TV is awesome isn't it? I turned to MTV today and Katy Perry's Thinking of You came on. And I was just, I could write a Meet fic on that! So I did. A word of warning though: It is a tad depressing. There is no happy ending. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. Ooh and to make it more depressing, play this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kxfxDycUVnE
Thinking of You
"Meher kitni pyaari lag rahi hai na?" Ashlesha Maan cooed as she and Heer Maan got Meher ready for her wedding.
Meher Maan - soon to be Mrs. Meher Juneja - forced a small smile. She stared blankly into the mirror, feeling nothing for the bride that gazed back out at her.
It was her wedding day.
So why wasn't she happy?
Comparisons are easily done
Like an apple hanging from a tree
I picked the ripest one
I still got the seed
You said move on, where do I go?
I guess second best is all I will know
"Heer, Ash! Baraat aa gayi!"
With a squeal, Heer and Ash ran out of the room, leaving Meher alone.
She remembered how on Heer's wedding, when the baraat had come, Heer had run to the window, peering out behind the curtain like a bride should.
Meher, however, didn't move. She felt the tears build up. She quickly raised her hand to wipe the tears; previous experience told her that mascara stains. And Meher didn't have time for that right now.
She looked down at the mehndi on her hands. Kulraaj Di had done her mehndi for her, and had hidden her soon-to-be husband's name in it. She searched for it now. There it was. Hidden in the paisley design was the name Harman.
She closed her hand into a fist.
'Cause when I'm with him I am thinking of you
Thinking of you
What you would do if
You were the one who was spending the night?
Oh I wish that I was looking into your eyes
The door opened again. Meher looked into the mirror. She let out a gasp.
"Preet?" she turned around, facing him.
Preet Juneja, brother of the groom, stood in her room, dressed sharply in a brown sherwani. He crossed the distance between them.
"You look beautiful," he said softly. He brushed her cheek lightly.
She closed her eyes, biting her lip. The touch of his hand sent shivers down her spine. Harman never made her feel that way.
You're like an Indian summer
In the middle of winter
Like a hard candy
With a surprise centre
How do I get better
Once I've had the best?
You said there's
Tons of fish in the water
So the waters I will test
He kissed my lips I taste your mouth
He pulled me in, I was disgusted with myself
Meher pushed his hand away. She turned away from him, the tears building up again. "What are you doing here, Preet?"
Preet wanted so badly to reach out and touch her, to let her know that he was always there for her. He wanted to hug her. But he held back, knowing that anything he did now would only upset her. "I wanted to see you."
"You've seen me, now please get out."
Her voice trembled as she tried her hardest to stop herself from crying. Preet couldn't take it. He pulled her into his arms. She wrapped her arms around him, sobbing freely into his chest.
Then just as suddenly she pushed him away again. "How could you do this, Preet? How could you let Bauji get me married to Harman? How could you just stand by and watch it all happen? How am I supposed to be your bhabhi when I love you? I thought you loved me too, Preet! I thought you loved me!"
She made no effort to hide the accusations in her voice, and like little needles they stabbed Preet over and over again.
You're the best
And yes, I do regret
How I could let myself
Let you go
Now the lesson's learned
I touched it, I was burned
Oh I think you should know
"I do love you, Meher," Preet replied. "That's why I'm here. Run away with me, Meher. Run away with me. We'll elope and we can start a new life somewhere else and it'll be just you and me and...say yes, Meher, please say yes."
Her heart ached to say yes, to let Preet take her away, to leave the world behind so it was just the two of them.
"Meher!" Ash and Heer returned into the room. "Preet, tum yahaan kya har rahe ho?" Ash pushed him out the door, scolding him as she did.
Preet took one last look at the love of his life. It was too late now.
Cause when I'm with him
I am thinking of you
Thinking of you
What you would do if
You were the one
Who was spending the night?
Oh I wish that I
Was looking into your eyes
Looking into your eyes
Looking into your eyes
Oh won't you walk through
And burst in the door
And take me away
Oh no more mistakes
Cause in your eyes I'd like to stay
