GEC watch: STAR Plus, Colors at par; Zee 12 GRPs away

Week 19 has the top three Hindi general entertainment channels (GECs) closely competing with each other. While STAR Plus was lonely at the top for the last two weeks, in Week 19, Colors gives it company. Both the channels have garnered 22 per cent share each, as per the latest TAM report, for C&S 4+, HSM audiences.

Both have seen losses in GRPs and viewership in the past week. While STAR Plus lost 31 GRPs, Colors has lost 16 GRPs. Again, both have garnered 248 GRPs each.

Zee TV's GRP stands at 236 and it has managed to draw a relative channel share of 21 per cent. It's the only channel to have seen a rise in its share in the week. Two of its shows are in the top five in Week 19.

NDTV Imagine is at No. 4 with 83 GRPs and has managed to grab a relative share of 7 per cent. Sony is 10 GRPs behind and has managed to lock a 6 per cent share in the Hindi GEC pie.


Bidayi is the most watched programme on Hindi GECs. The highest TVR recorded by it in Week 19 was 6.24. Another STAR Plus show, Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, has recorded a TVR of 5.73. Balika Vadhu is the third most watched programme, with a TVR of 5.02.

Zee's Agle Janam Mohe Bitiya Hi Kijo and Chhoti Bahu have fetched TVRs of 4.6 and 4.2 respectively. Uttaran on Colors, at No. 6, has managed to fetch a highest TVR of 3.95. Dance India Dance on Zee follows with a TVR of 3.72.

The other shows in the top 10 list are - Jai Shri Krishna on Colors, Kis Desh Mein Hai Mera Dil and Raja Ki Aayegi Baarat on STAR Plus
