The episode did feel a bit disjointed and the multiple locations and story strands probably resulted in that disjointedness being magnified...In such situations, I tend to look for the silver lining around the edges...
- This Ankie is taking up so much footage, yaar. She hasn't even been here for three days and I'm already wishing that she disappears for good. Every new scene just makes me think, "She's SUCH a kid!" and not in a good way. Whining about how Panchgani is sooo boring, then forcing everyone to go to the movies and rushing DV because they shouldn't be late...Then she herself yells and throws kiddie tantrums about stopping on the side of the road for ice cream and whatnot when they ARE getting late...Oh, and I almost forgot the picture-taking and sticking ice cream on DV's face. And then later, that towel nonsense...More on that later. Aaargh. I felt like Dils today, all throughout the episode. Ankita was chattering about the scenery (take pictures of the scenery then, not selfies, jeez!), but she chews up the scenery...and how. Good god. Bachaao, please!
- What's interesting about all this is that even DV looks like he's irritated and at the end of his rope, tolerating Ankita...He says this is normal behavior as far as she is concerned...But if this is her usual behavior, he's obviously grown and matured to the point where that sort of "youthful" behavior is starting to feel like more of a nuisance. At least that's what I'm sensing from his reactions to her. It's like he's dealing with a childhood buddy who is of a completely different mindset now, but since they've known each other for such a long time, it's hard to shrug her off. They've grown apart since the time DV first arrived in Panchgani, but Ankita probably thinks this is the sort of "change" that can be reversed once he goes back to Mumbai and its "youth-centric" atmosphere.
- And so the theme of trust continues to link these relationships together...I liked all the mini conversations revolving around trust today - Dils was trying to send that message across to both DV and Saachi in these recent episodes, and I hope her faith in DV is justified. Ankita is ridiculously unpredictable *weary sigh*
- Saachi's dream...Another interesting bit. It reminded me of the first time DV sat in Saachi's jeep, back when he lied about having heart pain so that he could catch a ride to the market. That was hilarious and endearing to me...And I remember how Saachi was extremely irritated and told him off for being irresponsible and immature and all...DV was unfazed and all he wanted to do was take a picture of his "first friend in Panchgani" with a smile, LOL. That sort of prank-like stunt came back in Saachi's discomforting daydream and it turned into a bit of a surreal nightmare for her. Maybe there's a subconscious fear that DV is going to go back to being the way he was before Saachi knew him...and Naani had just spoken to her about that "rumaal mein lipti hui ladki" stealing DV away, so maybe those words stuck and morphed into an irrational nightmare in spite of Saachi's attempts to cheer up and think positively. Sometimes that happens. I think, deep down, in her heart, she does trust DV...It's just that, like she said in the MM, she's seeing something and then her mind hits a roadblock...Her mind, in its default tendency to logically process things, overrides the signals from her heart.
- Counting stars...I liked this scene a lot! It was familiar, comforting, and soothing to me after the craziness of the first few scenes. Now I can go back and happily watch the BTS video since I've seen the episode. I'm also wondering why DV came to Saachi's terrace at night...Maybe he had other things to do...? Eh, going to cut the team some slack because I
loved yesterday's episode and this terrace scene makes me happy enough. I'm very, very thankful for this scene in the middle of all the best friend stuff. It would have been an exceedingly trying episode without this DV-Saachi moment, even if it was entirely WAY too short! 😒 ❤️ A shining star in the middle of a dark black sky...That's what this DV-Saachi scene is to me! Love the dialogues and expressions, as always! DV shows up unannounced and Saachi isn't surprised this time...She just looks up at him and lets out vague comments that only she understands...DV picks up on them, teases her a bit, and then encourages her to elaborate, which she does. As they look at each other, as DV watches Saachi speak about her father, I feel like I can sense, yet again, why DV admires Saachi so much. She has a softness and a wisdom that probably was instilled in her by her father...DV might tease Saachi about her stern side, but that gentle wisdom and her nurturing nature make her a woman to be respected and admired. I doubt DV encountered many career-oriented women like that during his time in Mumbai and abroad...The more time he spent with Saachi and her family, the more he began to love that closeness and peacefulness, I think. There's a beautiful tranquility in moments like this one - and DV has spent many similar moments with Saachi, interacting with her either in silence or with more being said nonverbally than verbally...It's the way their relationship has blossomed and grown, bit by bit...
- "Main aapka problem nahi...solution banna chahta hoon..." "Already ho." Awww! Trademark DV-Saachi...I also love the bit where DV speaks about surrendering doubts, logic, and fears...Lovely lines yet again! "Jabse mujhe aapse pyaar hua hai...mujhe din mein bhi taare nazar aate hai." AWWW! Haha, so sweet! That characteristic way Ruslaan says these lines, and how Sangita nails Saachi's response as usual...Saachi's smile as she looks at DV, who is already grinning at her...Awww! Trademark DV! 😆 Love how they end up laughing together, too, after Saachi gives him a light, playful thwack...and the way DV reaches around to wrap an arm around her as she shakes her head at him...These two never fail to leave me in awe at how beautifully they fit together. Their hands find each other's, and they snuggle closer, looking at each other affectionately before looking up at the stars...The focus on their hands is such a lovely part of that final shot...I love that they're both caressing each other's fingers there, that it's a mutual display of their affection that comes out at a subconscious level, instinctively.
- A few words about the towel scene. First and foremost, I'm glad it's done with! 😆 The entire time, I kept contrasting it with the time when Saachi came in and chanced upon DV after he'd taken a shower. The mental exercise of comparing the two scenarios was quite nice, and by now Saachi has an overwhelming number of marks in her favor in my book (and probably in DV's book, too). In any case, I'm taking this towel scene as a point for contrasting Saachi - the teacher-type, older woman who has lived a simple yet difficult life full of responsibilities - and Ankita - the young, chilled-out, high-society girl whose life probably consists of parties and vacationing at the drop of a hat and embarking on flights of fancy like a pampered child. "Okay, meri maa, ab tu jaa!" "Cut the nonsense..." Dude, I am curious about DV's pre-Panchgani and pre-Saachi lifestyle, because he's so clearly annoyed with Ankita and her "harmless flirt" type comments about his body and all. It's like he's dealing with a child, the way he changes his tone after his initial attempts to get her to be understanding end up failing. "You've changed!" Yeah, he has! Surprise! *rolls eyes* Liked the details in this part, actually - the romantic movies DV had stocked up on for his "movie date" with Saachi (HDDCS was one I managed to glimpse), the CDs of ghazals, old film songs, romantic songs..."How old-fashioned!" Ankita says, throwing the stuff on the bed carelessly. And DV looks like he wants her to shut up and leave him in peace, ASAP.
- Watching Dils interact with DV now, in such a fiercely protective manner, trying to ward off Ankita while simultaneously scolding DV for roaming around with "no clothes", is nice, too...It brings back a lot of memories of the early days when Dils was in her line-maaroing phase around DV 😆 It's so lovely seeing how far their friendship has come and how deep it is! THIS is how a friend should be. She's a wonderful best friend, confidante, and mirror for both DV and Saachi...and she's like a surrogate for the audience a lot of the time. Ah, and while I invariably end up cheering whenever Dils imparts advice to Saachi or DV, I also really enjoy watching Delnaaz deliver those hilarious lines and nicknames from time to time - "Miss Cool Refrigerator!" takes the cake today after the earlier "Multivitamin."
- Here's hoping for a better end to the week...And I hope the JLZ team gets through the 5-episodes-a-week teething problems without letting the quality drop substantially. I'll keep watching and searching for silver lining as long as they give us hidden gems!
