The audience first knew him as 'Neev Shergill' in Kayamat. While his popularity started soaring, the audience noticed a different trait to him– that of a rocking dancer in Jhalak Dikhla Ja. With rumours of his exit from the Balaji camp, there seems to be something big in store for the handsome hunk of Indian television, which is going change our views of the actor completely. Or so says Jay Bhanushali, the latest heartthrob of Indian television.
There is no denying the fact that Jay's career has taken a new turn after his success in Jhalak Dikhla Ja. Though he did not win the competition, his popularity skyrocketed. In fact, so popular did he become that he started getting offers for doing dance shows all over the world! "I have just returned from a show in Dubai!" says Jay.
But is he enjoying it? "Yes of course! I am thoroughly enjoying my dance shows. I feel it gives me a fantastic opportunity to interact with my fans and also experience the immediate reaction of everybody. I think stage shows are incomparable when it comes to feedback!" says the early twenties guy who is known to be a charmer. Ask him about rumours of being a flirt, and he will respond: "I am a very ordinary actor with ordinary looks. I joined the television industry for fame, money and honey."
"While I have managed to get the first two, the third one is still evading me!" says the witty Jay, adding, "I am looking for a stable girlfriend. Will you help me in finding one?!"
Jay has always been interested in the glamour world. "Right from my school days, I hated studies. So much that I did not go to college after school. I completed my graduation through a correspondence course. At the same time, let me admit that I never really wanted to become an actor.
"All that I knew was I did not want to do a 9 to 5 job. My mother and sister were the two people in my life who wanted me to try out acting skills and encourage me. No one else in my family is even remotely connected to the glamour world."
Then how did Jay become the actor that he is today? "I did a lot of commercials— Lays, Motorola, Pepsi, Planet M, Rediff.com etc— when I got noticed by Ekta Kapoor. And that is how I entered Kayamat."
Apparently, even Ekta fell for Jay's smile after seeing the commercials and that is when she called him for a screen test. Only after multiple rounds of screen test did Jay get the prized role of 'Neev Shergill'.
Unfortunately, Jay's role in Kayamat has not been in the spotlight for more than a month now. What went wrong? Is the rumour of his having a tiff with Balaji Telefims true? "Let me put all the rumours to rest. There's no such tiff. In Kayamat, a different pair is in the spotlight now. And frankly, what is wrong in that? In all soaps the focus shifts from one pair to the other," retorts Bhanushali who was handpicked by Ekta for the role. "But it is true that I am looking for a good opportunity. Something very big is on the verge of materialising, but I would like to speak about it only after it is finalised. So please do not ask me now. But I can guarantee this much that my fans should be prepared for something really big," promises Jay. http://www.deccanherald.com/Content/Mar92008/enter2008030856 269.asp |
