"Nightmare..." Preet yelled out to the retreating figure of Heer "You mean in my nightmares!" and then he broke into a fit of laughter smacking Prem playfully.

Prem stared at Heer walking away, grinning, 'fiery there aren't we?'

Heer carefully tiptoed to the kitchen, careful to not make any noise while sneaking up on her mom. She smiled as she got closer; her mom had been getting a bit chubbier these days but Heer loved it! To her, a chubbier mom meant bigger hugs and a comfier lap to lay her head on when she came back from school dead tired. It was there, her head in her mom's lap that she shared everything that happened at school, or complained about all the homework she got or to where she just lay there and slept on the comfiest pillow in the world. Teji's sudden voice coming out of nowhere made Heer jump bringing her out of her dreamland.

"Heer go wash your hands, ki patha how many germs you've gathered from the bus."

Heer pouted and let out a sigh "Seriously mom, you're no fun at ALL!" and with that Heer flailed her arms walking away to the washroom to scrub those 'oh-so-dirty' hands.

"Don't take too long, I made peendi thi sabzi for you!" Teji yelled out while giggling at her daughters tactics. To Teji, Heer was an open book; she would try to sneak up on Teji EVERY single day and get caught EVERY single day too! Teji rolled her eyes. Heer did everything within a routine, doing the same things the same way, everyday. How she managed to get into IB only god knew.

From the bathroom Teji heard a yelp and she grinned, no matter how old Heer got, she always acted like a three year old toddler being given ice cream when it came to her favourite food.

Teji looked at her daughter almost running to the table, with her big almond eyes staring at the food with anticipation and the huge grin that was planted on her face. Teji inhaled a sigh at noticing not for the first time, at the slight dimples that Heer had inherited from her father.

"Heer slow down! Yeh lardki bhi na...Heer!" Teji scolded her daughter while watching her swallow her food without even chewing it properly.

"Sorry mom, but I have to check my e-mail, Meher and I have to start making our presentation for English."

"Homework already?" Teji exclaimed while putting away the dishes.

"Yeah, homework already," Heer sighed. "Oh, I almost forgot, my laptop is out of its battery, can I use your computer today mom? Please?" Heer almost begged, putting forth her puppy dog face.

"Why don't you just plug it in?" Teji inquired, of course she knew the answer already; "Oh mom, I forgot where I put the plug for the stupid thing, I swear it hates me!" One day, ONE DAY, she'd burst with Heer's laziness, ONE DAY! Teji thought to herself while rolling her eyes once again.

Heer smiled and engulfed her dear mother into her all too famous hugs, "Mom, I kinda forgot where I put the plug for the stupid thing. I swear it hates me or something!" and with that Heer flung her arms out dramatically, yeh bhi naa...

"Language," Teji warned and Heer scowled.

"Fine, but can I go now?"

"Ja, meri ma, Ja!"

"Thank you!" Heer sighed and skipped to her mom's room oddly happy. Maybe this crappy day isn't crappy after all Heer thought to herself while replaying the scenes of seeing those two Pignake's and Meher in all three of her classes after her little walk.

Heer sat down on the chair and turned on the computer while singing to the chicken song that Meher got stuck in her head just before they were about to leave school. "I feel like chicken tonight, like chicken tonight, like chicken tonight." Hmm...New Email... Heer looked at the pop-up sign on the desktop and instinctively clicked it, while still singing, a bit louder perhaps.

"Mom you've got mail!" Heer stopped her singing and yelled out.

"Okay okay." Teji yelled back, oblivious to anything but cleaning her dishes.

Heer looked at the name of the sender and smiled; Gayatri Aunty! She hadn't talked to her for such a long time! Heer started singing again and opened the mail, surprised to see some photos being downloaded slowly. Ah, man we need a faster internet connection. Heer noticed the typed letters in Italics, Aunty's signature move you could call it and grinned, stopping her awesome song to read what her dear Aunty had written up.

Here Teji, take a good look. I've finally sent you the pictures you've been bugging me about. Khush? the picture below is our most recent family picture when Preet came over last summer and the one below is Prem. Heer and him will look perfect together won't they? Remember; don't say a word to Heer Teji. I know it's hard for you since you tell each other everything, but this is for her own good, we both know that. Take care, and do send some pictures of you and Heer too! Bye!

Heer gawked at the screen, her eyes about to pop out of her sockets. Wha?!? Huh?!? How DARE they! Heer scrolled down to see the same chocolate-y brown eyes staring back at her as she had seen earlier this morning, the ones that she avoided all day, the ones that were presently taunting her of the trick that she had just fallen for. The trick she had almost fallen for, Heer corrected herself. So he's a part of this too? No he can't be. Heer read the e-mail again, staring at the family picture.

Before Heer knew it, a tear went rolling down her check. Heer wiped her lone tear and stared at it in shock, was she crying? She hadn't done that, since forever! Oh how it hurt her that her OWN mother was playing a game with her, tricking her into marrying a complete stranger who she already hated! She had trusted her mother more than anything in the world, and this is what she got in return?

Heer shook her head, trying to knock out all the self-pity thoughts out of her head. With a blink of an eye, Heer's eyes transformed completely, the rage evident, the determination shining through, the hurt piercing. Two can play at this game!

My sister understands Hindi, but she can't really speak and my dad even after living like eight years outside of India, is still so....... Indian for a lack of better word!!!!! So he ALWAYS speaks in Hindi!!!!

That's probably cause I can't spell hindi in english😛 Can you speak in hindi then? I'm a punjaban lol..so ALL i speak at home is plain old desi punjabi!!! go mee!!!!😆Oh and mi mom is just like your dad, except that she TRIES to speak in English once in a while, but her grammer is all over the place, man I love her lol...and I think its been 17 years since she's been here...i Know eh? 😆
