Catch Yash Tonk, a brillaint actor who has immense talent in portraying varied characters with a lot of charisma. Yash shares his views with indya.com.
Yash talks to indya.com about his forthcoming movie Fight Club and his role in Kesar!
Why did you choose to be an actor?
I had no other choice! I never thought about it and I strongly believe it is destiny.
If not an actor you would... I would have become a cricketer or an army man. My dad was in the army.
How was it to face the camera for the first time?
It was for Ken Gosh's video Disco Deewane with singer Sagarika. Unfortunately my role was chopped off from the video later! I am quite camera-friendly, so I did not have any problems.
How did you happen you be part of Kesar? What do you like about your character in Kesar?
I was always with Balaji Telefilms so I waited till I got the right role, the role as Harman really impressed me.
The character of Harman is very intense and goes through a lot of changes. And after the heart transplant, he has sobered down and cares for Kesar. I love the twists that take place because of my character!
What is Yash in real life?
I am a very simple guy. I am very homely and love to spend more time at home.
How did movies happen?
I was with the Balaji Telefilms when Mr Feroz Khan called me for a role in Janasheen. Then the career took off and I became busy.
Tell us about Fight Club
I have lots of say about Fight Club. Working with the Fight Club crew was fantastic! I play a negative role for a change. I also believe in the writer who has sketched my character, so I loved my role in Fight Club, even though it is a negative role.
How was it working in Ishq Vishk? How was Shahid Kapoor?
He was a kid when he started off as an actor in Ishq Vishk. He is a very sincere boy. As far as my role in the movie, that was the first time I was doing a role like that (laughs).
Would you choose small screen over films?
No! I do not differentiate between serials and films. I came from a small town and I was struggling for an identity.... Films gave me that and I enjoy doing serials.
Your birthday - 30 October.
Your favourite actor - It's a long list! I like Dilip Kumar, Naseeruddin Shah, Robert DiNiro, Al Pachino
You favourite food - I love all Indian dals.
How and where did you meet your wife?
I met her on the sets of Kaahin Kissii Roz
What is the most crazy thing that you have ever done till date?
The craziest thing that I have ever done... That's a little difficult to say. But I guess it has to be my marriage! Also, I keep de-hydrating myself more often. I must learn to relax…
Any embarassing incident during the shoot?
It was during a fight sequence in Fight Club, I was totally drained out as the five main leads kept beating me up. I felt I had no energy at all…
Future projects… I have Fight Club that will be releasing this month, then there is Kisse Pyar Karoon, Dil Sacha Chehra Jhoota and Team.
Message to your fans... Please watch all my movies and have fun!
