Preet is slightly worried about his Prem Bhaiya and decides to consult a doctor. He calls the doctor home, who examines Prem and recommends a few tests and scans including an MRI twhich is conducted at the hospital. The results of the test come out and a very grim doctor is speaking to Preet three days later.
What happenned doctor - says Preet. Is everything ok?
Well begins the doctor, before I discuss the results of these tests. I have to ask you, is there any incident that might have happenned with Prem wherein he hurt his head/any head injury?
Preet replies, nothing I can think of doctor but yes, Prem Bhaiya was in the midst of the market, where the delhi bomb blast happenned. I dont know, if he had any head injury or anything.
Well, that explains a few things, the doctor told Preet. May be the effect of the blast was such that it affected a part of the brain, which caused a seizure. or then may be the effect of the blast was such, that he had a head injury in the blast and he had a seizure because of this head injury.
Preet is stunned, Prem Bhaiya & Seizure - but why - why to Prem Bhaiya of all peopl.
See, begins the doctor. There is nothing wrong with Prem. He is fine and there is nothing wrong in having a seizure - only it just leads to momentary memory lapse and in this period of memory loss, the patient does not remember anything - so yes, in that way, one needs to be careful. Such Memory Lapses only lasts for a couple of hours but in these couple of hours, you have to remember, the patient will not remember anything.
So, begins replies, does it explain why Prem Bhaiya behaved in such a manner all this while. Does this explain, why he was rude to Heer Bhabhi at times, why he kept away.
See Preet, said the doctor. This is a very sensitive phase right now. No Questions must be asked as to where he was right now. Why he kept away. You have to understand, that these were things that were beyond his control, that forced him to do things against his own will. He wasnt aware that he was doing all this. He probably couldnt reason out why he was doing such things and hence wanted to stay away from the family, till he didnt figure out things.
A seizure isnt a bad thing Preet. Its not a disorder. Its curable. It just means that Prem will have to be on anti seizure medications for a while, which will prevent a seizure from recurring. Plus, the love and care of family member does wonders to a patient. You dont need to pressurize him. you need to make him strong and be loved and be around him all the time.
The doctor continued. Prem is fine, he really is. Its just that he has had this seizure and I suspect, he had this seizure a few times before after the blast, that lead to a momentary memory lapse for a few hours. In this few hours, he wouldntr any remember anything. So strictly, no driving.
How can I stop Prem Bhaiya from driving. What do I tell him, What do I tell the family, remarked Preet.
Well, said the doctor. Why dont you start driving him around? It will make him feel special. Start doing this for him without making him feel limited and hassled. Do it in a way, that makes him feel loved and wanted. You have to confide in your family in this Preet. Because they are the ones, who are going to help you.
Preet sat there, listening and trying to assimilate everything the doctor was saying as she went on to explain about the effects of a seizure.
