Transcript of live chat with Yash Tonk, Actor on August 25, 2003 Yash Tonk Actor "I've always been too focussed to let anything affect me" ____________________________________________________________ ___________ sabeeh> Will you not now act in television? yash_tonk> Why not? Television is paying me quite well. sahar> Hey! Yash which is been your favourite role till now both on the small and big screen? yash_tonk> My favourite is in Kahin Kissi Roz where I play a double role, and on the big screen it is Ishq Vishq's Love Guru. sabeeh> Which are your forthcoming films? yash_tonk> The next release is going to be Janasheen and there's a film called Miss You that I've just signed. I play a proper negative character in it. harsha> Are you not bored of Kahin Kissi Roz, the public is? yash_tonk> I'm with the public. chweetiepie> Do you have a major role in Janasheen? What kind of role is it? yash_tonk> It's a grey shade character and a very important one in the film. sahar> I love your acting I want to know who has been your inspiration for your acting. yash_tonk> My inspiration is the public from where I get different-different characters. All the characters are from within all of us. john_next> Are you the same in your life as you are in the movies or serials? yash_tonk> No! What I portray- the roles that I do-on the small or big screen are just characters. sahar> Are you married because you don't look so? How do you keep yourself so fit and fine? yash_tonk> Yes, I got married last year; and as to how I keep myself fit, I workout everyday and my wife loves fit people, so I have to keep fit. No choice! yashy> Yash, why are you concentrating on villainous roles in films so much? Your smalls screen image of Kunal Sikand started off as a nice-boy image? yash_tonk> Because all the nice boys image is being taken over by producers' and directors' son, leaving you with no choice to portray the 'nice boy' image. But in reality, I'm a nice boy. deepak016> For you what is important to be perfect in single role or to be the jack of all? yash_tonk> A single role is a boring thing to do. If you are the jack of all, you get to try out so many different things. So I prefer being the jack of all. adie> Hi Yash well I really liked the Haryanvi role you played in KKR. Are you really a Haryanvi? yash_tonk> Yes, I am! gita> Where are you from and your background? Why did you decide to take up acting as a career? yash_tonk> I am from Haryana. My background- my father was in the army. I took up acting, because there was no other option left. pinki> How did Feroz Khan meet you? yash_tonk> I met Mr. Feroz Khan while they were casting for Prem Aggan. chweetiepie> How was it working with Feroze Khan, Fardeen Khan and Celina? yash_tonk> I don't know about Fardeen and Celina, but with Mr. Khan it was fantastic. astro> What are your new films and when will they be released? yash_tonk> My next release is Janasheen (in September) and one film called Wrong Number (don't know the release date). chweetiepie> Do you have a major role in Janasheen? What kind of role is it? yash_tonk> I play a grey character - a very important role in the film. chweetiepie> Don't you wish to be the lead actor of movies? yash_tonk> Yes, definitely. I think I'll be very good, there should just be someone who is willing to give me a chance. rani> How did you meet your wife? Is she an actress too? yash_tonk> Yes, she is an actress. I met her on the sets of Kahin Kissi Roz. suhan> What do you think is the secret of your good acting? What should I do to be a good actress? yash_tonk> The first thing is to believe in yourself and be confident enough to project it. rum_pum> Did you face the problems all new comers face when they enter filmdom meaning politics, roles being chopped at the editing table etc? yash_tonk> Everything is a part of the game, but I never gave these things too much importance. luv_u> What's more difficult to portray- comedy or negative roles? yash_tonk> I feel comedy is more difficult because in comedy your timing has to be very good. razi> Are you very media shy? I have never seen any interviews before. Are you going to start into media with this Indiatimes chat? yash_tonk> I want to be famous but nobody is helping me except Indiatimes! suhan> What do you think is the secret of your good acting? What should I do to be a good actress? yash_tonk> Lux soap, I think that's the secret. Smell it, feel it, explore it, you'll make it. suhan> Why did chose such a hair style? Was it for a particular character you are playing or just liked it? yash_tonk> First of all, I like long hair. Secondly, it's different, third, I am in continuity, I can't cut them. sri_love_you> What is your nickname? yash_tonk> Dabboo. rani> Do you plan to get into film direction/production? yash_tonk> Direction. sabeeh> What are the major differences between Yash Tonk and Kunal Sikand? yash_tonk> Yash Tonk is a very simple, down-to-earth, young bubbly guy and Kunal Sikand is rich, sad and frustrated. sabeeh> What would you have been if you were not a actor ? yash_tonk> Cricketer chweetiepie> First of all congrats. You will become a papa very soon. How does it feel? yash_tonk> Thanks. It's a great feeling. Feel more responsible and it gives me reason to work harder. rasu> Do you think modelling is better than acting? yash_tonk> For modelling too you need to be an actor. teens> Who is your favourite actor? yash_tonk> Indian it is Mr. Bachchan; International it is Robert De Niro and Al Pacino. myGAWD_> How long is Kahin Kissi Roz going to be on air? Did you know Ekta Kapoor before? How did you get the role? yash_tonk> It's going to be on air till the time you watch it. And, yes, I knew Ekta before as I was doing their other programmes. And they considered me best for the role, they had no other choice. rani> Do you think the current crop of films are good in quality and content and what about their music? yash_tonk> Yes, I see a lot of good films being released and some are in the making. And there has been some good music too. rani> Do you think crossover films are good for a new comer to launch his career? yash_tonk> The film has to be good, whether its crossover or a normal film. gogglie> Tell us about your feelings when you first faced recognition?? Was it after your TV serial Kahin Kissi Roz? yash_tonk> I am a very shy guy. For me the most difficult situation is when someone is complimenting me because I never know whether he is genuinely complimenting me or pulling my leg. Where recognition is concerned - I was doing programmes earlier, but Kahin Kissi Roz did make a difference in my career and got me in good league. gita> What are the problems that a new comer faces in this line? Did you come across a lot of politics, not getting roles or your role being chopped at the editing table? yash_tonk> In every or any profession people face similar kind of problems. I've never come across any problem that should be spoken about. I have always been self-centred and too focussed to let anything affect me. luv_u> How busy do you keep? Have heard TV actors have a very hectic schedule. yash_tonk> Yes, that's true. It almost takes all your time. Thirteen hours is the normal shift (like say from 9 in the morning to 10 in the night) rajanderson> Your looks are so sexy, why don't you go for modelling? yash_tonk> Thank you. The reason for not becoming a model is that I am very occupied and acting gives me more satisfaction. rani> Is there really a casting couch in film industry? Have heard even male actors face it when they start their career? yash_tonk> I've never come across any such thing. Signoff Message> Life is beautiful. Please continue watching my work. |
