Chapter 3
Prem's Point Of View
While looking out of my window at the cold dark night, I see a reflection of a figure in my window. Confused, I turn and look around at that mysterious, well, not so anymore figure.
"Tum?" I yell, not being able to control my feelings. Don't tell me that I have to put up with this Good-for-nothing-not-even-a-girl for this whole bus ride. Great. Just great. First, I help her on the bus, and secondly, she screams at me to let her go and then she falls on her own deal and starts to blame me. What did she expect anyways? Did she expect me to say "Oh, I am sorry, now let me help you up.", and that too, after all that blaming? In her dreams!
"Jerk!" she mutters under her breath.
I glare at her, calling me, Prem Juneja a jerk is it? "You do know that I heard that, don't you...Chudail" I reply. Her mouth falls wide open, as if she had never had a guy reply back to her before. Very self consious I say.
"Muh band rakho. Next thing you know, you are blaming me for all the flies that get into your mouth." I reply, placing my earplugs into my ears, one by one. I don't look at her, but all I knew was, she had her eyes set on me with a Did-he-just-say-that expression.
"Excause me? Do you think I am here to listen to your crap?" she finally says.
I don't reply, and turn my iPod Touch to full volume. I leaned back in my seat, chin up and close my eyes. She continues to stare at me, shocked. I smile. Serves Ms. Nakchadi right.
Heer's Point Of View
As he leaned back into his seat, closing his eyes, I could not help but wonder what kind of an idioctic jerk he was. Till right now, I only thought he was a jerk, but now, seeing his attitude, he also proved it that he is a jerk AND an idiot. Like come on, what sane, or shall I say, DECENT man, would talk to a girl like me like the way he did? I just glare at him, disgusted and then wondered, why I was even taking my time thinking about him.
"Sadu" (Rotten), I mutter.
I place my bag on the top self as I take my sweater and throw it on my seat. As I am trying to take my reading book and my LG Shine out of my bag, suddenly, the same sweater that I had thrown on my seat, comes flying back on my face. I suddenly let go my LG Shine, which then lands on the floor, shattering into pieces. My hair was all ruffled and all out of place, and I was shocked as ever. I still didn't know what had happened. I glare at the Jediot( Jerk and Idiot).
"Hey! Don't you dare throw that stupid sweater on my face again!" he starts off, all angry, but yet very well handled.
I don't reply at first, and I pick up my LG Shine, which was broken on the floor. "Excause me? I didn't throw my sweater on your so called ugly face. I had thrown it on my seat. And for your kind information, my seat is right beside yours because my sister was not smart enough to book my a better seat. And to tell you the truth, I'd rather share my seat with a dog then you, if that makes you feel any better." I reply, all angry.
This time, the Jerk stands up, taking his ear phones out of his ears. " What do you mean? Are you comparing me to a Dog?"
"Yes I am. But hold on, I shouldn't even do that, Dogs are cute, which you so are not. They are loyal, which I don't see you being. They are well behaved, which you, certainly don't look like. So again, comparing you to a poor dog may seem like a big insult to the dog and I can't insult dogs." I reply back, all under one breath.
"Whoa. Hold it. So first of all, I help you onto the bus..." he starts but I cut him off before he could ever finish.
"Hello?" I start. "You helping me onto the bus? Well, I was running to come to you and just when I was about to hold your hand, but no, instead you helped some random girl that was wearing a mini skirt onto the bus. Just cause I was wearing a wedding attire doesn't mean..."
"What did you just say?" The jerk puts his hand high in the air, as if trying to use his brain to figure it all out. "It's not my fault that that girl was faster then you." he simply replies.
"Faster? What do you mean to say? That I can't run fast enough?" I question.
"Yes.", he smiles.
"Well, excause me? What do you expect? Do you want me to run like a rocket.."
"Rocket's don't run" he cuts me through.
"I didn't ask you. Now answer me, have YOU ever tried running in a wedding attire like mine? There are like a hundered pins poking me at the moment and all you care about is a damn sweater thrown at your so-called face?" I answer.
"Now don't take me off track. There is more to add. When I helped you onto the bus, and I held onto you, it was YOU who told me to let go of you, which I did, and then it was YOU who started blaming me for letting you go in the first place but either of it was clearly not my fault because before I could warn you about anything you didn't even let me speak so then, how was I supposed to warn you?"
I was quite for a moment. He was right...I told him to let me go but then again, he could have helped me. "Sorry, but you could have still helped me up, couldn't you?"
"Yea." he rolls his eyes. "After all the blame game, yea...I could have helped you up, without you saying anything FIRST."
"But hey, you were so close to me but no, all you did was take your iPod, isn't that rude?" I ask.
"No it wasn't. Compared to what you said, No!" he replies in a loud voice.
"Yes it was!"
"No it wasn't!"
"Yes!"
"No!"
"Yes!"
"No it wasn't!"
"Yes it was, and you can accept it now. No need to feel embarrassed." I say, getting tired of it all.
"Embarrassed?" he mouths, all confused. "No it wasn't. With what you did to me, what I did was NOTHING."
"Yes it was!"
"No it wasn't!"
"I got hurt!", I say, trying to get him to say that he was rude.
"Good for you!"
"No it wasn't!"
"Yes it was!"
"No!"
"Yes!"
The jerk and I were really close now. We had our fingers pointed at each other, and our noses rubbing against each other. Our teeth crinched.
"It wasn't rude and you know it! Stop denying it!" he says!
And just then, we hear a loud stop in the bus tires. It was a break, a sudden one. Everyone gets a small shock and I hold onto the jerk for help. My heart racing, beating at an unbelievable rate. He holds onto my waist as I place my hand on his chest. We stare at each other, our eyes giving us space to look away. We keep staring and in between our stares, we never knew when we were pushed back onto the seats. I never knew when I fell on top of him and we both landed on the seats. Still staring at each other. He was still holding onto my waist, supporting me and I was still cringing on his chest. What was it that kept us back? We continued to stare at each other, not even one single movement.
Prem's Point Of View
I keep staring at her as I hold on to her waist as we continue to fall on the seat due to the sudden coach breaks. We keep staring at each other, neither smiling nor angry. We just felt konnected. Her eyes, big, dark brown...confident...that's it. The simplycity. Those were her main attractions. We stare at each other, not one of us making the move to move.
