Most of us on Kayamath forum are in love with the Mighty Milind Mishra or our dear Milsi baby. One wink of his in an episode becomes the order of the day for us. We understand him, we adore him, we defend him and as I said before we love him.
I do want to give a lot of credits to the writer of this character along with the actor. Conceptualization of a character like Milind Mishra deserves applauds. The actor Shabbir Ahluwalia has rightly got into the soul of the character only proving his command over the art of acting. Whether Milind Mishra has brought about the charm to Shabbir or Shabbir has made Milind Mishra lovable is probably a debatable question, which will have people arguing both sides. I wondered why this character Milind Mishra has all this admiration from so many of us. I have tried to pen down my views of the different aspects of this interesting character and I will be happy to hear any similar or contrary views.
Self-respect
Coming to the character Milind Mishra, he comes from a poor background. He has seen his father work for a very rich man all his life. He has seen himself and his sister ill-treated by the rich, spoilt kids like Aalaap. He has suffered humiliation and reacts to it with anger. He never loses his self respect in front of those rich. He lets his blood flow to protect his self-respect or his sister. Yes Self-respect, one thing everyone wishes to maintain and it requires guts to stand up to what you believe in, to stand up against odds.
Milind is ready to die for his family. For him his father and sister are his everything. He doesn't consider logic when it comes to protect them. He goes out of the way to do whatever he can to help them with their problems. He beats up Aalaap to death as he tried to play around with his sister. When it comes to blood relations, you don't calculate to see logic, do you?
Initial attraction
There is a girl around him, Ayesha, who though with him doesn't entertain him. She shows him attitude, and he wants to break it and that's the only girl he wants to possess. She teases him, and he easily gets agitated and gives it back by accepting and winning her challenges. She is the only girl he has his eyes on. He is a passionate lover boy here. He wants her to wait for him while he goes around the world to make money. Yes it is more important for him to stand up against what he has suffered than the girl. He knows his priorities. He only expects the girl to wait for him.
His wedding
He learns to be a ruthless businessman. He is determined to conquer. He does so. World always looks up to determined people right? He comes back with a bang. He realizes the girl has cheated him. He is angry, disgusted with her, he is heartbroken. But he doesn't show his weakness to her. Why showing your heartburn to someone that burnt your heart? He realizes she is cunning, she can take advantage. He decides to take revenge. He decides to do tit for tat. Milind wouldn't give up easily, will he? Who can mess around with him? He is clever enough to shoot two birds with one shot. He marries another girl, Prachi, a rich girl from the same family his father worked for. This is to take revenge from the family and to make Ayesha jealous. How ambitious is that and how tactful is that. It's not easy for his heart but he doesn't care as it is his revenge.
He wants to torture his rich wife. He tries doing it at his best. However he doesn't use her for his physical pleasures though she is freely available to him. He scares her to death by attempting to rape her but only to stop even before it starts. He is ruthless and adamant but not cheap. He bails her from jail and protects her from bad mouthing when she puts herself in trouble for him. He slowly learns about the good face of the rich girl and doesn't take too long to acknowledge that. It's simple equation with Milind Mishra, do good to him, he is the best for you; do bad to him, you have nowhere to escape. He never looks back at Ayesha, though she makes herself long for him.
He fell in love too
When he realizes Prachi's goods, he apologizes in the most admirable way. He repents, buys her a saree risking his life and dances with her acknowledging her position as his wife. It takes guts to apologize and our Milind has it in him. He looks at her from a fresh point of view, falls for her beauty, dignity and kindness. Once he gives himself to his wife emotionally, he expects at his heart the same from her. He misunderstands his wife might still love her childhood friend and reacts angrily to it. He becomes insecure and jealous. However, when he realizes his wife is doing more and more good for him by helping his family, he develops deep respect for her as well and even wants to sacrifice his love for her to make her get back with her childhood love, Neev. But one can't help a strong emotion called love right? Our Milind can't help it either. He has no control over his heart like most of us. He follows her around, tries to get close to her. When he is upset again regarding her and Neev, he bursts out with anger only to make his soft-spoken wife burst out with all she felt for him. When he realizes his mistake, he not only wants to apologize but also wants to express his love and what is a better way than an abrupt but passionate kiss to stop the woman who loves you but walking away from you. He finds his love in her that way.
His hidden softness
Every beast has a soft corner in it. The ruthless businessman, the angry man, Milind Mishra suddenly opens his hidden softness to his love. He tenderly romances his wife, dreams of a future with her with their baby. He becomes a baby himself in front of her. Every human needs someone to share himself/herself with no matter how much you hide yourself from the world. Milind finds that person in his wife. Isn't that beautiful?
Then come the misunderstandings. His ears get filled with ill against his wife. His wife lies to him protecting her sister-in-law. But how can Milind Mishra accept the fact that his beloved wife betrayed him? He goes overboard wanting to divorce her. He feels the pain deep in heart to be betrayed again by someone whom he dreamt of his whole life with. He wears the rudest mask on his face for Prachi. However, he is deeply sad at heart, hits the bar, sheds tears missing her, longs for her. Her thoughts never leave him in peace. But still, Milind won't entertain any betrayal.
But once he realizes his wife had actually stood by him to protect his sister, he sheds his ego to shout in the court, in front of all his family how wrong he was. He hits the road this time, desperately searches for her. Finally when she is found, he showers her with all that he denied her. He flirts, romances, teases, loves.. awww how adorable! When he is in love, he is just in love, he knows nothing else.
Test of love
Evil forces stop his reunion with his wife and make him lose all her memories. This takes him back to his pre-wedding days where he just hated the rich girl. But history repeats and he cannot prevent himself from falling for her again. He wishes against what he believes in that he gets united with her. He longs for her though he is told that he is to marry Ayesha and Prachi is to marry Neev. He imagines stopping Neev-Prachi engagement, dreams of Prachi everywhere, buys her flowers, even kisses her in rain unable to control himself. In the end when he learns Prachi too loves him, he breaks his wedding to Ayesha before it happens rather than doing the biggest sacrifice of his love. He speaks his heart again in front of his whole family how much he loves Prachi. He marries her again, this time it is a love marriage, not a contract marriage for revenge. He is a die-hard romantic with her. He plays with her, steals every possible moment to get close to her and he truly tells her how much he wants her not only by words but also by actions. He also reassures her umpteen times to be strong, to have complete faith in their love. He becomes the husband every girl wants. How lucky is Prachi that way!
Again, one shouldn't take Milind Mishra for granted. Be it the union leader or its his own Prachi, he will be the hot-headed Milind to give back. A slap for the union leader and sulking for his wife. He suffers hurting Prachi, but he doesn't compromise him getting hurt, for him taken for granted. He lives his image no matter what.
That's Milind Mishra for you. The Milind Mishra who can make millions out of nothing, the same Milind Mishra who plays like a child with Ritwik, the same Milind Mishra who is head over heels in love with Prachi and the same Milind Mishra who almost kills Aalaap to protect his sister. The best thing about this character is that he reacts as a human, just like us. He is no all-time-crying baby like Prachi, he is no sacrifice-your-love kind of Neev, he is not all-bad kind of Ayesha. He is just Milind with love, hatred, jealousy, values, anger, tenderness and what not. He is not a perfect man. But he is admired for his imperfections.
He is human. Love you Milind.
