once upon a time, the world had
a lot of people who knew
that real love was ultimately sad
that perfection could never be had
'cause all heros had some strange flaw
and they would ultimately make their lady loves bawl

so deep was our conviction in this lesson we learnt,
so well were the rules of "real world love" in our souls burnt,
that it was the cynic in us that ruled our heart,
any belief in love, true love, was killed at the start.

till one day, the lot of people saw, purely by chance
a tv-show where a boy and a girl were lost in a dance.

the boy was dark, stern and tall,
the girl was tremulous, bold and small,
and when she took his hand to her cheek,
and in front of his bold, dazed look, her eyes fell, yielding and meek,
the attention of the lot of people was captured,
firm, fast, they all watched enraptured.

and as they watched,
a miracle happened,
a magical change came over the people in this world
in their minds and their hearts, hopes of true love unfurled
like the petals of a rose that had lain asleep for too long
or the stirring of long lost memories of the perfect love song.

for here was a hero, true and strong,
who had searched for his love, for ever so long,
and found it in a girl who had learnt to wait
with patient faith as her strongest trait.

his name was prem and hers was heer,
two names for us, that have become quite dear.
for it is these two -- a really strange old fashioned pair
that have snared us all into true love's lair.
where we all wallow, happy behind a spider-web veil
'cause no matter what happens, prem and heer will prevail!
