Part 2

Milind Mishra was not a man to be reckoned with, sharp business accumen combined with raw magnetism made him impossible to ignore. He had great ambition but also the courage to see it fulfilled. Those that had met Milind often found him arrogant or proud but what they were not aware of was that this was not unjusitfied. He had every right to be; being a self made man, Milind considered himself above the petty politics that old money bought with it.

He had made his fortune in Turkey with a hugely successful line of hotels and he fared no different in his home country of India. Coming from the modest beginnings of the chawl, Milind did not let success go to his head, his friends were still the same and his heart still belonged there.

Milind was never interested in society women, infact women in general never entertained much of his thoughts, bar one. He was not an unattractive man, infact he had about him the kind of look that was rare certainly. He was tall, dark and in the most uncoventional sense handsome too, he always appeared immaculately dressed in sharp business suits and though he had a beard, it was always neatly trimmed. His hair was perhaps the only unrul thing about him, it was thick and black and curly and it endeared Milind to everyone despite his cold apearance. Milind had no time for women, but they were not were detered from being drawn to him, it just served to intensify their attraction.

Milind Misra rarely smiled; largely due to an overwhelming desire to be taken seriously from a yound age, when he did however, he lit the room up. His smiles were reserved for the very few he held dear to him. One of those fortunate enough to be bestowed with it was his wife, perhaps the only one that could insight it also. Milind's thoughts turned to her often and foremost and he knew he was using his work as an excuse not to but he didn't know what else he could do.

Milind was not a man to be affected by much, but when his wife had left him, he was a broken man. He did not allow anyone to see but his sister was not unaware of his plight and endeavered to help him as much as she could. His sister was all he could consider of family now but she too could only do so much, with a family of her own to look after. What Milind missed the most was his best friend, someone he could share anything with and for a man like him friends were few and far between. He often wondered how they ended up together, they were like two pieces of a puzzle that fit but the patterns didn't match.

Milind did not only think that they physical appearances were mismatched, her temperament was also dissimilar to his own. He was quick to anger and his temper was reknown throughout his office but she had been of a sweet nature and her look was enough to silence him. He did not think that another could have such a hold over him and he is understandably angry at her too for leaving him. The shell of a man he used to be, he did not think he could take much more loss, his mother, his father and finally when his wife had left him he had resolved not to let anybody come that close to him again. It was his way of dealing with pain and he knew eventually it would subside.

The more Milind's pain became stifled, his fustration was vented out on his work; he worked harder, later and more dilligently than before. His company had reached growths beyond what was intially expected and was seconded in India by the Shah group of hotels.

Milind sat at his desk and tried to concentrate on his work; he was expecting a call from Sukriti and it was now 5 o'clock. She had never faltered in her care on him and he had begun to realise that he was replying on her too much, something he needed to rectify. He refrained from calling her himself, she was not careless so he assumed she would have a good explanation.

Sukriti rang not long after, apologising for her delay. He smiled everytime he had thought of his sister, how grown up she was now with her own family. He still remembered the day she had married Saket, and wondered at how much had changed since then. Saket was at first glance, merely an employee at his company, granted he had a small personal fortune inherited to him when his parents had passed away with no other children. Milind's mind was still hazy concerning the details of how they had both met and fell in love but he was distinctly aware of the feeling he had when they had approached him concerning their marriage.

He was not happy and now in retrospect, he regreted his earlier reaction and being the eldest after their father had passed away, Milind should have used more tact. But that was who he was, and to a large extent still is. Eventually he had agreed; once he made some enquires regarding Saket, they were not discreet either, he asked Saket outright why he worked when he apparently had more than enough money. However, Milind could not understand the need for a man to work for his self; for he had always worked for money, in order to provide. He had consented to the marriage nonetheless and seeing his younger sister get married, he realised, he now had nothing stopping him from making a family of his own.
