everyone seems to say that about Colin Firth... i haven't watched that mini series with him, people think im crazy as i have also seen every single movies, mini series on BBC and others except that one... was he that good... i have to watch it soon.... i always adored Matthew Macfadyen in Mr. Darcy's shoes tho

Salma u have to watch it to believe it. Infact I thought though Elizabeth was played very well by Jennifer Ehle there but somehow Lizzy's character was made more mature, more worldly compared to the novel but Darcy was simply fabulous! Lana.

@ Lana: surely i will watch it very soon, i never did becoz im not a big fan of Colin firth, he is a brilliant actor but never 4t of him as Mr. Darcy, but will watch it...

the perception of Lizzy's in the book did differ from the movie i think to... she did seem more out there, i was interesting to see the difference between descriptive reading and seeing a movie... changes how you sometimes view of character... but never did Mr. Darcy's character change for me...

glad to meet an austen fan, North & South? dont know that
i have to confess, my first love is p&p so thats the one whose characters i love, s & s i relate more bcos of the movie than the book, i will have to read it again to remember its characters,
my next fav is emma, and the best thing about those books is that i can see all that happening in out desi setting as well, not literally the balls and outings but the social niceties

no i meant heer as jane, the pretty calm sensible one who fell in love deeply
and meher as elizabeth, not as pretty as heer, but outspoken and fun
but then i cannot fit the guys in correctly....
and puleez ekta cannot be taking inspiration from austen otherwise her shows wouls be a lot better

I agree with you Rakshu, Heer and Meher can relate more to the two sisters in sense and sensiblity.... Heer the mature and stable one!

Wasn't Elizabeth a bit of a judgemental type well doesn't Heer have that attribute now...

i can see that dilemma now

jane was supposed to be the prettier of the two and very grounded, not running away with her emotions.... thinking the best of everyone, maybe heer is changing now but i think meher fits the role better, she is not as pretty as heer and is more outspoken specially in the beginning of the show
ok you have to watch the colin firth version of p&p, i have always thought of him as darcy after watching that, like in the bridget jones movies, they even had a spoof about that,
which one were you talking about,, i wasnt sure, i have tried to catch every version but i might have missed it, i'll look around for it

jane is supposed to be prettier, more calm, level headed, making sure everything is fine, not to ruffle any feathers, whereas lizzy says her mind regardless of who is affronted,
and also prem and preet cannot be bingley and darcy, so i think its a lost cause, i cant think of the kis desh version of p&p now
Preet can be Bingley very well but Meher is more Lizzy than Jane. Veera can be Ms. Bingley very well. And DJ Mrs. Bennet? No no, Mrs. Bennet was way better than DJ, maybe DJ can be Lady Catherine De Bourgh. 😆
i cant think of any other characters my leads didnt work :(

i am glad i found a few austen fans, but i have given up on casting prem and heer in my p&p version, i will reread s&s for the mention by rakhsha and salma, but i dont think the guys will fit in it
i so wanted to write this or convince someone else to write
austen mentions, i loved anne hathaway in the 'being jane' and i liked 'the jane austen book club' too
i will be looking for north & south and sandition mentioned by rakhsha and lana and salma's version of p&p
