…is that it makes for an interesting character. That is what Sanjeeda Shaikh thinks about her current soap role
She plays an obsessive character on screen, but she is just the opposite in real life. That's Sanjeeda Shaikh for you. A chirpy, bubbly and full of life girl who believes that you can achieve the best of things even with limited opportunities.
Her character Ayesha in Balaji's Kayamath is just the parallel lead but her character has managed to stir the imagination of the viewers. To top it all, she plays a negative character in the movie.
Sanjeeda says, "My character Ayesha has got amazing response. Though I play the negative character in the show, people have really loved it."
Is it difficult to play a negative character on screen? "I don't think so. I just took it as a challenge, though I was a little apprehensive initially. But, as the camera is on, I become Ayesha which is just not me in real life," she says.
Ayesha is an obsessive character who just can't see beyond her love Milind played by Shabbir Ahluwalia. She even goes on to plot conspiracies to get him. Does she have any obsession in real life?
"Yes, I guess I am obsessive about a few things in real life. My family and loved ones, my car and property would definitely figure in the list," she says.
Would she go to such obsessive extent for her love Aamir (Ali)?
"I don't know. I am so confused. I love Aamir, but I am just not like Ayesha," she adds.
She started her career with Balaji's Kya Hoga Nimmo Ka where she played the lead character. In Kayamath, she chose to be the second lead whereas Panchi Bora is playing the lead role. Is she happy? "My character Nimmo went through all shades and I had a great time playing the character. But, when I was offered the role, I took it because I did not want to play someone goody goody on screen. I took a gamble, and thankfully, my character is become popular. I am also not scared of playing a second lead, as it has become the parallel lead and not a vamp," she says.
