to forget that this show has its own USP and they should encash upon it. Oh they are lost for sure. They dont know how to hold on and retain freshness and think that the tried and tested do the trick. Nopes thats not the way things work - atleast not any more. The competitors seemed have realized it and have cashed on it. They innovate something that balaji doesnt want to do and if they do, they are too scared to constantly innovate and improvise.


The Loopholes in the story are many and the character sketch very confusing. I expected more out of the story line in particular. The last thing one wants to do after a hard days of work is to sit on the television and cry along with Heer or then bang their heads against the wall seeing weakling lalit and prem, a scheming ans devious gayatri, Veera & Maya.

Death could not separate Prem & Heer, God always got these two together, sanjana couldnt come between them, neither could simran. RR was not able to touch them and a misunderstanding which is stupid to the point of no return is able to create a rift. Prem & Heer knew what they were thinking, they didnt need to talk - they just knew ! Do the creatives even knowing the meaning of DESTINY. Are they trying to show that a misunderstanding has higher weightage than God's Plan? Are they trying to show that there is nothing called Karma in this world? that there is no God? This is insane! (Heer, please dua maangi, woh dua zaroor kabool hogee. We want our Prem back and only you can give us our Prem.)

Whatever happenned to the cute and subtle teasing between prem and heer. What happened to Preets banter with his dad. What about prems cute expressions, heers sensitivity? Whatever happenned to the prem and heer ? Whatever happenned to the USP of the show? Whatever happenned to the magic the innocence in the show. Wouldn't it be fun had this continued to be a romantic show?

Sadly, think the balaji creative team got a little too ambitious and decided to try the tried and tested formula... but somebody please tell them that the tried and tested formula doesnt work all the times as all factors have to be taken into consideration. It isnt necessary, what works well for one has to work well for others. It doesnt work that way. (Its good to take risk and a greatness of the person lies in the fact, to the extent that they are able to stand up to their own conviction. )

Alas, kis desh main hai mera dil isn't about falling in love any more. It's about about revenge and hey where are the emotions gone? Its now about the quest to reach the top, the quest to ruin anothers life at the expense of losing your smile and your soul....

P.S. : I really didnt think a point will come in the show where I would remove the " Ma" from Gayatri Ma or then " The" from the Prem but after today, I guess, I had to! Today, Kis Desh ceases to be Kis Desh for me. It is just another show
